My husband and I adopted a traumatized adult bunny about four years ago. The bonding process with our other bunnies went well. But it took about three years until he fully trusted us and let us pet him and check his ears and everything. Now he loves to cuddle and get his head and belly rubs. Some bunnies are just so traumatized, that it takes a long time. But he is so happy now.

Took my boy a year to warm up too, he was abandoned and I adopted him from the shelter but he never bit me, however he would use his head to shove me away or thump at me at first. Now we sleep together, he loves his pets, and won't shove me away, however if something is in his way he still will shove the item away, or any non-bunny food even if it's not for him, like, "mom, that's not healthy throw it out!"😂

Everyday I take her out her big cage, she races me to the door 🚪 then she spends time in the porch while I feed the cats and do my garden duties then she gets time outside and daily brushes everyday. She always running and doing binkies everywhere. She is a free roaming rabbit in the house, porch, and shed all animals love the shed .Since I garden she eats fresh herbs I have over 6 kinds of basil for her to try this year. Imma try and grow different hays for her I hope she loves it. And thank you again. I learned to potty train her because of this Channel

My Lulu has what I call a “golden retriever” bite. Like how a dog can hold an egg without breaking it, Lulu will grab my hand gently with my mouth and move my hand where he wants it. He’s a sweet boy. 🥰 He also has a gentle bite for when he’s had enough cuddles and wants to have all paws on the floor again. My Drew Bunnymore will groom nibble me and chin my hand. Sadly, she still prefers to nip for attention. It’s taken a good 5-6 months working with her to get her to be less anxious and trusting, but so worth it! Ironically, she is a lot like “50 First Dates” Drew Barrymore and tends to “forget” who I am till I pet her. Then she’s all over me for petting. Every single bunny I have had has had a unique personality. It’s a fun part of rabbit ownership!

My oldest bunny is and has always been a grumpy bunny. He growls and grunts at the whisk broom that I use to clean his area. When I first got him, he would also charge and bite (gently) my hand. When he did that, I would scoop him up and groom him. He quickly stopped the biting and charging and he is extremely sweet now.

I adopted a bunny when she was 9 years old around a year later she passed the vet said probably old age but she was biting, she was extremely traumatised her original owners had young children who jumped around, screamed at her and even hit her they also had 2 massive dogs who chased her around the backyard. I forever miss her, I’m actually adopting another bunny in a couple of days ❤happy new year 🎉

I have a free roaming bun, she is 7 now but she is blind. She bites strangers sometimes because she can't see if it's a predator or not. Luckily over the years I taught her not to be afraid and now she just kicks most of the time. She is so so sweet for me, but sometimes it's difficult with visitors, even when I explain it to them. Despite everything , I love her with all my heart ❤

Hey! Someone drove by the house that you were at a little while back! It was the bunny that was outside of the house in a little wire cage , black and white little guy/girl and you bought and talked them into taking the bunny inside! Well they put it back outside in the same pen and it looks worse than before. Someone on Facebook drove by and saw it and was asking if “anyone” would go talk to them and educate them on proper bunny housing. I tagged your video to the post and told them to definitely stop and ask them if she could take the bunny if they can’t care for it properly!

Think it’s worth remembering that buns communicate things like “please move” “you’re in my way” “I don’t like this” to other rabbits via nipping them through their thick coats, humans don’t have coats, so that sort of nip/communication would be a bit sore

Oly has a dog pen for nighttime or when my mom comes over with her dog. Of course, he gets irritated when I go in to clean it (mom, you're messing with my stuff!). The last 6 months or so, he's decided to get aggressive when I leave his pen. He bites my calves. He hasn't broken the skin, but he's certainly left dents! I don't know if he's saying, "And stay out!" Or if he wants me to stay in the pen with him because I have had less quality time with him the last couple of months. He's never really alone as my dad lives with me and we have a cat and small dog (whom he bullies) but I am "his person" and he hasn't gotten as many "love" sessions. Or he's 5 now and he's just moving into a Grumpy Old Man stage 🤷♀️

