So, you wanted a Leica in your Fujifilm, and found that its a Fujifilm, then you sold it?

Did you have both cameras at the same time? I use the M10 with a 35mm and the x100v / x-pro3 depending on the day. Sometimes I only carry one camera if I'm not spending the whole day shooting. I like this setup and I can't compare the two systems (Fuji and Leica), so I can't decide which I like the most😂

I feel that. I didn’t own them at the same time, but experience wise, I’ve been very happy w the M’s and would say I prefer the M9 over the X-Pro 3. I get into this mad indecisive headspace when I have too many camera options and can never decide which one to use so for me less is usually more 😂 Ive found that I really only use the M9 for “work” and use the M4 for “work” and “play” The X-100 is a special little camera that fills that “play” space well for sure though. If I was to ever get a Fuji again, that’d probably be the one. The M4 scratches that itch for me now but if an X100 was to fall into my lap I wouldn’t complain. I’ve looked at the Ricoh GRIII several times as that “play” camera as well but going back to the too many options thing, just haven’t been able to justify it for myself.

This is very helpful. I am a headshot and portrait photographer, in a small studio with strobes and I also do shoots with natural light. Occasionally I shoot commercial and / or editorial portraits. Occasionally I’m hired to capture photos of artists at work, such as dancers or performers. My work is all about people & the human connection to clients. I am exclusively Fuji. I have an XT3 and most recently, a X100V, and I’ve fallen seriously in love with the rangefinder style of the X100 series. So much so, that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3 as my workhorse. I actually like the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good to have an eye on my subject. I am also considering the XT4 for its IBIS capabilities, improved shutter life and battery improvements. It may be a better daily driver for my needs, though I don’t do any video. Would you feel confident to have the XPRO 3 as a main portrait and even a studio camera? Could it replace my XT3? Or am I better off with the XT4 as a main camera, XT3 as backup & X100V as a third camera for personal work? I like the idea of the XPRO, but I’m unsure if it’s as wise to choose all rangefinder style. I also appreciate the big EVF and eye relief on the XT3. I’m 51, and my vision isn’t what it used to be, so I also sometimes find myself composing with the LCD alone. And it keeps my eyes locked mostly on my subject, which I love. I’ll also add that part of what brought me to Fuji and mirrorless in general is neck and shoulder pain. Weight is a factor and it’s part of why I love the fujis after so many years on bulky DSLR’s. It’s also part of why I love the rangefinder style, the size! I come from the early days of film, and smaller size 70’s and 80’s film SLR’s and later, Contax and Leica’s. Thanks for any thoughts.

Had you said, “I sold my Sony”, the dislikes would be lower. Fujifilm fans, calm yourselves. this is one person’s experience that he’s kind enough to share whether you agree with his choice or not. For me, after owning the X100F, the Xpro2 and M43 cameras, I can definitely see the appeal for Leica’s simple menu system and minimum buttons. But the 4-5 times price issue keeps me away from the Q2. That and the lack of a basic tilt screen.

I’ve always felt bad for youtubers like you who change camera systems or sell a camera and have to deal with a whole firestorm of controversy. Like you’re out here just doing what’s best for you and people flip 😂 (and this is coming from a dude who shoots X-Pro3 for everything professional and personal). Like I get it! All that aside, Fujifilm *can be* a gateway drug for Leica. Leica has always been my endgame but I’m loving Fuji in the process. But what you said about saving up for a Leica is so true. If that’s what you realllyyy want then why waste money on another product leading up to the big purchase? You just end up spending more money total in the long run. Good vid 👍🏻

I fell you in every point, that you made🙏🏾 I bought also the XPro 3 because of the analoge feeling, bought also a manually lens to get closer to that feeling. The other reason was also that I can’t effort a Leica m10 😇 so far i really love the camera, it’s so beautiful in dura silver. What I need is a better lens: the area from 1 to infinity is super tiny 🙈

tl;dr: X-Pro3 isn’t a Leica. I’ll add this: X-Pro series isn’t a Leica-esque camera, it’s closer to a Contax G series camera. Always interesting to hear people’s thoughts on their relationship with cameras. X-Pro3 works for me, happy you found something that works for you.

Still using Leica M3 M6TTL and M7. Have an Xpro3 and love it, love the autofocus, love the folding screen for low level street shots and use M lenses on it with an adapter. Works fine but it doesn’t replace that rangefinder focusing experience with the Leica. Good condition used digital Leicas are getting to an affordable price point for me. Deciding whether to get a standard or a monochrome. Glad you found an M9 with a new sensor. You’re good for a long time with that one.

Phenomenal camera collection. The M240's and M10's are incredible and getting to a not too bad price point for sure. Cant go wrong with the M9 either if you can find a clean sensor. the thinner bodies are nice though especially since you're used to the M3/m6/m7... Those monochrome digital leicas are no doubt beautiful

@@AlexCCarterthe M3 is one of those cameras you take out just to look at and hold. Bought mine in 2008 and it’s doubled in price from what I paid back then. Bought the the M6 and M7 in 2004/2005 and again now worth twice what I paid. Purchased during one of those “film is on the way out” periods.

I agree with your points. Leica's have a unique shooting experience and can't be replaced. For me, I love having an OVF with autofocusing and the highlight peaking for manual focus. BTW, anyone tell you that you look like Billy Russo from The Punisher? 😆

I was between a Leica Q2 or Sl2S and a Fujifilm Xpro 3 or X100V........But its literally 5-6 times the price. At that point, its not about the camera but about the Leica badge. Its very simple, if Leica could do or included (hybrid viewfinder, low light capability, leaf shutter with Built in ND filters and included flash, autofocus performance, articulating screen, etc) what the X100V does, then Maybe, maaaaaaybe Leica would be worth it. But, having all of that at less then 3-5 times the price, who the hell would I be kidding (other than myself)?? Fujifilm is just the better option, period. You just want the Leica badge like most Any Leica owner, and that's fine. But lets not justify that by shitting on what is obviously a much more practical, and better choice which is Fujifilm.

I really like your concept of having just one lens one camera to master. Absolutly makes sense and if im quite honest, thats probably the best way to improve as a photographer. I think you were right with your decicion, if your heart wants a Leica, buy a Leica :) Cheers!

That’s exactly why I went with older Leitz glass and first the M5, then the M8, the M9-P and finally the M4. I am totally happy with all of my Leica equipment right now and for the next thirty to forty years after trying a X-Pro 1 and not liking it at all.

For the photographer looking to future proof, it's difficult to beat Leica. They have such a laser focus on the pure essentials of quality image making that almost all of their cameras age like fine wine

@@AlexCCarter Actually the camera systems with the most longevity are the Leica M system, the Nikon F system and the Hasselblad H system. These systems are all useable with film and sensors, the lenses are universally available and last forever and the user gets top notch peace of mind.

Has your M9 had a sensor replacement as they suffered degradation of the sensor in the past. The problem reared its head around 2013/4 after I sold mine and went Fuji... If you're happy with your choice of camera system then that's all that counts in the end... Enjoy.

Im selling mines as well. I love the camera but I only bought because I thought maybe I can get that film look but with the jpegs. I want to do little post processing as possible since its my every day camera. I never shoot on RAW with the X-Pro 3 only jpegs and I also use the cinebloom 10% filter on it. I have an R5 and R6 that I use for professional work. I got the Contax G2 instead that will be replacing my xpro3
