Once I'm through college and have a steady income I intend to look into some of what you're doing to slow down aging early. I already have fairly healthy habits - no drinking, no smoking, no substances in general, and consistent daily exercise - but I also have the very unhealthy habit of eating candy and other junk food. As you previously struggled with the same bad habit of overeating and managed to get where you are today, I'm optimistic at getting over this one hurdle in my life. I'm still skinny and fit with an 8% body fat, but that will quickly change if I don't figure out how to put my bad habits at bay.

I was always told this was impossible and now I know we just haven't been trying hard enough. I hope the future of medicine in one for well being instead of profits, and I don't see how we couldn't make this available for everyone in the future if we changed the way we look at human life. I agree that self harm is very prevalent in America. People purposely do things they know are horrible for them like it's normal. Personally as a health conscious person I often feel that others think I'm weird for eating healthy and exercising. For example they look at me judgementally when I politely refuse to eat some junk food they offered. It's as if they think not eating garbage is stupid and not the other way around.

Med student who wants to join this field here. It's important that we keep in mind if we're measuring *markers* instead of outcomes. Imagine I have an old house and I don't want it to break apart soon. I notice that newer houses have little signs on their doors, indicating when they were built, just like mine does. But their numbers are way higher. So I change the number on my door to be higher too, in hopes that my house is now more like the younger ones. Some aging markers may be just like this. So just because some number is more like that of an 18yo doesn't mean that you've reversed the process of aging entirely. That being said, I'm confident that it is, in principle, possible and that further investment into this field will be phenomenally beneficial.

@@deker0954 Well no, it's actually rather straightforward. The body is an intricate system which is constantly harming itself and being harmed by the environment. We have evolved repair mechanisms which somewhat counteract these types of damage - but only to a limited degree. So that we can successfully reproduce. Then the damage accumulates until our body can't function anymore and we die.

I'm naturally introverted and analytical so luckily I spend my time indoors and don't smile a lot. I look much younger than many of my ex classmates who are starting to look like men. I don't have signs of wrinkles or folds. I'd like to know from someone like you who's spent his entire life optimizing good habits how I can stop the organs from aging too. By avoiding the sun, my joints are going to be wrecked soon. Is there any other way to implement Vitamin D without damaging my skin? Any advice?

@@stonerawks9882 You also have to keep in mind that how somones face looks has a lot more to do with genetics than how well they are ageing. Someones face is only a very very tiny part of health and longevity in most cases. @billj4525

A persons face is only a very very small part of how well someones health is or well they're ageing. It's just very very genetic. Some people could do almost everything right, but they will appear to be ageing faster just based on their genetics even when they aren't. A persons performance as they age is what's really showing how they and they're body are doing if someone wants to be realistic about it and how they're ageing. You sound like you're doing great in many ways, but I thought it was important to throw that out there.
