I’ve been in a similar situation, intense depression stemming from other life problems and then also realizing I’m losing my hair. In isolation losing my hair would be devastating but not the complete end of the world, but when you’re insanely depressed you are constantly on the edge of completely giving up on life, so any little thing can tip you over and be the final reason to end it all. I do think it’s better to fight the problems at the root and not rely on the rejuvenation of your hair to be the thing that is your saving grace, as that is never certain and can always change. But that’s easier said than done, and I’d be lying if I said the growing confidence I now have because of being able to fight hairloss hasn’t helped me immensely in kicking depression in the ass!

What you just described is honestly very scary shit and thank God I started treatment early and switched to Dutasteride ASAP soon after starting Finasteride as my halt of hairloss has been way more effective with Dutasteride. Many bald men will still refuse to accept they have a huge cosmetic disadvantage and most if not all women despite age still prefer a man with a full head of hair. This guy she described is another victim of Finasteride fear mongering and is an example for all reading this to not fuck up and start Finasteride or preferably Dutasteride ASAP. 100% agreed! When a man is just starting to experience some hair loss, when the temples are beginning to recede bit by bit, he is easily deluded by his own mind. At this stage, it is easy to buy into thoughts like "it's probably just a mature hairline, I'm not balding" and other copes. Later on, when it progresses, it's still easy not to take it seriously, while it hasn't made a big impact on your aesthetics yet. It's easy to buy into all the fearmongering online and pussy out on treatment. Things like "natural treatments" or "i'll start with minoxidil". Only when it gets bad, I'm talking NW3+, does it start to be so apparent that you can tell yourself anything, but the mirror tells you everything you need to know. If you're still in the early stages of balding, you can't imagine how much it will affect you if it progresses. The feeling of being less in demand, less competitive can be crushing for some people. I hope your channel goes mainstream, we need to save as many people as possible by having them be informed about all of this stuff while they are still in those crucial early stages, so they can make the right decisions for themselves. It would spare many people from a lot of pain and suffering that they will experience in the future

It wasn't at a point where people could notice as i still have hair everywhere on the top of my head, but it was getting there for sure. Got diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia (big shocker, runs in the family),and i've finally started treatment. I've been on Minoxidil and topical Dutasteride for not even a full month, and my confidence has skyrocketed and anxiety has all but evaporated. I noticed hairline miniaturisation when I was about 21 and decided to just accept whatever happened. However, by the time I turned 25 I noticed that I now had two noticable thinning patches on my hairline and felt physically sick and went into an intense depression that lasted months. I finally decided to bite the bullet and jump on fin and it was the best decision I've ever made. I'm now almost 28 and my hairline has returned to a NW1.5 (identical to how it looked at 21). One thing I dont hear many people talk about is how ones dating pool will shrink on one side of the equation because you cannot hold the same standards for women that could be held before when you had hair, and subsequently the pool of women who you would want to date will decrease because the more attractive women are less likely to put their standards aside based on a whim and gamble on you holding some other virtue. The issue I have with the bald brigade and their "just shave it" credo is when they actively dissuade other men from seeking treatment - case in point being baldcafe and his two anti-fin vids. For all they know there may be men who went bald due to their advice and have subsequently suffered as a consequence where they may otherwise have kept their hair with no side effects from medication..

Agreed. It probably isn't too late for Baldcafe to save his hair with fin and min. When he grew his hair out a while ago for a video it wasn't as bad as it looks shaved. Acceptance is great and the best thing to do if you have no other option but there are options if you act early. I have a couple of bald friends who never even heard of finasteride and they would have used it given the option so people need to be educated as no man is OK with losing their hair.

The earlier in your social/personal/professional development it hits you the worse the effect. I don't think the aesthetic defect matters, it could be scars, skin discoloration, hair loss or any other undesirable trait. If it happens to you before you've established social and professional confidence it will stunt you. I started noticeably losing my hair at about the time I failed out of college. Can you imagine what that did to someone who was already struggling socially? Never dated, gave up on academic and career ambitions, stopped working out of embarrassment, didn't socialize out of embarrassment and eventually barely even left the house. My anxiety disorder grew to the point where I couldn't leave my house by myself. Prior to this I was going to one of the top colleges in America. Aside from my hair loss I had above average looks. I was very physically fit. None of this mattered. I just suffered in silence reading hairloss forum posts about hair cloning/multiplication that never came to be. I had a parent who told me that there is and will never be a way to stop hair loss and I'm a fool if I ever pay for hair loss treatments. She continues to mock me as I use finasteride/minoxidil/needling to limited success. I want to get a hair transplant to feel whole again. My face is very young looking for my age (unusually so, to the point where every person I meet comments on it) and hair makes a larger difference in my appearance than most as a result.

