I'm a black guy that grew up in the suburbs and had Enduros as a kid. They were my first bikes and what I first got a license on when I was 17. I've always been attracted to the dual sport, adventure style, but culturally, they just aren't cool. Harleys and Goldwings and Sport Bikes are the head turners and what the Black people I know consider to be cool. But here lately, I've decided to ride what I like. I like Harleys and Goldwings and I have them. I like the styling of the Adventure Bikes too. I love my new BMW GSA1250. I don't find it ugly at all. Now, the farthest off-road I'm going is a gravel road. This brother also isn't stupid. I'm not taking a 25K bike off-road to get banged up and I'm definitely not going to take a chance on getting caught out in the woods in the middle of nowhere by myself . Yeah, I've seen that movie and know how it ends.

LOL. Well said. I love my GSA1250. It is a pleasure to ride. I think you are going to see more of us on adventure bikes as the years go on. It is the best kept secret (well maybe it's not such a secret). Ride safe!

I’ll be damned. I’ve never given it a moment’s thought, but you’re right. I don’t know a single black rider that owns an adventure bike. Just found your channel BTW. I’m enjoying your content. I own a 2020 GW and a 2023 Tiger 1200 GT Explorer. We have similar taste. 👊🏼

Great video Craig. I agree 100% with you especially growing up in the inner city of BKLYN NY. I don’t find them attractive but would own one because of the versatility of the bike. I would want to take it off road otherwise I wouldn’t see the point of owning. Great perspective.

I agree wholeheartedly! Caucasian riders walk up to me talking about adventure bikes, dirt bikes and motocross. Growing up in Detroit city, all I can do is shrug. There were no large swathes of accessible private land to use for motorsports. We had asphalt and concrete. That's it.

I agree, it's what you were exposed to at a young age. We grew up in New Orleans and never saw a dirt bike. Oh, I would love to see you go off-road on that bike. LOL, the reason black ppl don't buy adventure bikes is because " They are butt ugly"...😂

Funny I came across this video…I’m renting a GSA on Friday and have been noticing the same thing on YT. I figured I’ll stand out if I buy one. 😂

So am I and so do I. This bike is not ugly. I'm in the Virginia Beach area and riding to Alaska this summer. I think the rest of this video is usually accurate. But if you ride a Pan America, you get stopped ALL THE TIME with people asking about the bike and commenting on how much thy like it. I'm looking for a riding partner if you're interested.

I am very new to the motorcycle world and am looking at what I might want to get for a bike when I finally get one. Do you find that Adventure bikes do well on gravel roads? I am from the country (you got me, I'm white XD) so I want to be able to drive whatever I get on the backroads at home, as well as on potholed streets in the city. I discovered your channel recently and am really enjoying the content. I look forward to seeing more of your catalogue. :)

They said that about professional Golf, Cycling and Motocross too. Give it time. The Adventure bike popularity, craze or re-surgence has been a fairly recent phenomenon over the last 5 years or so. Not all that long. Giving credit where credit is due. There is NYC super slab apex predator “Gbewingingit” and dirt diving off road “Dan”. Haven’t done a deep dive, but there might be more. As you know these guys scorch the earth with their GSA’s. But I digress. I understand your point Craig. IMHO. Motorcycles are so personal. Product selection , especially motorcycles, is exposure to various products and then most influential is what one’s peers are riding. Riders tend to migrate to a style or the image of the network to their riding friends. Similar to one’s choice in YT channels. However the longer you are associated with this wonderful sport the wider your field of vision can become. Being exposed to or “open” to other great choices as the rider experiences from Rally events, demo rides, etc. Just time. Adventure bikes/Swiss Army, all roads style motorcycles are a unique flavor and require a slightly different perspective to appreciate them. Riding one most certainly helps. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Great points. I definitely agree that what your peers ride does heavily influence your choice of bikes. For example I have a friend who rides a Harley strictly because that's what all of his buddies ride. However, he tells me all of the time that he wishes he had a Goldwing. Ride safe!

That is a beautiful and 100% accurate comment by roadglide. There was also a time when people said why don’t black people ride Harley Davidson. With time comes change and the more motorcycle riding anyone does the more diverse their experiences become with different categories and brands.
