@@chetankumar-pw8bf Yes. Won’t be the best choice for city usage though as you need to work the gearbox a lot. If your primary usage is going to be city riding, look for something with better low end torque.

This by far is the best video for those who are confused about choosing between Xpulse, 390 Adv SW, CB500X and 390 Adv X. It becomes heavily confusing to decide between the Adv variants alone. You walked the path for many of us and the way you narrated this experience is just awesome. It was quite a good feeling to listen to the audio and see the video of your ride. i thought i should go for the adv x but when i started the research, most of reviwers are saying its hard to recommend to anyone, the thing is wrong with those reviwers is (ps : im not against them), the most of the paid reviewers or celebrity reviewers are already riding a premium adv like bmw ducati & others brands, they are not thinking from the point of view of a person who came from 125/150 commuter bike or may be as simple as splendor passion or in my case yamaha fz150 ...people like us don't care about electronic gimiks, we don't get dependend on electronics, yes they are good in a tricky situation, it help us like a "friend in need friend indeed"..... people like you & your piont of view is the much needed these days...beacause one cannot review properly if they are owning premium advs, yes they are expert no doubt & there expertice some times go against them while reviewing budget avds..it also applicable for the cars as well, in the end its all about mindset & skills, adventure is a mindset, one can take as simple as a bicycle to leh ladhak & come back...keep it up bro you cleared a big burden from my heart ❤.

@@dipyamankhamaru4748 Even today I would have chosen the Adv-X over the Scrambler 400X or the Himalayan 450. As compared to the 400X, The Adv-X is more suited for long highway runs due to better wind protection, more luggage carrying capacity, more choices of accessories availablity and better service network. Plus not to mention, Adv-X is a time tested product which is still an unknown for the 400X. For example - the alloys of the Adv were further strengthened from 2023 onwards which means it can take a beating off road. That is still an unknown territory for 400X. As compared to the Himalayan 450, Adv-X is more mad, lighter and just more fun. Plus. I dont wanna deal with the reliability or the tube tyres of the himalayan. It doesn’t mean they are bad bikes. These are my reasons for still choosing the Adv-X.

Heyy Sir, I'm 21 year old and just got my first job a year ago in Bangalore , saved around 2.5 lakhs from last year just for bike and i am super confused in r15m or to get some adventure category bike but after watching this video i questioned myself does r15 really fullfill my requirements of doing long tours and travelling, and the clear answer i got is no, So thanks for the video sir, you're really making awesome content. Keep it up.❣️ Now I'm saving a bit more for adventure 390 x yeah i have to wait a bit but it's ok to wait rather than regretting after the wrong choice. 😅

After riding a Karizma, I was really convinced that CB500X was the perfect upgrade. Just two things stopped me from buying it - Price and no switchable ABS. It was in my budget. But I felt it is over priced for the the hardware offered.

Great review, I just wanted to know, I bought the bike a week ago and I'm facing lot of vibrations mostly on handle bars and visor + meter when RPM below 4k-4.5k. And the vibrations are actually too much for a city ride. Did you also faces the same experience let me know, whether the issue is with my bike only or its a general KTM 390 behaviour

It’s typical for KTM 390 engines. These engines need to be revved to keep them smooth. Regarding the vibes on the instrument cluster, it can be reduced. I’ll be sharing this in my next video

I am really confused between a new adv x or less used standard variant since both will cost me the same. The pluses with standard variant is the colour tft, cornering abs amd tyres compared to x. Make me choose adv x

You are better off with the used Std version. If you are looking to have Metzeler then your skills are so high that you can push the motorcycle beyond what the MRFs can do. And if you are pushing it so much, then probably you will be generating insane lean angles on public roads and any surprise could induce a panic brake situation in which case would need the cornering ABS too. Hope that helps.

As long as it’s a KTM, you can’t go wrong with your choice. Just make sure it meets your requirement.

Even I bought Adventure X for this sole purpose. It just gets the job done, packed with a powerful engine and offers what is just necessary, cheaper than duke 390.

The more I think of SW version, the more I feel it is unnecessary. With the low suspension travel you would hardly being doing such jumps which could impart huge impacts on the wheels. Plus Adv390 is not that heavy either that the wheels would take such a beating.

I own an interceptor but ride along with a group where everyone (except me) owns a Superbike. HD, Ducati, Kawasaki etc.. Once in Chennai- Bengaluru highway, I rode the Hayabusa. It's bloody exciting but it was too much power for Indian roads. It's like a death wish on wheels. I decided against the 200 bhp class 😅

Sir, you can add the adjustable suspension of KTM 390 adventure SW on your KTM 390 adventure x by spending more Rs.20,000-22,000 it works as a charm and it can improve your experience on your bike in to 100%.. ✌️👌

Nice explanation. But did you deliberately exclude the exhaust sound from the video? Because that is a big negative for the KTM Adventure as it sounds like an autorickshaw. Other than that everything else in your video is correct. If they can fix that exhaust sound they could double their sales imo

When you ride a KTM, you will mostly hear wind noise. It’s only the passer-by’s who will listen to your exhaust/engine sound. So, rest assured, if u don’t like the exhaust, you will only have to bear it for a minute or two during the warm up.

I honestly feel that the Adv-X is a good option. I don’t feel the need for any electronics. If you don’t like the MRF, you can upgrade. There are several options.

Hello, On the same boat(cb500x waited till this month and till no update). Got news that retro fitting the adjustable suspension is not an option by KTM, hence went ahead and booked the SW version. If at all puncture issues then maybe purchase spare alloy wheels too.

