Do pigs eat their own babies? Although the thought of it might be kind of disturbing, the short and simple answer to that question is yes. Ocassionally a sow or gilt will eat their own piglets. In some cases it even goes as far as a sow „savaging“ their piglet, meaning they will attack, injure or even kill a live and healthy piglet, leading to cannibalism. Let's take a closer look.
