How did you get accepted to the temple? I know for a fact that shaolin monks does not accept foreigners. Did they change that rule?

Do you know anything about the Shaolin Temple in Qufu, China? I’m planning on studying Shaolin Kung Fu there for at least a year. I found them on KZitem and they offer trainings for foreigns, but I’m scared to make the wrong decision. Could you help me and others, who live outside China, to find a good Shaolin temple to train, pleasee? Great video btw!

What happened to the temple for it to be in this condition that caused you to move out? It looks a complete mess now. I know in history back in 1911 I believe, the temple was destroyed and monks were murdered but this looks recent if you lived here years ago. May you explain what happened in more context please? & is it only open now for public use or are they working to open the temple again ?

why does the temple where you stayed look abandoned?

The temple was founded in 495 AD. The building should be hundreds of years old. They're living the past; not the present from my understanding. They don't use technology probably

You want to learn kung fu but Shaolin Temple was destroyed, a couple times actually and the monks were either killed or displaced. You won’t find a good Sifu there. I’m sorry. They’ve made you into an athlete not a fighter. You can’t learn to really fight with pads on because you won’t feel anything. You don’t want to damage your nerves because you need to feel to fight well. You have so much to learn. I don’t say this to make you feel bad. You’ve worked very hard for years. I just wish you to find the path that will take you where you want to go.

Hey There, where would you advise someone to go then? One of the Teachers started learning kungfu when he was 5, now he is 36. He has been doing competetive Sanda, and has been Master of Fawang Temple for a longer Period of time. Even if it was true that the original knowledge from 2000 years was cut off, couldnt it be possible that a lot of its essense has been rediscovered? Thanks for your time :)

@@vitteloriginal8987 hello, so I wouldn’t advise a specific fighting style Per se because , many styles vary in philosophy depending on the teacher and interpretation, many styles are like branches of a tree broken off from a larger comprehensive teaching, most modern day styles are diluted to prevent serious injury or death in an unrealistic environment. I can appreciate that he’s a serious athlete, my comment is not to criticize but with what he has displayed I see serious discrepancies with his learning. Finding a good teacher is difficult, but to start with some good parameters mostly sparing hand to hand, hitting also with parameters / more in the beginning, footwork, groundwork, kicking, balance, short to long weapons, geometry, physics, principles not rules, the elements. But if he wants to fight for sport than he doesn’t need all that, and if he just wants to be famous than he doesn’t need that either. But those are some important fundamentals for kung fu, in my opinion. He seems sincere, I hope he finds what he’s looking for. But if he’s happy exercising and hitting pads than that’s great too.

read history my friend. in fact yes the temple was burned and some monks were killed, but the monks are not stupid. They stay under the radar and survive the aggresion, then when its already a peaceful time they going back to the temple and start to teaching back

Pretty sure it's free. The hard part is being accepted especially for foreigners. I don't know how he got accepted in the first place.
