I completely agree on almost everything, I had a restaurant in which I invested all my life savings and more, worked like an animal for 2 years, barley making a living and still fail miserably. End up broke and working in a convenience store for so many years. But then some day I was at my sister's house and it was being power washed. And me being curious I went and spoke with the guy and had a cool conversation 😎 pretty helpful dude and went the day after and traded my 2015 toyota camry for a pickup truck and then went to my bank and asked for a personal loan of 4k. Went to northern tools and bought what I could. Bought the biggest machine they had a Honda GX390 4000psi and 3.5gpm. Some garden house, 2 reels and a surface washer. Bought some wood and fixed all that shit to the back of my truck. 🤷🏽 then I started arousing my costumers frome the convince store to house wash their homes 😅😅😅😅 and that how I have ben operating for the las 3 years until I quit the store starting 2022. Now, equipment...??? It sucks working with what I just described 😕 I got a contract for 7 gas station in December of 2021 in North Carolina, fucking freezing, doing them over night and I swear to God I wish with all my heart I had a 8gpm so I could get it done I half time, suffered that 😢 with freez burn pain. But when I got paid, I just couldn't drop those 4k for that brand new 8gpm Honda. So I said, when this thing fucking blows up I'll get it. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 And then because God is good I was doing this lady's home and se brought me into the garage (not what you're thinking) and shows me this Beautiful inox MI-TM corporation Honda 8gpm 3500psi with hot water enormous machines. And she told me it was her father's in-law that passed away and she'll just give it to me in exchange for the work I did on her house. 🤯😄🤗😆👍 Now I got the fucking power...!!!!!

I got extremely, extremely lucky. I'm not sure where most people can find solid employees, but I scalped mine. They were coworkers at my last place of employment. Worked with them for years, in the steel industry. Started my business, then brought them on board this year. All three agreed to taking a small paycut for the freedom, and less rigorous labor. So I guess you could do what I did. Work for a bad employer in an extremely laborious industry for a few years, then steal their best employees. 😂🤣😂 But as for hiring more? Highly unlikely. I love the lean and mean mentality, and I definitely prefer a small, tight knit crew to a large company with too many chiefs. Keep spreading the word, brother.

The only reason I can see to mega expand is: A) you have to much area to cover and it costs to much to drive from city to city and B) you are looking to get systems in place to become "just and owner" or setting it up to sell down the round to provide a liquidity event. If you can get a one time 7-10x like most other service businesses do I can see the reasoning there. Other for those you are 100% spot on.

Right now I just wanna move out of my parents house and moving out to an apartment where I constantly pay rent feels like a black hole so I really want to buy a multi family as a form of investment. Thank you for this, I was set on growing a company and having employees but I think I will focus more on being lean & mean and save up money for a multi family home!

Excellent point but also as Mike explained in another video expanding isn't always about the money it's about who wants to drag hoses climb ladders and physically exhaust themselves everyday for 40 years. Once you get to that 3rd or 4th truck you can start to step off the truck and focusing on the marketing and expansion of your business and doing more administrative work and have more time for yourself because now you have managers who put out more of those fires for you not that you will ever be exempt from that but reduced. Honestly this is true about any business what you're saying here, some people like yourself enjoy working on the truck or in the trade they started their business around and that's fine, others in the long run would rather own a business rather than a job as some would put it but you have to do what is right for yourself and your business.

I bought over 10 investment properties during my prime painting years….I’m still painting….but the man is right…..the business is a building block to gain assets & to live a free life on your on accord…..real estate produces more millionaires than any other avenue……I would add buy the cheapest ugliest house u can n ur town especially if u no know the trend & I hate to say this but buy where gentrification is about to take place. Yeah I will say there definitely is a transitional period for sure. That time in between going part time and full time and again when stepping out of the field. Those are very very difficult. I’m very big on the mindset of getting other people to take care of the washing ASAP. Being a business owner is all about being a self starter but I will tell you I’m lazy af! I don’t want to be the one on the hook for the work and I don’t want to be responsible if it doesn’t get done. You have to spend money on systems! I spend maybe $2000/mo just on softwares but those softwares allow me to maintain accountability without ever being present. The other thing is hiring that foreman super soon. People think that a manager/hourly supervisor has to be full time but that’s not the case. You only need as many days as you have work and sometimes less. My supervisor works 2-3 days a week and deals with the ops issues, then I have a PT remote office employee to do billing, remote estimates and customer service. I think when you empower people to be in charge, they’ll take the opportunity.

Hey brother. Okay so a fairly specific, yet broadly applicable question: I work full time M-F.. I'm almost done building my "semi pro, budget trailer" with 4GPM quality unit and 12v soft wash, quality hoses, tanks, and hose reels. Nothing extravagant so investment is kept reasonably low for now (under 6 grand total).. I'm looking into spending money on the marketing yet I will only be able to book jobs on the weekends. Do you advise that I go balls to the wall on marketing efforts if I can't book clients throughout the week? I'm really getting torn back and forth on this because I don't want to waste the daily budget on marketing if I'm booked a month out on weekends. I've taken care of all logistics with licensing, finding SH suppliers, etc so I'm going into this entirely legit, but only working 2 days a week for the time being.
