I used to care about unlocking trophies on my PS3 until I moved over to the PC. Nowadays, PC-games tend to have achievements (Steam, Origin, Uplay), but at the time, not every game had achievements and so I gradually cared less and less about them. Returning to the way of playing a game the way I want and not forcing myself to do certain things I normally wouldn't do, unless I wanted to do them myself (like playing a game on a higher difficulty). This feels more enjoyable, more fulfilling. The +10 Reality points didn't do me much, it's nice of you, but that's about it.

Life sounds more epic with gamification. For example, today I completed a "Show Us Your Musicianship" sidequest and received +15 Wisdom plus a +10 Dexterity Bonus. That sounds way better than saying "I played guitar for an hour".

7950s have a 1792 threads/shaders and 3GB VRAM. Unless you're doing something like bitcoin mining, 2x 7950s OCd to 7970 clocks will do fine for gaming. If it's absolutely important and you are bitcoin mining, then yeah, maybe 2x 7970 or 2x R9 280X (it's a rebadged 7970 GHz Edition) would be better. Although to be perfectly honest, bitcoin mining isn't something I really do, it would probably be better to look around on forums. I'm thinking about Crossfiring R9 280X with my 7950 *after* I retire my x6 1090T for an FX-8350.

my younger brother is over addidicated with trophies he never plays a game for itself being a nice game but just to get the platinum in it which i despise, in the other hand i do like gamification and i do use it a lot in my life however when it comes to games i rather play the game for its story more than for its trophies, anyway nice reality check! keep up "check" XP

I know right!? My freind is like that, except he only goes for the bronze and all the silver and gold are just accidents lol Its petty! I've recommended him a ton of games on older systems such as Fatal Frame on the PS2, he loves horror, and PS2 is probably the greatest console of all time for horror games but he won't play any of them! Why? Because they have no trophies. So the trophies are stopping him from playing this genre that he loves! How messed up is that? lol
@TrueInvisible

SwinnyUK my brother is ready LITERALLY to be enslaved by the console as long as he'll get the platinum regardless anything! even that my parents got mad at him, speaking about fatal frame you're speaking about the game that was recorded as the world's scariest asian game of all time on ps2! you've got a good taste! i've got all the triology on ps2 myself! Fatal frame 1 , 2 and 3 but never finished any of them before XP i'm not a horror games player i only keep them for their value, and you can bet on it i stay playing ps2 all the time since my brother's addidication keeps him playing ps3 all the time, can't even anymore play my own games, i don't give a single point of care about trophies if i accidentally got one i don't care! my brother wants to show off in front of his friends with his trophies.. sadly you can never get REAL trohpies for all what you do it's just a digital data nothing else.. saying it like that makes me feel it's worthless for real. trophies ain't everything there's a plot and a gameplay not only a FPS mad hardcore playing or trophies everywhere.. if that's the goal why do ppl even care about buying games? they should just buy the trophies and that's it.

I love achievement hunting but at the same time I'm often cautious to avoid going for achievements which are tedious. People that go for collectibles using a guide to pick up 500 or so are clearly extreme examples of the negative effects. But finishing a game on hardest difficulty or doing a really difficult challenge are worth doing and add value to the game and one's experience
@1SWINZ1

Exactly, I do go for the platinums in the games I love, such as Dead Space 2, oh man, completing hardcore mode was probably the most adrenaline fuel'd experience I've had this entire generation! I finally got to the final boss after months of trying, I was sweating, my hands were shaking so much I could barely aim, I thought I was going to die and be send back to chapter 11 but I just scraped by with a smidgen of health left. THIS added to my game, it generated one of my most fond memories of this generation... But enjoying a game for the game itself and not the trophies is the top priority, when I first play through a new game, I don't even look at the trophy list until I've completed the game, then if I enjoyed it enough, I'll play it through a second time and challenge myself to get the trophies. Trophies add longevity to a game, they extend its life, so the problem is when people arn't using them for longevity because the trophies are the soul reason they are playing said game in the first place!

I think a lot more people would be into fitness if they were somehow presented with a RPG like gamining experience when it comes to their bodies. If they could level up, get certain "rewards", etc. Some people would see it as something really fun.

Duolingo is also a good example of gamification, the process of learning a new language is divided in levels and you're rewarded more points when you complete a challenge without missing anything. They also increase in difficulty as you progress into more advanced segments.

I work in IT at a school district, and we started using iPads at the elementary level. The students can be doing the most mundane thing, like multiplication fact tables, but turn those facts into fishes on an iPad screen and you need to know the answer to feed the fishes, they're all over it. It's interesting how turning things into games can be used as such a tool for education.

Gamification sounds weird then again once upon a time played a lot of RPG’s in school now I’m just way to dam busy for games, still try to keep myself up-to-date with what‘s new but... What I did when I was younger in games are now my hobbies in everyday life, I climb mountains and travel the world, I train and compete in German longsword, brew my own mead and beer. Meh I don’t need to play games anymore my life has enough adventure in it.
