During our Covid Lockdown here in Colorado, USA, I began to delve into my Swedish Ancestry and my love of living in a more "Nature-centered" way. I have been a Mountain man and Pagan for many years so the expansion into my Viking Heart was quite easy. Now, I am putting out the "Energy" to create a "Viking Village" here in the mountains for people to come and experience a more Viking way of Life even if it is for only a weekend or a few days of Celebration. I just came across your Channel and I am deeply grateful for what I am and will learn from you:)

Hi :) First of all, thank you so much! I'm very glad that you found my videos useful and inspiring. Making a viking village sounds like a wonderful project. There are several viking villages in Scandinavia that you might like to look at for inspiration. Birka, Hedeby, Gudvangen to give a couple of suggestions. :) All the best to you! :)

Hello, I just finished watching a series called Viking Valhalla and and it was terribly embarrassing to see everyone dressed like Darth Vader. Do you have a video of what Viking women looked like when they fought in battles? Thank you

Thank you for your reply to my question. Last night I watched a short Norwegian film called Trace by Markus Dahlslett and I was very happy with how the Vikings were dressed in that film. I felt like I traveled back in time and witnessed the events unfolding in the film Trace. Torward the end of the film, there is a battle and one of the participents was a woman. She was wearing a dress with no body armor, but had a sword and a shield. It seemed very believable to me that the woman would wear a dress into battle, because it is my understanding that it was considered inappropriate during this time period for a woman to wear men's clothing. I have subscribed to your channel in the hopes of seeing your video on Viking women fighting in battles.

Thank you so much! 😊 I would suggest that you find people in your area that are interested in reenactment. I find the community to be very welcoming. Also, I would recommend to find some Facebook groups or blogs that can help with what kind of clothes to make or buy. There is one Facebook group called "Viking clothing" that has a lot of information. If you speak Swedish there is a great fb group called "Vi som syr medeltidskläder" (they also do viking age). I'm thinking about doing a video about how to get started as a viking reenactor. Hopefully fairly soon. 😊

Hi Mary! My intention is not to stop youtubing. It's just that I am pregnant and have not had the energy for filming and editing in a long time. I did film a bit when I was in Norway during the summer, so I will try to edit that as soon as possible. I have a few videos planned, and will definitely show more of my viking outfits. I like you sugestion on making a video about viking clothing for everyday life. I'll think a bit about that and try to make something if possible 🙂 Take care, and thank you for wrighting! 🙂

Hej 😊 I agree that doing reenactment relates very much to archaeology. Sometimes we can help archaeologists figure out how things were used etc. Where are you from? There is a good book in Swedish called Skoboken with patterns and instruktions. I'll see if I can think of another good source. 🙂

I wanted to become a First Nations chieftain as a small kid growing up in the 80’s, I read all the books I could get my hands on and was constantly playing in the woods. As I live in Germany there wasn‘t much real exhibits and information to be had. Nowadays it would be deemed unacceptable for us white Europeans to reenact First Nation people, and I have had a painful process of redirecting my love to another culture and landed on preRoman Britons..yes, I‘m weird, I know. Seems like it is so hard to tell anything where it comes to clothes and culture it seems not to exist in any form of reenactment group I have to find near me. As you are Skandinavian I just wanted to ask how you feel about Germans specifically reenacting the Norse people during the Viking age after the Nazis brutalized your heritage for their supremacist views…?! I would like to craft (that‘s my main focus) with methods that are close to methods already found in the Celtic regions like tablet weaving in Hallstatt, but I‘m afraid to … Am I in danger of once again culturally appropriating another culture‘s heritage, and most of all, shouldn‘t we Germans just leave off this era to not be constantly interrogated about possible white supremacist leanings…? I don‘t want to be the sus person all the time.

Hi! :) First of all, in my book, being weird is a good thing. I don't think there is anything wrong with being interested in other cultures - specially as a kid. The want to learn creates understanding for other people, and that is always a good thing. The fact that you are asking these questions, and considering how others would feel about you reenacting Norse people just shows that you are a kind and considerate person. Thank you for that! Personally I think that anyone can reenact Norse people/viking age. Partly because the Norse were never oppressed or colonized, so it might me more sensitive to reenact other cultures than the Norse. The only people I don't want to share my culture with are white supremacists / racists etc. I have a few German friends who do viking reenactment. :) Perhaps you would like to take a look at Hedeby / Haithabu. It used to be a Danish city, but is a part of Germany nowadays. Don't be afraid to get into viking age reenactment if that is something that interests you. People in the reenactment community can easily tell the difference between a person like you who are genuinely interested in the culture and crafts, compared to white supremacists who twist and turn our heritage into something that it never was. All the best to you! :)

I understand your position. Growing up I was told of my Native Heritage but little of my Swedish. Since I was sequestered for Covid I begn to get into the latter and have found it fascinating! Over the last two years neighbors and friends and I have been holding Viking Ceremonies complete with "outfits" (the word 'costumes' sound like a Halloween party situation) and Traditional Foods and the Energies have really supported us! My next step is to create an actual Viking Village where people can come and live for a week with others of the same propensity. As for what you want to do for yourself, there are a multitude of small companies who support Medieval and Viking outfits and accoutrements as well as Crafters who show you how to create your own outfits all on KZitem. If I can be of service, let me know! Wilhjrlmr

When I was a child I went through a stage when I wanted to be an archaeologist....sadly I was told I was too stupid by teachers to do anything other than labor work.
