I've recently built two P80 Glock clones. With the G-19 clone, it kept jamming during feeding. It's a Gen 3 design, but the only thing that solved the problem was to use the Gen 5 extractor. That solved the problem. The G-17 clone is still giving me trouble because of the extractor not moving enough to allow a round to chamber, but once a round is chambered, it jams to the point of needing a brass hammer to unlock the slide. But, I'll get it fixed.

It's not just a matter of gen-5, sometimes just getting a different gen 3 will also work. The way a Gun Tace works is by going to manufactuer, to distributor, to FFL, to purchaser. Remove the serial number means that Trace stops with the manufacturer. Private Sales are legal. The purchaser can also say they sold it, gun was stolen or lost. However if serial number is scratched off he'll never get that far. 50% of gun Trace requests our dead end. It's a just a lot of work with no results. Serial numbers on guns are there mostly to scare people.

On your g26 clear out the channel, you gota make it perfectly flush and remove more material than it indicates, like 95% chance that's your problem. Its not an issue on the full size and compact but the sub compact has the duel spring that will catch. Also now that I watched the vid, just because it took you weeks to make it functional doesn't mean it will take that long for everyone, had absolutely no issue on the g17 other than racking the slide like 300 times to loosen the spring and get the rails to be smooth, it ate the first mag with no problems. On the g26 took me like an extra 30 minutes to figure out that the channel takes way more work because of the duel spring and I actually had to put about hundred rounds through it because duel spring doesn't loosen as fast.

@@tsafa to be fair I didn't know what parts to buy either, that's why I bought the kit that said "everything you need except the frame". I even got all the tools to buff out the rails like suggested but then I realized it would take hours of effort to actually accomplish that. So I threw some common sense at it and figured if I oil the rails and rack the slide, metal on metal with some oil in between would buff it all by itself and more so it would buff the tiny sliver of the rail that actually makes contact with the slide as opposed to me spending hours pointlessly buffing the whole rail. I also realized the rail is already pretty damn smooth, its mostly the nitride coating on the slide that's creating the gritty feel.

@John Doe The g26 with the hardest in terms of getting the gun to cycle, because of the short barrel and short recoil stroke. I have been told that even Glock OEM G-26 will easily Jam if you don't have a front grip. The difficulty for me was in figuring out that I needed to use the lighter 14-pound spring and heavier 124 grain bullet. Up until that point, I have no idea what was wrong. The g17 is the easiest to build in terms of getting it to work. But I think that the best approach to have is that if you have access to a Glock OEM pistol, build that first because you can test out your P80 frame, slide, barrels recoil spring independently and isolate problems.

@tsafa
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that awesome feedback. When I placed the cartridge into the barrel with my finger I saw that there was a lot of difficulty in pulling it back out, so that told me that I needed to polish the chamber for easy entry and exit. The other thing I noticed was that the Barrel was locking up very tightly to the slide so it would take a lot of effort to get that slide to separate from the barrel when I try to open it. That told me that I needed to file down the edge of the ejection port at the top where the barrel locks. Just a tiny little. Basically I just rounded off the edge.
@samueljackman7631
2 жыл бұрын
@@tsafa I had to do the same thing for a smooth action. They say in order to safety test the lockup, hold the trigger to the rear with no ammunition or magazine, and point it straight up and pull the slide back just enough to come out of lock-up. Let the slide slowly move upwards until you feel the lockup resistance between the top of the barrel and the inside of the slide. If you’re able to get the slide to get stuck then it’s not smooth enough. Essentially, while held vertical with the trigger depressed, the power of the recoil spring should be enough to put the action in battery. (Not letting the slide slam forward.) The key is to actually TRY to get it to stick. If it doesn’t, you’re good to go!!

It takes a level of understanding to build a reliable 80% firearm. I have built a few and they take time as well as attention to detail. The point is to learn the inner workings of the weapons. It took me three to fully comprehend the correct operation of a Glock, or aftermarket and upgraded frames, slides and internals. Now I know what certain issues are. The fact remains, you can build an extremely reliable weapon for much less than a customized Glock. I have found that a nicely equipped 80% starts at around $400. The amount you save can be spent on accessories. After all, P80 IMO is much more comfortable to hold than the Glock. P80 expanded and listened to the flaws from consumers.

I subscribe to many police social media accounts. They love to show off the guns they recovered off the street, especially LAPD and LASD. Many of the guns they take off felons and people on probation are P80 guns. I know that there are street gunsmiths building these and selling them on the street. Not saying this as an argument against 80% receivers, but it is a lucrative hustle for someone to do. Nevertheless, stealing guns and scratching off serial numbers is just as viable to obtain an untraceable gun. Even with California outlawing the purchase of 80% lowers, I don't see this as a means to eliminate those guns off the street. They banned the online sale of ammo and require a background check to purchase. Yet somehow criminals are still getting ammo... Go figure.

I do believe that some of the polymer 80s end up used in crimes, but the polymer 80s end up in the same statistical category as Factory Guns with the serial numbers scratched off. There's no distinction between the two. They call everything in that category a ghost gun. The term Ghost Gun predates polymer 80s by many decades. The Polymer80s recovered from crime scenes are added to what was a pre-existing category.

The stuff you see on cop shows is greatly exaggerated. There is no National Registry. It's illegal for the federal government to maintain a registry. The best you can do with a recovered bullet is say that there is a 20% chance to 80% chance that I came from a specific gun. You can never convict anybody on forensics alone. They just use that to scare people during questioning. Most cases are proven by Witnesses or Confessions in court. The way Federal Gun trace works is by going to manufactuer, to distributor, to FFL, to purchaser.
