Right? His best known films/character are his creations. He's been in some small parts (Sweeney Todd, Hugo, and some others) but it's only been a year and a half since The Brothers Grimsby. @@lifecamerakaran Pierre Desproges is the author of many memorable quotes, in particular "you can laugh at everything, but not with anyone". Although Pierre Desproges never actually wrote it in his texts, he did confirm that "I do think that we can laugh at everything, but not necessarily with everyone.".[1] The quote comes initially from an “indictment” that Desproges pronounced as "Prosecutor of the French Republic" against far-right Jean-Marie Le Pen on 28th September 1982 at Tribunal des flagrants délires on France Inter radio. In the first part of his speech, Desproges declares: “Two questions haunt me. First, can we laugh at everything? Secondly, can we laugh with anyone?”. His answer to the first question is “yes, undoubtly”. He adds that not only we “can” laugh at everything but that we “must” laugh at everything to “desacralize our stupidity, exorcise our true sorrows and beat our mortal anxieties". To second question, he answers “it's difficult”, in the sense that he, Pierre Desproges, does not want to laugh with anyone, especially the guest of that day, Jean-Marie Le Pen. Pierre Desproges later adds that laughing with “a practicing Stalinist”, a “hysterical terrorist” or “far-right activist” is beyond his abilities.

Sacha was never an actor to be cast! This is an unfair judgement. He is a character comedian and writer and all of his big parts were entirely of his own creation! Yes he ended up being offered a few parts because he is a genius but I feel he never wanted to be casted as an actor in Hollywood!

A genius? A genius character comedian would create 3-dimensional characters, and then create other characters to play off his characters, and put them in creative fictional situations that comment on our society, culture, politics, etc. He creates 1-dimensional (at best) characters and then takes advantage of unsuspecting people or barges into events or situations and disrupts them. And for some reason a fair number of humor-challenged people think this is "funny". It's the creative equivalent of making prank phone calls. It's pathetic...

Steven Tebou you may not personally like it, but he changed my life! I began watching him in the late 90s when he had a slot on a channel 4 program. I was 14 and Ali G and borat were both around mainly as interviewers, then he launched the Ali G show and you can't tell me that his comedy and characters were not an exceptional commentary on political and social issues in the country at the time! He single handedly taught a teenage me to question the rigid political bigoted landscape of the time and his use of satire and irony as a way of mocking and exposing people of power and influence was incredible! The characters themselves particularly Ali G who was also a genius satire on a type of ignorant person who was all to common at the time. I grew up close to where the caracter was from and it wasn't 1 dimensional, there was location, backstory and other characters! and it was close to the truth. His fearlessness in the face of abhorrent people taught me to stick up for what's right and the best win is not one where you end up agreeing, it is one where you make the opponent look stupid or embarrassed! Also the borat book is the funniest and cleverest thing I've ever read!
@suchanhachan

Emily Gilbey I apologize if my opinion came across as too harsh. I certainly didn't mean to criticize your opinion of him. As an American I've never seen his Ali G character. And I've lived here in Japan for a long time and here he's mainly known for the Borat movie and a little bit of his stuff after that, so that's mainly what I've seen. I just remember the whole Borat thing really rubbing me the wrong way, but again maybe that's because I'm an American. I remember feeling he was mocking and taking advantage of many people in the movie and building his career off that. But I'm sure he's done much more than that. I appreciate you telling me about your personal experience with him. You've made me curious to find out about his other work. Thank you! :-)

Sacha had his time. Comedy's moved on and although he'd still be funny with some characters with modernised adaptations, political correctness is far too aware and restrictive to remotely offensive things let alone him. It's not really him that's past it, just the comedy itself can't be nearly as replicated or enhanced.