Spent majority of my adolescence with low self esteem. Already had issues like being too skinny & having feet disproportionately big for my body. It wasn’t until I was around 18 that I started to have decent self esteem because women actually liked me then & I got a fair amount of attention. I noticed my temples receded a-little but tried to ignore it & convinced myself it was a maturing hairline. At age 21 It became obvious I was going bald because my temples were noticeably receded and it was almost spread out to the center of my head where it would form that classic little island of hair above my forehead surrounded by baldness. I’m 24 and been on minoxidil since 2019. I still wear hats every single day. I still use rogaine everyday even though there’s no point because i wear a hat all the time & my hairline still looks like trash. Women don’t even look at at me anymore but I don’t know if I can attribute that to my hair-loss since I have a hat on. Maybe they can sense the low self esteem/confidence? I’m tired of the hair on the sides growing faster and thicker than up top. It looks unattractive & overall goofy if I let it grow out. I don’t understand why I had to start balding so young when I already had so many flaws already I hated. The worst part is I took such good care of my hair growing up. Always looking for the best shampoos & taking vitamins just to still go bald. Meanwhile people who use 1$ shampoo and dye their hair every other week have perfectly healthy thick hair. Thanks mom and pops for not only being horrible people that never took care of me and were absent 99% of my life but also for leaving me your absolute SHIT genetics.

You have convinced me to get back on finasteride after a year of quitting it, believing that I was a victim of the side effects. Quitting didn't completely restore how I was before treatment, suggesting that maybe I wasn't a victim. Even if I had just one of the few, I came to the conclusion that it is a worthy price to pay, because continued use of minoxidil and saw palmetto hasn't done enough for me. With this in mind, I knew I had to get back on finasteride, albeit in reduced dosage size. I appreciate how blunt you are, because everything you say is simply what all victims of MPB are thinking. But you know deep down that anyone who embraces it, claiming that their hair isn't that important to their identity, is fooling themselves. While your delivery may be perceived as harsh by some, I can tell that you are blunt because you care and you want everyone to have the quality of life they deserve, without hair loss being a psychological burden. My parents are the only people I vent to about my condition, and they insist I should 'just shave it bro', not really understanding the frustration. Especially because my dad is over twice my age and is barely a Norwood 2, and my brother who is three years older than me, has no signs of hair loss. Meanwhile I am borderline Norwood 2/3. I am thankful your channel exists, because I will now be going back on finasteride with a more positive mindset, and whenever I have doubts, I will watch your videos to reinforce that positivity and to just have faith in the drug. I had some promising results while I was on it, which was only 5 months, so I look forward to seeing how a year of it will look!

@@itsqlex The real reason for them pushing finasteride and minoxidil so much is primarily due to pharm companies sponsoring them. They're the ones fearmongering the most that unless you buy this + this, you're gonna be a bald pathetic loser. And most our hairfall isn't completely genetic but induced from shampoos, gels, dyes and even food we eat, that's why we're balder now than people in fucking cold war or great depression. And fin+min are the only medicines in this planet which you can force a physically fit man to consume for 30+ years. But he is right about the negative psychological effects of balding. Especially those who have been considered handsome (not to brag but I'm one of them) have a very hard time getting even an average looking girl, when they previously got glances from really attractive ones. I had a married woman fall in love with me just working at the same place as her, to the point that her husband pressured her to quit the job upon meeting with me. Now that my hair is only thinning and gone only at the temples, and girls seem totally uninterested in me. I don't look that bad yet, but they know what's about to come.

