This take is elitist and out of touch with reality, I'll explain. Most people can only afford one console, if people could have afforded a steam deck and switch or a ps5 and xbox they would have but people engage in console wars BECAUSE they have to make a decision to get 1 system cause of financial constraints and become locked in for a generation and don't want to feel bad for their decision by justifying not getting the other system. Also, fanboys is a metric to push the 'other company' to their limits. Competition is healthy and yes even the over top support; its similar to sports fans and their fav football team.

I would say if your ok only playing just Nintendo exclusives go with a Switch. If your ok missing out on Nintendo games for third party games go with the Deck. I spent $100 this month for games for my deck and got Fallout 4 GOTY edition, No Mans Sky, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Villiage, Sonic Generations, Sonic Adventure, Batman Arkham Origins, Destroy All Humans, and Skyrim Special Edition. Those games will keep me occupied for months instead of going for 2 Nintendo games for $120. I really wish the Wii U or Switch had came out as powerful as the base Xbox One then there would really be no need for a Steam Deck and Nintendo fans can have the best of both worlds getting Nintendo Games and all the 3rd part games that have come out the last 10 years.

Bugs, slowdowns, installing games, tinkering to get it to function correctly, etc, etc. Such is life with a PC! Don't get me wrong, there will be some Switch owners that'll ALSO own a Steamdeck, like myself. But, there's a reason why console owners and PC owners are usually mutally exclusive. Most of the Switch-type crowd, who is sooo used to the extremely simple pick up and play EVERY SINGLE TIME functionality, would be EXTREMELY frustrated using this device on a daily basis. Especially when docked. I just don't understand why there's this narrative by this KZitemr specifically, constantly whining about the performance of Switch games, blah, blah, blah...you know what? Over 100 million of us are HAPPY WITH THE SWITCH AND IT'S LIBRARY...you should see my backlog of unplayed Switch games...it's insane...Anyway, I digress...My message is this: Any one of you potential SD buyers, who've NEVER owned a PC as a gaming machine, need to do some SERIOUS homework before you invest $400-$700 on device that may look like a Switch, but is definitely NOT a Switch...You've been warned.

Honestly.... the only thing the switch needs is an upgrade on the components so it can run the AAA games other consoles can run. The Nintendo Switch was the one bringing light to the portable gaming console trend we now see. If nintendo is smart, they will keep the Portable model on the market but upgrade it so we can play games like Warzone (not crazy as we already have minecraft and overwatch 2 on Switch) but portble. Also, Nintendo has their own IP's + the eshop where we can find indie games amongs third party AAA games too.... A switch pro (if happens) will be probably the only console you'll need to play almost the most popular games + the indie titles we love to play portably... Graphics and horse power is not everything and Nintendo knows this.... So... for me at least, a Nintendo Switch Pro like model, could be the best console to play everything and portably... sorry got excited with the comment hahaha just an opinion don't kill me... But the Steam Deck supports steam link capabilities, so why would you need to use nvidia game streaming or moonlight?
@KathleenSebree
Жыл бұрын
@@Groose_McLoose you can use moonlight to stream more than just steam games, can stream at higher refresh rates, more client options, and lastly it'll let you use your system remotely. Kind of like vnc and RDP. They're both free options so if you're primarily using steam for all your gaming then steam link isnt a bad option to look into. But personally I've tried both and I've generally had a better experience with moonlight.

I play my deck a little more...having steam and the other stores plus emulation make it a power house portable. It is a good companion piece for someone like me who mainly plans handhelds. I still play my switch for the Nintendo exclusives and other games

I’ve had a switch since launch. I’ve *never* used it portably. I fail to see the point of a steam deck when my PC slaughters it in capability. As someone to whom portability means nothing, steam deck holds no allure.

I disagree with steam deck games docked looks worse than switch games docked. If we’re talking resolution wise, it’s basically the same. But steam deck sometimes has better frame rates and more particles and stuff.

I have a switch and a steamdeck and love both of them. Physical copy -> switch (if the performance is good enough). No physical copy -> steamdeck (if proton is okay with me xD) No proton -> PC I play exclusively in handheld. Never used the switch docking station.

Really cool video RGT 85. Nintendo Switch is primarily a First Party Device, with some really cool 3rd Party Titles and Indie Titles available aswell plus you have that no fuss of putting a Game in and Play. The Steam Deck is a 3rd Party Device Only and with Sales going on pretty much everyday, you can fill up you're Steam Library extremely fast plus the Added Bonus of some PlayStation and Xbox Games on top too check out also guys. The only drawbacks are the Battery Life and the messing around getting Games Running good.

I have both. The steam deck is what I wanted the switch to be. Sadly…..instead of a Switch Pro we got the OLED. Let’s look at the new “No Man Sky” switch port. It’s $79 here in Canada for a low setting game. Or..I bought it this weekend for $33 and got the whole PC version can play on high settings. With steam deck…there are no more ports. You get the original game.

The dock doesn't make the game look better because you control that at all times rather than it being left up to Nintendo or Valve. I think that there should be two game profiles for each game. One for docked and one for not docked. This would let the users continue to have control while also gaining a similar experience to the switch.

I thought i didn't need one, but the little amount of effort it took to get Gamepass cloud, epic, Gog games, gamecube, wii games, etc. working on the steam deck makes it a must buy. This will change the way I play games from now on. Even the little amount of time i leave the house working from home.

They are not the same type of device the steamdeck is really a weird hybrid system that allows alot more freedom then most expect, my full home setup is throttle/joystick, mouse/keyboard, a 8bitdo controller and over 20TB of drives and games/movies etc. and my switch is stuck on the second monitor with just a controller. i play my switch for mario/pokemon/zelda/zenoblade/astral chain etc but when i want a different game i can go to my library of games from the last couple decades and go nuts. I feel like almost every review misses the point of its a PC i put my steamdeck in desktop mode while docked and play all my games that way on a monitor at 1440p or 1080p with a keyboard and mouse, or my throttle and joystick if im playing my space or flight sims. then unplug it and take it to bed or on the go to play with the built in controller. its not a console you don't have a restriction forcing you to use crappy resolutions on a big screen, the issue is everyone seems to forget its flatout a pc and can use the full desktop of a pc and keyboard and mouse. admittedly for some newer games at 1080p/1440p im down to 30 fps but there are so many games im playing at 60-120fps at 1080p/1440p with just a few tweaks on settings. everyone compares it to the switch but i have yet on switch to be able to plug my joystick and throttle into the switch to play a game, or my mouse and keyboard, or play things at 1440p on my monitor with the switch. and i do love both my switch and steamdeck and use them both almost every day.

I have only had a switch since its release as it works best for me being portable. I don't particularly like any of the xbox or Sony exclusives so I'm only missing out on 3rd party AAA that don't come to switch so Steam deck seems perfect for me- now that they are more available 😅

I love my switch and steam deck. I can pretty much emulate everything from the beginning to more modern consoles on the steam deck. I can even play newer playstation 4 and 5 games on the steam deck as well. I collect more physical games on the nintend to switch and play more digital games on the steam deck.