I have to say, that this channel is just pure gold. So accurate information. I have a female rabbit almost identical to Lennon plus 2 others. Despite i used to sometimes enforce some discipline, she never had any objections of how i treated her babies. I could touch or grab them with no problem. Only when they were sleeping in a box, she was sometimes gently pushing my hand away with her nose, when i was doing something nearby. From my experience i can say, that vocal interaction should not be neglected. Obviously rabbits do not understand our language or barely get single words meaning, but you can associate certain emotions to speaking. Then you can make them feel safe just by talking to them.

My pet room is in my home office (my bun and my geckos) and my little shit has his blanket fort right under the desk. Half the time I was there in the summer my toes got CHOMPED. A combination of plastic toenails + my feet being in one of his 5000 chill spots that he absolutely had to use exactly in that moment. Mostly my fault, I like to shove random toys under him and he likes to yeet them away. My toes had it coming lol.

Generally if you wave your hand really fast in front of any prey animal. They will be scared, and their teeth are their only defense mechanism so likely that could be a reason for them biting or nipping. I feel if they saw a snake they would possibly go into freeze mode or they would run and hide ; as snakes do eat guinea pigs and rabbits :( Sadly@@lazyhomebody1356

Well, I have a Giant Finnish rabbit. I rescued him at 8 weeks from a meat farm. He (Neo) is now 2yrs old. He is fixed and has full roam of my apartment with his hutch open for him to come and go as he likes. He is not a fan of being picked up, sometimes he falls to sleep in my arms only to decide he has had enough and bites me, which leaves a dark bruise. Other times he comes over to my feet and just decides to bite. As Far as I can tell he is trying to control. Love him so much but wish he was more cuddly.

My bunny boy is sort of special in this because he also has a medical condition. He has a chronical wound/absceses because he has a soft-tissue non-malignant cancer. He also had (because of it) one of his front legs amputated so he is super agitated if you try to pet his wrong side and is overall not one for pets and cuddles. When I'm out of town, my dad feeds him. He is free roamed in my room but if he is closed inside the room with no interaction and then someone comes to quickly feed him, he does get agressive. He also is used to quickly running to get the food so often he manages to draw blood with my dad. My female bunny (not boonded, in a different room) is not at all like that. Sometimes, the situation for the bites is very complicated. He is a special needs bun, afterall.

I’ve had my girl for 5 years and she never lets me pet her. Shes very territorial and digs a lot, but I love her so much anyways. Shes bit me but not usually aggressive circumstances, usually she’ll accidentally bite my fingers trying to get treats, or one time I was cleaning her litter box and she got curious and bit my butt! I once was petting her and she turned around and nipped me, but I think it was more of a warning since it didn’t hurt. I think my bunny Misty is a little feral, I’ve just never been able to bond with her. I really want to, I’ve tried everything! Btw, she is free roamed in my room, but will run away anytime I start walking in her direction.

My bunny nips me when I’m in his way. He might bite my leg or arm if I’m standing or sitting in what he considers “his territory.” I don’t know if he’ll ever outgrow this. He does warn me though by giving me a nudge with his nose first. Other than that, he’s become sweeter, likes to be pet at times, and he’ll lay down on the floor next to me while I’m at my desk, working. 🐰