I loved the way how you narrowed down the list from the most expensive & high performer motorcycles to practicality which was ofcourse the KTM ADV 390 X. Almost the same happened to me, the Aprilia RS 457 was like a love at first sight for me & well within my budget too. My love for sport/super bikes. However, after taking a lot of trials of many under 450 cc motorcycles, I found 'the one' motorcycle for myself & that is the Triumph Scrambler 400x.

So far I have finished only the first service which was at 1000km. Second service is at 8500km and my bike has ridden 7000km so far. So can’t comment much on service.

There should be spoked wheels and adjustable suspicion on every adv/dirt bike imo. The sole reason i want to get 3090 over the 250 is 1. Suspension 2. The Adjustable leavers

I got back on the saddle a couple of years ago after a liver transplant, I chose a Mojo because I always had a soft corner for the bike and got a wonderful deal on the exact model and colour that I wanted. I attended BOBMC Ridermania last month at Kanyakumari and took a ride through Vagamon before heading home to Bangalore. On this ride, a friend who was with me riding a 390 Adv, asked me to park his bike once. I had to take it out for a small 100 meter ride to park it, this was the first time that I rode the Adv and was impressed on how light it was (when comparer to the Mojo) and the power it had ( I realized this within 100 meters). Now the question is, should i wait for the new version which is already being spied all over the place. Loved the explanation and the thought process, was on the same lines that I think. Duke would make more sense as city usage is higher. Also, check out the Triumph speed 400.

You will soon get fed up with vibes and buzziness just wait for few thousand kms to run...I know I may sound harsh but its the reality talking with 6 months of on ground experience older models were far better and reliable new models you will get fed after sometime,, and you will get fed up much faster when u ride RE classic reborn or honda highness or suzuki vstorm 250 or xpulse these bikes have little to zero vibes and buzziness but KTM is KTM, even than if you to keep it for long term you will not be able. after few long journey you will understand what i am trying to say. good luck

@@myriadthoughts4421 Very less than KTM... Even I have rode Xpulse 4V I didn't found any..only at very high rpms i have seen.. still i would say he will regret later on buying KTM. I have worked there I know all its pros and cons..

It’s good. Looks solid. RE has put a lot of thought into it. But RE being RE, it’s better we wait for one year before all the issues are fixed. And I hope you are ok with tube type tyres

I also have Karizma from very long time, Past decade there is no bike which really caught my attention.. This is the one bike I wish to go for.

I’m thinking to buy one but for daily commute, mostly to office and 1long ride in a month. Still do you suggest this? How about new Himalayan 450?

Himalayan 450 is good. So is Triumph Speed and Scram. 390 Adv also does everything well. 390 Adv is a proven product. However, pls test ride all of them and decide for yourself.

If you had waited for a couple of months you could have bought the Triumph 440 scrambler. Or do you still believe the KTM was the right choice to buy in 2023

There is always something better around the corner. I waited long enough for a motorcycle. So, I didn’t want to play the waiting game anymore. Whether the Triumph is better or not, only time will tell. 390 Adventure has been around for long and it’s a proven product with good dealer-service network. So, yeah, I’m happy with my motorcycle.

Hey , after so many months of thought process I too have narrowed it down to adv 390x and the only thing that I miss is the adjustable suspension setup which Im also thinking for getting it fitted by the ktm guys from the sw model. The only concern is that will it void the vehicle insurance and can i claim if any accident occurs ?

After almost 9k km on the Adv-X, I still don’t see the necessity of adjustable suspension. The rear one can be easily retro fitted from KTM without warranty issues. Not sure about insurance or front suspension upgrade to the adjustable ones.

Thank you 🙏 That’s one question I won’t be able to answer. Reason being I never took a pillion on the motorcycle for more than 2 KM and neither did I sit as a pillion for more than 1 KM. If you are considering taking a pillion along, I would recommend that you take a really long test ride of the 390 Adv (at least 50-100km) along with the pillion and then decide on the pillion comfort.

Can’t comment on the Scrambler 400 as it’s not out yet. Adv X will definitely do the job. You might as well wait for couple of months and see the Himalayan 450 and Scrambler 400

I rarely ride in city. So, not sure of the mileage in city. Highway 32kmpl at speeds of around 100kmph and 28kmpl at speeds of around 120kmph

Very commendable narration of your journey. Glad i came across it. In today’s world where everything is available in so much abundance, hardly do we sit and think what we really want and need from the bikes. We usually end up buying things that make us look cool only to realise in hindsight that we don’t actually need that much power, features and other gimmicks. Having used multiple superbikes in last 15 years, i could relate to your story and it has somehow helped satiate my never ending thirst for something new to buy. The adventure 390 X is a tool that can double up as a sunday morning bike in addition to being a daily workhorse. To me, other than abs, the lesser intrusive the electronics, the better and sharper are my instincts and skills. Keep it up.

Thank you. Yes it can be a daily use motorcycle too once you get used to it. You will have to change gears more often on the 390 Adv as compared to other motorcycles with better lower end torque. But as I mentioned, it’s a matter of getting used to it. Some people find difficulty with the heat management in city traffic. Personally, I never felt it to be too bad.

Why not buy the SW variant and change it to alloy wheels instead. That will give you tubeless tyres

First you would pay 1 lac more than the X variant. Then pay more for the alloys. And then you’ll also have to deal with the silly electronics. Why would you want to do that?
