Ain’t no question getting ur own authority is the best move. You’ll eventually get direct shippers if you stay at it.

1st i wanna say excellent points made in the video. 2nd i wanna say that its ok 2 lease onto a carrier if its the right carrier. It has its benefits, trucks break down at the most inopportune time. A carrier will be on that quick because they dont wanna loose the customer. Not that you cant do it yourself but if your on the side of the road they can come in handy. Money 💰 is not MUCH of a hassle IF your leased 2 the right company. Ive been on both sides now & yes i like it better under my authority but its not much different than when i was leased on. ✊🏾✊🏾

I just wanted 2 add when I was leased on I was able 2 run when I felt like it. When I wanted 2 chill I could, when I wanted 2 take the top off & drop the hammer I could. Oh yeah I was able 2 maintain the truck because they had a shop also & loved the chrome I put on my truck. There are some companies out here that pay really high percentage on the loads so maybe I was lucky but in the end I still choose 2 get my own authority

Definitely the freedom with having your authority is priceless, now from my experience, to me working with direct shippers is like being and employee, pros is steady work, cons is you basically are committed to them, man we just need these rates up across the board and these bs brokers stealing to much money off top. Hey good video lil bro, you forgot to add them load boards cost lmao. Fkn with you, keep doin yo thing. Peace!!!

I had my own authority, but I messed it up. By not shopping for better insurance company, trying to stay local/regional, and fuel. Now Im leased on to a carrier until I can get my rev back up. Im learning while Im going so I wont fail. Its a huge learning curve! But being an owner op with freedom is definitely the goal!

I wish you continued success for you and the family but, I do have a question about the list you showed in the video and the question is did you do this whole list in one shot or did you do all of those over a time period like when you where working for the company???? God bless sir

I don't know why people think being leasing on to a carrier that you don't have freedom. I've been leased on with Land Star for 5 years, and they have never told me when and how to run my truck

Your Leased To A Carrier And I Am A Carrier. Freedom don’t just come from being able to book freight off landstar board. I think complete freedom went over your head. You don’t have 100% control over your business but Landstar does.
@fabojohnson2302

@InterstateMadeMe landstar has control over the Fright, not my truck. I can come and go as I please, so if you wanna try that argument, then no one really has complete control over their truck cause you still have to be DOT Compliant or they'll Shut your shit down
@InterstateMadeMe

@@fabojohnson2302 i decide if I’m compliant brotha i control that aspect of my business. Landstar makes sure your compliant to run the road and have inspections every 90 days. And I’m not tryna debat at all just say there is a big difference. And landstar can terminate your lease at anytime. You have to follow there rules and I have my own rules in place.

Getting your own authority sounds all nice and simple. You get all the money 100%, when shit start going down you lose all your money 100%. You need a team behind you to look out for you, like a bird eye. I will get my own authority to haul local. Getting your own authority and do long haul is a risk. I'm leased on to a small carrier. Last week my radiator started leaking and lost all my coolant and I was on the side of the road. Everyone at the office worked high and low to get me off the road and they paid for a tow truck and the new radiator. I will pay that later in installment. If I was a one man band, I do be screwed big time.

That's the reason you do it? .. 100% on that person, Alpha males need very little support, just a little mentoring and research. and never plan on failing, better yet even thinking about failing. Its a billion dollar business and there is no money for owner operators? That don't add up, the less business minded people are complaining about rates? Trucking is EZ money especially the way this dude is approaching it. Either you a hustler or your not. If you don't know your worth don't expect any one else to value you. It's been that way since the beginning of time.

Main reason why you should have money put away and bills paid up a couple months if possible. Nothing is easy bout none of this but you have to make good bussiness decisions. Having your own authority is having your own bussiness so you have to move a little different and not be company minded..anybody can buy a truck but everybody cant run a bussiness, so its not for everybody, and with the way the market is now it'll tell who's a bussiness owner or just a lease driver. Not for the faint of heart....

Lease on to a carrier and gross 5k a week they taking 20-30 percent of top. $1000-$1500 every week is 4000-6000 extra a month. Plus your regular maintenance you put to the side.
