As a Vet, I spend a lot of time at the VA hospital. I talk to many vets that suffer from PTSD. My father-in-law was a WWII vet who obviously suffered from it. His nights were often reliving the battles he was a part of in the Philipines. I see the same pain in the eyes of these brave men of the more recent wars. I thank God all the time for the many blessings He has provided me and for the other men and ladies that have stood up for our freedom and liberty. My passions about this run deeper than the bones and I won't stand for those who are anti-patriots and apparently do no love this country and all the blessing it affords them. They are ingrates and do not deserve the freedoms. I know that is not a Christian attitude, but when they do not believe in God or country, my human frailties fail to come through.

I’m a Veteran. They were doing construction on the house next door and a truck thumped the tailgate on the back of the truck when it dumped it’s cargo of gravel. It sounded like an IED. I was working in my back yard doing a little landscaping and hit the ground by instinct. I got up and dusted my clothes off, but I couldn’t help but think that I’m this way because of what I did. I’m proud to have served. Most civilians don’t understand (my wife does, and I love her more for it). Most people need to understand that those who come home wounded, regardless of whether the wounds are on the outside or on the inside, need to be treated with respect. I’m able to function in society, but I have brothers and sisters who can’t. Freedom really isn’t free.

I’m a U.S. Army Vietnam-era veteran and years later we found out my wife was a survivor of human trafficking that her family put her through after the Restraining Order was granted to us against her mother and grandmother. That training helped but didn’t cover everything. I’ll have to give credit to Jesus Christ for being with us every step of the way. The distance between Khe Sanh and Buon Me Thot is about 10 clicks. There was a leper treatment center there run by Christian Missionary Alliance medical personnel among them was Dr Frank Thompson and his wife all were massacred by the Viet Cong in February1968. Both in Khe Sanh and Buon Me Thot the questions “Why God why!?!? I look at Psalms 139; 73; book of John, book of Revelation. This isn’t the end, we are only a breath away from Eternity. I choose to follow Christ, the Lamb of God and Lion of Judah, both Warrior and Servant. King David wrote Psalm 55, it talks about PTSD.

He joined the army the year after me. The boy I called my brother became a man and I was so proud. He was deployed and when he came home he was different. We did our best to get him help. Especially after he turned to drugs. We thought he was clean and that he was turning his life back around. Him and a group of his friends had a great idea They calculated out a long route and divided it up to run Each one ran about 15 miles. At the end of his stretch of the run he posted on Facebook how proud of himself he was. The very next day I got the call that he was gone. He overdosed. I do not believe that it was accidental. I will forever miss you and I will carry on for you. Rest in peace my brother I've got it from here

Even though I'm a Canadian Military veteran. I went to Iraq for one deployment, and Afghanistan for two more deployments. I was a part of the Geographical Elevation Estimation Specialist Experts. We are known as the map readers of elevation, and we estimate it, and the distance between two points. I went over a girl, but came back as a woman who suffers from PTSD. I live with the nightmares every night, and some days I don't even want to see the outside world, or talk about what I had to do while I was over there. So, yes. Freedom isn't free, and for those of us that served our country. We still pay the price for going to arms to keep our homes and countries safe, but we really don't ever get back to normal again because we still remember the stuff we did, and seen in our heads every single day. I'm proud to have been able to fight next to the American soldiers. I salute you, and I respect you for answering the call to protect your homes, and your country. I hope every soldier gets to where they have a brighter day, and stay strong, and BLESSED.

I was over in Saudi Arabia and had a brother die in my arms and 5 who have committed suicide in the last 11 months. I attempted suicide on 8/1/23 and took pain killers for years! One of the 5 took 90 oxycodone at one and died...one drank 3 750ml bottles of tequila in 2 hours and died. the other 3, I found their bodies. I have those images along with my brother that died in my arms. I injured my back that led to 5 back surgeries due to being blown back to the corner of a builder from the pressure of an ied exploding a bit ahead of me. PTSD, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY IS REAL AND DEBILITATING. I relive all of that every night and duck and cover when I hear certain noises.

I can’t pretend I know what it’s like but I’ll never be able to fully grasp that pain. Keep your chin up and keep fighting. Find something you love and try to find joy in it. The man I wrote this song about at the first of the video made a huge turnaround. He was struggling big time. I’ll never forget looking into his eyes and seeing the pain as he told me about holding his best friends in his arms as he died. After years of struggle he found joy again when he went scuba diving. He realized there was still hope in the world and there was still joy out there. He ended up starting a business and is doing well. He did all he could to refocus on that joy that does exist. Thank you for being strong enough to fight for freedom.

I stumbled across this song, and it is perfect! My husband (still active duty) has PTSD. We have been married now for almost 9 years. Before I met him I had been researching PTSD to try and help some Vietnam Vet friends I had. Anyway, my husband was diagnosed with PTSD while we were still friends over 9 years ago after I urged him to get evaluated. He had come back from Iraq for the third time and I immediately noticed the signs; I was also the first person he ever opened up to about what happened. I have been by his side ever since. I am asked time and time again why I stay. Why do I stay through the rage and the anger? And I always say because he is still paying the price and he is still fighting a war and I refuse to allow him to do it alone. I owe him that much. The country owes him that much. It isn't always easy, but he is always worth it! So thank you for this song!

Truly an accurate depiction of living with PTSD. When I came home I was completely fucking broken. I'm not sure what I am now, but at least I'm now able to try and pick up the pieces of my own sense of self, and try to do what's good for myself. In whatever ways I can I suppose. It doesn't just go away. PTSD never gets better, you just eventually get better at living with it, or you fall. I'm so tired of dreaming of that leap, or maybe just my anguish to fall.

MY guess is they are probably these little liberal college pussies who don't understand shit about politics and think the military is just full of murderers. I'm in the process of joining the Air Force rn myself so thank everyone who has served, is serving, and will eventually serve.