My late bunnies (spayed neuter doe and buck) had some complicated history and possibly some trauma I was unaware of. So I never took the biting personally. All I knew was I was their fourth or fifth home, and those previous homes had combinations of chickens, cats, dogs, rabbits and children. So between having various animals around their enclosures and moving every other year (they were 4.5 when I adopted them) they most likely thought my adoption was only temporary. While the doe was pretty chill with my presence, the buck had a point to prove and absolutely hated being handled. I still have a few scars from my first attempts to groom him. At best these bites bruised, at worst they were bleeding. So I always gave loving from afar. Both bunnies took to training really well. (Managed to teach them a few tricks.) While I was waiting for them I would throw dirty socks and undershirts in the enclosure so they could acclimate to my scent. The Doe (Willow) took around six months to bond to me. The buck (Flynn) however took maybe two years to start grooming me. This was set back when Willow passed away a year later, and it was just me and Flynn having to start over. Near the end of his life Flynn never groomed me again, however he allowed me to handle him, snuggle with him and if my touches were unwanted he gave a warning nip (lightly bruised) which was not often. I certainly learned a lot about patience and care with Flynn. It’s been over a month since he passed. He had some health complications throughout his life (misaligned teeth) that strained my finances so I’m waiting a bit before adopting again.

My bunny, Toby, came into my life this past August, when he was 4 months ago from a breeder who didn't want to use him as a stud. I got him for Lily, our 7 year old litter box trained house roaming bunny girl, after her sidekick Oliver passed suddenly. Until Toby was fixed I kept him in a super large pen in our family room, so that Lily and he could bond through the bars, which they did. Toby was the sweetest boy, although very hormonal until he was fixed. Unfortunately My now former vet, sent him home after being fixed before Toby had started eating, and when I tried to hand feed him Critical Care, he freaked out. Thus, I had to take him to an emergency vet, who discovered that in order to ever feed Toby by hand I would have to cover his eyes, so I think the fact that he came from a breeder, who I noted handled him like he was an object, something traumatic happened around being hand fed. After that emergency Toby was fine, back to his fun and cuddly self and being Lily's sidekick, ruled by her. In late November Toby started to growl when I was down on the floor trying to pet him, he would lunge at me, even if I often tried with Lily. He also started behaving like he was afraid. (Now, from the moment we got him, we were having remodeling done in the upstairs of our house, but I had created another large pin in our living room, so he and Lily could hang out there away from everything. Once he no longer needed a pin, Lily and he loved to hang out there together.) But by November all the remodel was done, when this growing, lunging, and biting began. Fast forward to January, and Lily, Toby, and I loved to our other home 3 hours away while the downstairs was being remodeled. It's a smaller home, and at first he was fine, but the growling, lunging, and biting has gotten worse, so bad that I never know when he will really let me pet him. This morning he actually bit me and left a bruise which hurts. It happened when I was on the floor and had given Lily and treat and was then giving him one. Right now, I created another large pin and put him in there with his litter box, food, water, treats, toys, etc.. Lily is now hanging out near the pen, as she wants him out and with her, and he wants out too. The only thing that keeps coming up is that he seems fine and a happy bunny, then the next moment is scared and freaking out. Part of that is on Lily, who even with her last sidekick, likes to play hide and seek games, which scares him. He tends to be first her sidekick, doing what she tells him to do, then the next he acts like she is his mom and needs her comfort. I am at my wits end, as I have had house bunnies since 1991, who have lived long, up to 12 years, healthy and happy lives, and none of them have never acted in such a way, never been bitten, etc. I took him to the vet to have him checked out for anything hurting him, and there, he never growls or bites, in fact they all say he is the most wonderful little guy. I am grateful he never hurts Lily, but a friend's teenager visited when this first started and almost got nailed by Toby. Thank goodness he was bitten. So, I don't know if all of these issues stem from past fears, present fears, and we live in a quiet little house, and they both will be laing on the floor, then he will run and freak out. The whole aggression over treats could stem from being in cage and food being dolled out when at the breeder. Or could this be mental illness from perhaps being inbreed? Or should I have his hormones tested, perhaps he didn't get fixed properly? Any help, any suggestions I will try, as right now he is in the large pen, Lily is unhappily laying so he can see her, and I feel bad. Thank you, Gail

None of my family will go near her. Why does she need to bite?

