Capt. G.R. Choudhary was born in 1950 in a remote village in Pali district of Rajasthan. Having joined the Indian Navy as a ‘Boy’ in 1965 at the young age of 15, through his dedication focus and sheer hard work he swiftly rose to be a commissioned officer in the Indian Army and went on to become the Chief Security Officer of the largest bank in the country, State Bank of India, from where he retired at age 60 in 2010. Capt. Choudhary was commissioned in the 3/9 Gorkha Rifles in 1971 and was at the forefront of action on Western Front during 1971 Indo-Pak war. Leading from the front as leading platoon commander he attacked village Chatarana on the outskirts of Shakargarh deep inside Pakistan & led his platoon to capture the objective. Waiting for re-enforcements & wounded in action in a counter attack by the enemy he became a POW & spent close to a year in Pakistan jails battling immense pain and torture. After repatriation, he rejoined his regiment whereupon his Bn was deployed in Mizoram when insurgency was at its peak in that state. A passionate advocate for increasing access to quality education and promoting Digital Literacy in rural areas he is associated with IN-DEED Foundation an NGO working in this sector.

He was the leading Platoon Commander in the forefront of the night attack on village Chatarana, deep inside Pakistan. Wounded in action he was taken as a prisoner. During the year-long period as a Prisoner of War, he battled excruciating pain and torture. After release, he rejoined his regiment whereupon he was posted in Mizoram when insurgency was at its peak in that state. He excelled in pursuit
