3:33 When the Prophet Muhammad was asked about the signs of the Judgement day, one of the signs he mentioned was "when you see the barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings.”. When asked to elaborate further, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that they are from the Arabs. The book summary of Rags to Riches states: "Born in 1948, in Abu Dhabi, the author knew dreadful poverty for years before fabulous oil wealth transformed his country forever. He grew up in the ruler's palace, barefoot like his playmates, now senior figures in the United Arab Emirates." "This is a vivid eye-witness account of the total transformation within only 30 years of a Bedouin society into a country with the world's highest per capita income.”

Why are people spending billions to build cities in what is becoming an almost inhabitable area of the planet? I imagine that Dubai, along with the entire area of North Africa, the Middle East, and then even further east into India will become too hot and dry, with occasional massive flooding (Like they had in Pakistan: 1/3 of the country was underwater), will mean more mass migration northwards and less people living there, not more. Building where there is little fresh water and desert like conditions makes no sense. The same can be said for the desert SW in the US and even the west coast - it's a desert climate where you have to import water from 100's of miles away. It shouldn't be a highly populated area, let alone a typical American suburban one, with grass lawns and golf courses.

@@yevgeniyadergeim actually the indyan and Pakistanis with other passports is a very very small % of the home country population. India has 1.4 billion people! 10 times more than Russia and probably 100 times smaller than Russia! It’s same with Pakistan: 220 million population with only maybe 7 million outside Pakistan. But in general the problems of crime and corruption much bigger in pakistan than india. At the end of the day 40% of dubai population is Indian and only 8% is Pakistan. But given Pakistan’s passive approach in international affairs and given India’s media prowess, the Pakistanis (and Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans) are simply scooped as ‘south Asians’ so Indians feel less highlighted with 40%share of dubai residence visas. If you add the Indians with British and American passports in dubai then maybe closer to 50% of dubai population is Indian? Regarding Russians, well it seems most Russians in Russia support Putin’s vision of a stronger Russia that stands up to the west but I guess most disagree with war against Ukraine. Russia’s problems not too different from india or Pakistan: educated people leave for Europe or USA and then become Russian-Americans, etc but difference is not many then go outside their new countries for jobs like Indians and Pakistanis do.

The problem with this tower is that it has no economic case. Emaar already owns and operates the Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest tower in the world. They *already have* the tourist attraction promised by Dubai Creek Tower. It already attracts all the tourists who would want to come to Dubai and see the world's tallest tower. Building another, taller tower won't make more tourists appear, it just means the same number of tourists would be split across two attractions. Doubling the operations costs, splitting the profits, it would benefit nobody. It's much better to keep the tower they already have. Another primary purpose of Dubai Creek Tower was to act as a centrepiece for a whole new city district they were planning to build. There would be tens of thousands of luxury apartments for rich people. But then the same reality hit them: Most of the rich people who'd want to buy an apartment in Dubai, already own one. Building thousands of new apartments won't increase the number of customers. There is already an oversupply problem, with several large-scale projects in Dubai going bust because of it. The whole city district was quietly shelved. What's left is a relatively small island of half-empty residential towers way out in the sticks.

'harmony for the environment' admit it, thats just so that they can cover up the environmental impact of trying to build the tallest tower 🤦🏻♀️

I’ve been to the area - and the whole land area is huge - but the area around the tower is empty The start of the creek harbor is there with around 15-20 buildings and beginning to become a nice residential area but it would be a while till they continue in my opinion

I don't think this project will ever be built due to all the challenges mentioned. I feel the global affects due to Covid, completely changed us forever, and the "roaring 2000's-2010's" are in the past! Remember Dubai is in reality a hyperized version of Las Vegas, and without adequate resources... fresh water, food availability, and a stable labor market... it all can turn to sand! 🤔

🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is where the USA is going. I keep hearing this kind of talks since 2010. And Dubai just keeps getting better and all the big corporations are opening offices here. And one of the top places in number of billionaires

Why spend so much to build up when land is not limited? Only reason to build up is because you can't build out.