I'm a first-time rabbit parent, and a few bites from a 2.5 pound rabbit was enough to make me start feeling afraid of him. These bites came when putting one of his favorite foods in his dish. I concluded that this was a mix of excitement and food aggression, and I took a few steps to address it. First, I stopped giving him treats by holding the treat and letting him tear off pieces, instead tearing off pieces myself to give him. I figured he could interpret this as withholding food, making him fight me for it. Second, when putting food in his dish I use my other hand to gently hold him back for a moment so that he can't reach the hand with the food. Since making these changes the only bites have been rare accidental bites that really don't hurt much.

Luna has three bites: 1) "put me down" nip (when I am holding her, which she hates)--it hurts and bruises a bit but not terrible; 2) Occasionally nips my finger when grabbing a treat from my hand (she is usually pretty good about not doing this); and 3) out for blood, lunging and biting, when I come home smelling like other rabbits--I just go straight to the shower because it's terrifying and really hurts. She is overall a very sweet rabbit though and snuggles with me a lot, and my second bun, Charlie, is still skittish and shy but a sweet boy.

My bunnies love attention but don’t want to be picked up. The still don’t bite; they will move where they can be seen but not touched. The only time I’ve been bitten is when I hold a treat too close to the end where they have to bite!

My baby bunny bites me sometimes and i think I’ve learned that its self defense, she’s bit hard to the point where she bit through my skin and i stared to bleed and i now have a scar, so thank you! Ill try these techniques and hopefully her aggression goes away!

This video is for Pua lol He ALWAYS nips me, but he follows me everywhere. Pua has been territorial since he was a BABY! He’s always had other bunny siblings, and a dog sibling. He’s a sweetie, though. He gives me free tattoos with his teeth 😂 I will say this - after watching “Heartland” i researched T-touch for rabbits. This has helped my relationship with Pua and the rest of my bunnies. It has taught me how to more gentle with them and sensative.

Very rarely Cheese nibles me for attention, he never breaks skin, it's a touch and go. He nips and forces his head below my hand. Then he melts while being pet. Usually his go to is digging, either at my feet or on my chest if he's already on top of me and I stop petting him.

My bun is just bad at estimating the position of the treat pellet I'm holding between my fingers. But it happens so much it's funny. The only other time was when she first came to live with me and was new to the environment, she bit my ankle a few times but after that period she has been really good.

My male bunny has good and bad days.... He got dumped in my friend's pet shop as a baby... not sure what happened but he was very scared. He's 6 years old now and he is very relaxed most of the time (stretches out in the middle of the room so he must feel safe) but he has his scared moments... Also when he and his girl get treats or their food he needs to be the first to get the treat so he'll nip at everyone and anything that gets in the way.... I try to put down their breakfast and dinner before they are near it because he used to knock the bowl out of my hands and bite me... Putting it down beforehand works fine. They are free roaming throughout the flat so it is usually possible to put it down early. I never get angry or shout at him because I just have no idea what happened to him before he got dumped....... Also when they leave my bedroom in the morning (during the night they freeroam in my bedroom because i want them near in case of emergency so I can get to them fast) they nibble/bite my ankles if I don't open up fast enough....it's quite funny! Great video as always! Greetings from the Netherlands!

My rabbit bit me one time and only one time. I was kneeling down, bent all the way over and cleaning his litter box, and the little turd bit me right on the left buttcheek. Scared the hell out of me because I didn’t even know he was behind me.

Our last bunny didn't bite. My new bunny gives us a nip occasionally. It seems like she's trying to snack. She's a different breed than my last bunny and has a very different personality... just like people. By the way, she lets us hold more and comes to us more. She's very young, so I don't think it's trauma. It could be a dominance situation.