Considering that Kevin has androgenic alopecia himself, takes the treatments, and has had hair transplants, I'm leaning more towards the belief that he's interested in saving people's quality of life than receiving money. If he didn't undergo the same stories that a lot of men with the gene, myself included, then yeah I would be more inclined to believe he's a shill. If I'm not mistaken, Kevin has stated he doesn't take a cent from pharma sponsors, nor do I have a reason to believe he would lie about it. what other cosmetic / genetic flaw is acceptable to make fun of? Can't make fun of women, can't make fun of fat people anymore. Baldness is the only thing people are allowed to openly mock these days

You can either fight the change or roll with it. Let me tell you as a bald man, I haven’t had any issues. You create your own reality. If you choose to let your baldness tear you down, then it will. If you choose to own it and grow into yourself, that is what will happen. It’s your choice.

depends on on other stats like face, race, height, penis size, body, money/status, social skills (more expected if u look worse) etc. It's not just a "put your mind to it" thing. You're simply unaware of other privileges you almost certainly have that compensate for ur balding.

@@Betelgeuse2142completely agree. The thing you have to consider is: people will know/ find out regardless. What would you prefer to own? Being bald or having a hair transplant? It’s never gonna be easy, but I’d rather be brave and not try to hide for any longer than I did behind falling out hairs and hats. Hey Kevin, it's your choom from Poland again, a little update after my 2nd week on finasteride, I'm literally having only one side effect which is being able to last longer. I really didn't expect that but the difference is quite substantial. This only got me more hyped on this treatment and my girlfriend will definitely not complain about it either once we see each other again LOL. I will take my time to thank you on every comment section for granting me the courage to start taking the drug. I know that it's only the beginning but I can't wait to see what my hair looks like in 6-12 months

And I also can last longer since i started finasteride 2 months ago ! Lmao The difference is huge !!! Too bad my wife has been in Korea on a business trip for the last 3 months ! LOL Ps : the only " problem " is that I'm going trought a huge shedding since 2 weeks ago ... a bit annoying as it makes my bald spot worse (the crown)... but I guess it's normal (it means finasteride is working really well). Just a question : when can i expect visible results from finasteride ? After 6 months on finasteride ?

@@exactly1176 I’m just past 3 months and experienced a major shed in the second. From what I’ve read most see the start of regrowth between 3-6 months as it takes 3 months for hair to start to regrow after it falls out. I’m starting to see baby hairs regrow in parts of my temples I’ve never had hair in for a while, so it’s been really encouraging so far. But yeah the shed was so bad I now where a beanie to work lol, hopefully the struggle is worth it. Good luck!

💯 I have long hair since I was 15 and always known for this being a rock musician . I came across Kevin's channel a few years back and was considering treating my hairloss ( not enough to shave it) It would devast me if I went completely bald . As of last year I committed to oral finasteride 1mg per day because of listening to Kevin's videos and researching other sources..... Thank you Kevin 😊

Cool video, appreciate you spreading the word about the negative psychological effects of hair loss. One thing I will say is that for Buddhist monks, the reason they shave their hair is nothing to do with subservience to a God (Buddhists don't believe in a God or Gods) but is instead because they believe in severing attachments and renouncing materialism. They believe that hair is just one more thing to cling onto, which causes suffering (Duhkha) so they shave their head in order to remove the attachment/clinging. Other than that great vid!

Unfortunately minoxidil affected my eyes and finasteride did give me low libido so I’ve decided to embrace balding. Stressing over hair when you can do things to improve yourself outside of that is important, such as working out. I’d recommend anyone to try minoxidil and finasteride, but it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t work.

When I first realized I was losing hair pretty rapidly I first panicked and thought my social life was over. I’m still fighting the good fight but I think it’s crucial for everyone to find self acceptance regardless of if treatment works or not. I think men do start to work out and better themselves to compensate for the loss of hair BUT it can also be seen as them realizing there are so many more dimensions to their being. When I played the scenario of me loosing all my hair in my mind I did feel compelled to work twice as hard on my craft and health, and even right now it is motivating me to do it. Every man, regardless of what Norwood they are, should come to this realization, that the real life satisfaction comes not from physical appearing but accomplishing our goals.

I’ve been bald my entire adult life (started losing my hair at 16 and by 18 it was just about gone). So at least for me, I don’t have any memory of having a full head of hair as an adult. Bald is all I know.

@bigd1223 That's actually a preferable situation imo. Like if I were born without the ability to grow scalp hair then I wouldn't care. It may even be weird to imagine myself with hair in that situation.
