If you just walk into a McDonalds and order food like "normal", you end up having to pay insane prices. My wife and I took our toddler to McDonald's for the first time, and for 2 adult meals and a happy meal it was over $30! I almost walked out disgusted, but I didn't want to ruin my kid's day. Shows that they could have done these deals the whole time, but took advantage of market conditions after covid to "supercharge" profits. This is why anti price gouging legislation is crucial. The second their data sees consumers pulling back on spending, they adjust their prices to give their customers a "deal". But actually they're just taking slightly less advantage to ensure their performance matches investor expectations. Businesses will always maximize profits, which is expected. But during unprecedented global events, taking maximum advantage of your customers should leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth, no pun intended.

I very rarely go to fast food shops anymore, they pushed me away and these new deals they are offering aren't really enticing me. prices are too high, I being told to use the kiosk to place my own orders rather than place them at the register and the food quality and sizes have really diminished.

My local McDonald’s average is about $550,000 in net sales about nine months of the year with a decline in the winter months. If you’re franchisee doing 6 million in sales every year you’re not struggling you’re making bank. And the reality is is that most restaurant franchise own more than one franchise some own 4 to 5 franchises because if you run a franchise in one area and the opportunity to open another franchise in a nearby area becomes available that franchisee normally gets first dibs. So don’t think that a restaurant franchise owner only has one restaurant and that’s it because that most likely is very far from the truth. I just hate the gaslighting that goes on whenever somebody says oh the poor McDonald’s owner Mike, please that person is doing quite well for themselves if they own a McDonald’s. I dont understand how multi-billion dollar companies couldn't understand the reason people ate their garbage was because it was cheap. No one goes there because the food is good they go because its cheap and fast. Now adays its not cheap, fast or even what you ordered.

Since fast food restaurants increased their prices , I have not been eating at any fast food places. This in return makes me lose weight and my blood work shows lower cholesterol, so I’m feeling better. I hope the trend of people not eating at fast food places will make our citizens healthier.

Imagine complaining about the food that's killing you not being the right price...... I promise you, at any point in the economy, eating at home has ALWAYS been cheaper. -_- Stop eating out everyday them complain why you can't afford you 20 subscriptions to feed your online shopping( and more). I'ver seen people cut out 1k up to a month just by not doing that shiii

Its not working as well as they thought, when prices went through the roof people found alternatives, local diners, grocery stores, taking meals from home. This turned out to be a win win for everyone, better quality and healthier food that costs much less. We should thank every fast food chain for helping us all make these much needed changes.

Wait. If cost went up 40% and prices went up with the same percentage, the profits also went UP. Example: cost of something was 8 USD, price was 10 USD, profit was 2 USD After 40% increase: cost is now 11.20, price is now 14 and profit is now 2.8, also up 40%! Margin is still 25%, but in absolute terms, profit is higher.

Yeah, I'm not stupid enough to go back. I want whatever I want to be cheaper. They just try to lure in customers with a "value meal", hoping they'll buy other over priced stuff. Mc Chicken jumped from $1.59 ish to $3.99. That's a 200% increase. Inflation my ass.

Love the fact that CNBC is still massaging the corporate interests. They say franchises have "tightening profits" while not mentioning the fact that this is SOLELY because the franchise fees have massively increased last 5+ years. The $5 meal deal based on waste sheets still ends up being well over 25% profit.