I have two rabbits that are being introduced to where they have supervised visits and will occasionally be laying together up against each other on each sides of their dividers. Really the only reason they are still divided is because of how nippy the female is to the older male and I don’t know if I should let her tire herself out but I really don’t want to do that to the male. We don’t have the money to spay her but the male is neutered cause we also don’t want to pay for a bunny abortion lol. I just don’t know what to do about it, this video was more about rabbits biting people but I just want to do what’s best for my bunnies. If it helps the female is a 1 year old Flemish giant and the male is a 7 year old new zeland lop I got them both from a humane meat farm. The male cause I wanted a cheap pet and the female because she was a runt and the farmer didn’t want her to die.

i bought mini lop yes at last talked myself into a rabbit- about 8 weeks old- was well prepared with enclossure sea grass mats burmuda hay and alfalfa- and growing my own hay now- and i bonding with her- and sit talok to her through the day- and comb her- andfeed her brocolli and little bit of cabbage- i bought her real pineapple leting it rippen- and i feed her by hand- and sometim,es pet her and she nibble at my fingers- i think asking where food is- cause no food she jumps back some nibbles the hay- but she only likes veggies if hand fed? so i figure no food nibble on me she either smells the food or telling me to get some?? idk- but very sweet i do let her out but we still goingthrough the bonding thing so i let her on the bed so she can bounce and climb and dig in the blankets- she has a huge pen- but going well- she is entertaining-

I have had bunnies for 40 plus years and I have never been intentionally bitten. I have however been love nibbled(when they are grooming you and miss) and bitten by mistake twice both times I SHOULD HAVE WASHED MY HANDS so …. 🤷🏼♀️

Am I a terrible person for having a bunny and a dog? we got my bunny Michaela almost 2 years ago now, (I can't believe it!) and then about a year or so after that my brother really wanted a dog and so he got one as part of his birthday present. (so I didn't really get a say in it) they seem to get along well I just don't know if I'm doing something wrong. Michaela's in a big X pen and has fresh water hay (and treats occasionally) she's usually very timid and she's been like that since we got her at the time that we got her she was 10 months old and she's turning three on Saint Patrick's Day!🍀 she's like the best thing that's ever happened to me and I love her so much!😊 I found your channel recently after getting her and you really helped me, with things like how to brush her and what brushes to get (and she's a mini Rex so the fancy brushes don't really work on her since she has a lot of hair and sheds a LOT!) so thank you for that and everything else!!😊❤

my rabbits been a big biter since i got her when she was 1 year old. she licks me aa lot though and cuddles and follows me, she just bites a lot and i don't know why. i have a feeling ti has something to do with her old home though since she was dumped outside a rescue with her two babies, or it could be from affection

Hey! I have a question. I got my bunny few days ago. She really sweet around me. I think we bond really well, but when is lay down with her she usually hop on me start to lick my face/arm then bite me. Its really hurt and the bite place start to "burn". I don't really know if im doing something wrong or this would be her showing affection. I pet her a lot and she really loves it. She lay down next to me, eat from my hand, play with me.

Im very curious what I can do to make the vet visits easier and less stressful? How to train him to go into the carrier? I have the carrier open and in my room so it smells like him but still it’s hard when I have to close it. I always put hay in the carrier and a treat so he goes there by himself but it is still stressful for him. Do you have any tips? Much love sending from Poland ❤

One time one of my buns was needing meds, the other bun didn't like us picking his brother up to give him meds, so he nipped at me for distressing the sick one. I made sure to lay on the floor to comfort both of them during that time. The other time they will "bite" me is for grooming, long nails, they want to help me trim them lol Both of these reasons I feel are very valid to bite others.

I rescued another bunny and they are kept seperate. Both of my bunny’s are rescues from bad situations but the one I got 2nd was in worse shape. Well Bruno my 1st is now biting me he is nipping and honking at me and I’m not sure how to fix with I don’t want to give up either bunny but he is nipping it’s not drawling blood or anything it’s happens a lot when I clean his poop. My other bunny actually chewed through 7 cords last night 😂 yay me I looked at her and said your lucky we love you lol 7 cords!!!
