San Antonio has had many tornadoes, a small one in or near the city almost every year! And some pretty bad ones about 30 years ago, I'd say we're overdue with climate change. I was 4 years old when an EF3 ripped through the medical Center. I woke up to my mom covering me with a comforter and throwing me into a bathtub. The windows were shaking, the freight train sound of the wind was so loud I couldn't hear her talking to me. It was TERRIFYING! That was near Huebner and Fredericksburg road back when it really WAS just farmland-ish. All or at least most of the cattle that were across the street from our apartment had died. It was an extremely damaging tornado. I'm kinda shocked that 30 years have passed and we still don't have tornado sirens. We're literally one of the largest cities in the nation, but get ignored on the map. Where's the petition?

@@iihxneyd3wii I live the thrill of the roar but oh god is it terrifying and for someone who got shot on the southside this is horrifying compared to that, being shot out is. 2/10 while tornados are 9/10

What kind of logic is that? Just like not prepared for the winter storm. Be ahead, don’t wait till ppl die and then create a solution. We’re just talking about sirens, nothing big. Can use it for multiple reasons

It would make a lot of sense to get some sort of siren system se up for the San Antonio area. Even though San Antonio and Austin don’t experience tornadoes like other cities in Texas, there are a few times per year where tornado warnings are issued for these areas. A good example is the tornadoes on 19 February 2017. On this night, a tornado formed near San Pedro Avenue at the San Pedro Golf course and moved northeast while strengthening to an EF-1 near Jackson-Keller Road. As it got to Linda Drive is strengthened and the damage path was its widest at near 600 yards. The tornado took a bit of a right turn and moved due east along Linda and Sharon Drives where it had peak winds of near 120 mph making it an EF-2 Tornado. A few homes in this area had their roofs completely removed. The tornado crossed Highway 281 near the Alamo Quary Market shopping center as an EF-1 and continued on and East-Northeast track through Alamo Heights. Along its path numerous homes had roof damage and major tree damage with large oak trees snapped and uprooted. The rest of the track was mainly EF-0 wind speeds but with a few smaller pockets of EF-1 damage. The tornado crossed near the Nacogdoches/New Braunfels Ave. intersection, moved east-northeast, crossing Harry Wurzbach and finally dissipating near the Loop 410/Salado Creek area.

My town Boerne TX just outside San Antonio has sirens (Bexar County.) The big city itself doesn't simply because they are very rare for our city. However, downtown airbases do have sirens. Frankly they should have them. I'm pushing hard for tornado sirens to be added to our city, as I'm San Antonio's local storm chaser. Numbers of severe storms & tornadoes we've had over the years are increasing. I know because I've living here for more than 15 years & am watching it happen. Recently just had a tornado touch down in the big city for the first time in 5 years. Last one was 2017. We are getting more & more close calls. Update: Next storm spotter meeting is coming this February in Kerrville & I'm gonna pressure the NWS to put in sirens for my city San Antonio. There's no excuse for not having them here. We do have a history of tornadoes.

Wichita Falls has several sirens and they get tested monthly. Imagine being a newbie and hearing them in the daytime as a 3rd shift worker and not knowing it was a test but, rather, the real deal. The city spends a lot on cleaning the biird poop out of those sirens, (because they build their nest, turning it dark gray to white.) New people who visit Lawton, OK also dropped to the ground when they had Artillery/Tank fire practice when Fort Sill still had tanks.

Man, every big city has tornado sirens and some parts of San Antonio. Do you have tornado sirens? I have seen them but the only town that does not have no tornado sirens that the news needs to look into the sea that why don’t they don’t have them is Kyle Texas

Why no sirens? For the same reasons the streets and houses look third world, corruption consumes the city, the lot of them from the top to the bottom.
