They built the EXACT stadium they planned to build at Candlestick. The design of the place works at Candlestick, NOT in Santa Clara where it's hot as fuck in the summer.
@justinfowich6662
Because open air stadiums are good. I don't like feeling like I'm watching baseball or football in a rec center.
@supremeb3563
Lived nearby near Great America, nowhere near as hot and humid as Jacksonville, Tampa or Miami, where I live now.
@nordythenorthman
Next decade, I’m sure the 49ers will explore a replacement for Levi’s. Somewhere in SF perhaps. I miss the cold, wet games at the Stick and I have never been to the Stick.
@akunamatatalopez3963
What blows my mind how stadiums built around 20 years ago like Broncos, Detroit, New England, Steelers look better than this two billion dollar stadium. Hell I take any college stadium over this really😢
@nortonhatfield7312
I think candlestick park was a better place for the 49ers.
@chicagodude8888
Perfect opportunity to charge $10 for an Aquafina.
@manuelgrothe608
Imagine the thrill of seeing the San Francisco Demons back in action at the 49ers Stadium. With the United Football League gaining popularity, it's the perfect time for Dwayne Johnson to bring back this legendary team. Join us in calling for the return of the Demons and let's make this dream a reality.
@Elo2Cali
Yeah it’s crazy. The few parts that are in the shade go for 3-4 times the cost of what the east side goes for. I only go to evening games, or regretfully spend for the shaded seats
@deanwille8130
A Sun roof that only covers the stands is a good idea! Before constructing a new stadium, there has to be a thorough weather report so an architect knows how to design something that adapts to weather
@jtjr26
This was such a poor stadium design. The included all the ammenities, suites, and other features they wanted to generate as much revenue as possible but gave no thought or care to the gameday fan experience. The team saying they will lower the cost of water has to be one of the biggest F-you to the fans I have heard in a while.
@snotnosewilly99
2,000 years ago the Romans had retractable roofs on their huge arenas. The Roman Coliseum sat 50,000 people and had a retractable sun roof, as did the smaller 20,000 seat arena in Pompeii.
@ultimatemaitai
It is an awful stadium. Absolutely no charm whatsoever. Completely terrible traffic/transit options (I'm a local).
@northernsurferboy
Hard Rock stadium had the lower bowl blown out and rebuilt closer to the side lines during the first renovation
@bigk8210
It was meant to replace Candlestick Park... In the same location as Candlestick Park. Right by the water, further north with a big hill to block out the setting sun.
@JK_Rosser_LV
Same thing happened with Snapdragon for SDSU. However San Diego doesn't get too warm and they had record heat(really rare temps that weekend) on their opening day
@lelandanderson8319
I’ve been to this stadium!! And yes it gets hot hot hot!! As a niners fan I hope they fix it!
@Richcool
also, the stadium was designed to be at candlestick point which the open air wouldve left a view of the San Francisco bay. obviously that didn't happen with the Niners moving to Santa Clara
@detroittigers1282
Also Levi Stadium looks a lot like Ford Field the Lions home minus the roof. Both stadiums have all the suites, press boxes on one side, if you ever did a side by side. Fortunately for me the Lions have a roof, the only issue I have is the stadium is downtown and parking is a nightmare.
@chrisguardiano6143
As someone who went to Levi's for a CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader a few months ago (Jamaica vs St Kitts & Mexico vs Qatar) I have to say that for the first match which started at
