@user-yw7pg2pl3v because orthodoxy came from the Greek root word orhos. Meaning right true or straight. That is why orthodoxy hasn't changed because in the changing world around us, the church sould be an unchinging institution. Because the idea of papal supremacy falls apart when a pope from the future disagree with the pope in the past. The idea of papal supremacy also took years to develop in the early Christian church. Yes orhodox christans where in comunion at the pope. But that was because the pope at tye time of the council of nicea agreed with all other cristans at the time. They excommunicated arias as a heretic. But if a pope from the future contradicts a pope from the past. Like we saw after the addition of the word philloque. "For to all who know the Gospel it is apparent that by the Lord’s voice the care of the whole Church was committed to the holy Apostle and Prince of all the Apostles, Peter. For to him it is said, Peter, do you love Me? Feed My sheep John 21:17. To him it is said, Behold Satan has desired to sift you as wheat; and I have prayed for you, Peter, that your faith fail not. And thou, when you are converted, strengthen your brethren Luke 22:31. To him it is said, You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever you shall bind an earth shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed also in heaven Matthew 16:18. Lo, he received the keys of the heavenly kingdom, and power to bind and loose is given him, the care and principality of the whole Church is committed to him, and yet he is not called the universal apostle; while the most holy man, my fellow priest John, attempts to be called universal bishop." -- Saint Pope Gregory the Great.

The Church was not Papism in the 1st millennium. Rome had a special place of honor no doubt, because of it being doubly apostolic(St. Peter and St. Paul), but was no where close to the medieval papacy and its teaching of universal jurisdiction. The Church for first 1000 years was synodal and decentralized as the recent Alexandria document admits. Pope Honorius was condemned at a council. But that would contradict the papacys teaching that the Pope can never error. Rome split and errored. Its clear as day. Orthodoxy remains unchanged. Rome has clown and Pachamama masses. He’s absolutely correct. I love my orthodox brethren, but as I visited the various churches the disunity was alarming, and further research into the papacy confirmed its validity (after over a year of daily research of the various stand points) it is the orthodox who will come back into communion with Rome not the other way around. And when they do (such as the Greeks who are planning to) other orthodox will enter into schism from them, further proving the Catholic standpoint. The Catholic Church supports and advocates for traditional and liturgical individualism, the orthodox are in various schisms with eachother, case closed.

Orthodox Christianity has nothing to do with the papacy Also Christ never established papal dominacy. The Bible makes no mention of Peter in Rome, let alone that he was the Bishop of Rome. He simply converted Roman Jews who were in Jerusalem for the feast of the Pentecost and they in turn established a church in Rome. Moreover the Bible only mentions Paul visiting the already established Church in Rome but there's no mention of him or Peter as bishops of Rome. They were Apostles and not bishops nor did Peter ever claim to be the first bishop of Rome. And in the days of early church, it was Jerusalem and not Rome that held authority, as they all convened there for the first council. And Roman Church had only gained dominance and influence over Jerusalem because it was in Capital of Rome and not because of some divine authority. Not to mention Jerusalem was later sacked by Rome (70AD) and captured by the Muslims (635) and that's what ended it's primacy. Furthermore Siricius was the first bishop of Rome to style himself as 'Pope' but that was more than 300 years after church was established, so no Peter was not a pope nor did Yeshua ordain that office. Also, the title 'Pope' means 'father' and Yeshua made a clear stance against that: Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth for one is your Father, which is in heaven. What happened was that a series of popes, played key roles in establishing the popes dominacy: Pope Leo I he argued that the bishops of Rome were successors of Peter, inheriting this special authority. pope Gregory I He extended missionary work throughout Europe, bringing new regions under the authority of the papacy Leo III set a precedent for papal involvement in the selection of European emperors. Pope Gregory VII he issued the Dictatus Papae which declared the pope had the sole authority to appoint and depose bishops and Emperors. And that only the pope could issue new laws for the entire Church. It also claimed that only the pope had the power to excommunicate emperors and release subjects from their oaths of loyalty. Boniface VIII he issued the Unam Sanctam ("One Holy") which declared that the Pope held the highest authority within the Church And that Kings and emperors were subordinate to the authority of the Roman Pontiff. And it emphasized that there was only one true Church, the Roman Church led by the Pope. And it's membership in this Church is necessary for salvation.

St. Cyprian of Carthage: "The Lord says to Peter: “I say to you,” he says, “that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. And to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven . . .” [Mt 16:18-19]. On him he builds the Church, and commands him to feed the sheep [Jn 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were also what Peter was [apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, by which it is made clear that there is one Church and one chair. . . . If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he think that he holds the faith? If he deserts the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he be confident that he is in the Church? [Unity of the Catholic Church 4; first edition (Treatise 1:4) (A.D. 251)]

You guys say that the attributes are identical to the essence, but Saint Gregory of Palamas says that the essence is unknowable, so if the attributes are identical to the essence, how does that not make the attributes ALSO UNKNOWABLE. From google Ai “The Filioque clause, meaning "and the Son," was added to the Nicene Creed by the Western Church to affirm that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son. This change began at the Third Council of Toledo in 589 AD to combat Arianism and spread through the Frankish Empire under Charlemagne. Despite initial resistance, Pope Benedict VIII officially incorporated the clause into the Roman liturgy in 1014. The Eastern Orthodox Church rejected this addition, insisting that any changes to the Creed should be made by an ecumenical council, not unilaterally. This theological dispute, among others, contributed to the Great Schism of 1054, which formally divided the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches.”

Rome never changed in dogma it clarified the faith which is why new doctrines were developed - to further explain the faith as other churches throughout the world did not. All that Rome did do was change discipline - by changing the mass which was a striking departure from Catholic theology. However, the filioque was done when the Eastern churches were not even really in communion. the eastern churches got angry that the west did this without their consent yet they weren't in communion so the west didn't need to consult the east unless they united so they could have another council again
