The nail bed still forming is a real thing. When my aunt was 4 she had a little pimple on the base of her ring fingernail. Her nail fell off and ever since then it’s been growing split into two, right where the infection was. In her case it was not related to any nail work but I imagine that increases the risk that it could happen in other cases

@@hathorthecow7146if you don’t want to do acrylic, you can also use gouache or cake watercolors with very little water. Gouache is just a watercolor paint with more binders and pigment, so it acts like acrylic but it’s more likely to have more water soluble, body safe ingredients (although my main concern with acrylic body safety would probably just be staining when you’re just painting it on the nail). Either way, gouache is a great medium and you can control the thickness and the dry down pretty easily that way, so it’s easier. It’s also a LOT easier to wash out of laundry - cause if they’re putting it on, they’re taking it off when they move and use their hands and who needs that headache?

It makes me sad to see that they’re so caught up in the craze of beauty beauty beauty that they think they need to make these changes as children. I’m not one to oppose kids getting to choose and participate in things (just the opposite, in fact), but I just want them to know that it’s waaaay more fun to have memories of doing your nails kinda mediocre because you’re having way too much fun with your friends while you all paint them than the mundane reality of having to schedule hours out a busy month to sit down and relax for a bit. I don’t have a problem with them wanting it, I would be the same at that age and with these influences. @eileen58

Rings of fire are caused from over filing, I think you probably just had a bad nail tech for a long time causing irreparable damage to your nails. Pitting can also be caused by psoriasis, eczema and sometimes even alopecia. Nail Career Education has been doing her own acrylics for 30 something years and her nails are fine because she applies and removes them properly, her natural nails aren’t ruined. So if you were getting them done as a child that may have been part of the problem, but if everything was done in your adult years, you just had a bad nail tech.

I’m 12 ngl and I get my nails done regularly with gel and I have grown my natural nails medium long length. Is that bad for me?

We didn't do acrylics as kids in my day, we went to Claire's and icing to get press on nails. 🤗 Kids getting nails were never normal people just forgot about press ons. Yeah I knew rich kids who's parents paid the first yes man but not normal kids trying to be kids.

There is, their hands are developing and shouldn’t be messed with, 14 is the age I think you should try press ons if you want to, children play and acrylics are so dangerous because they can poke their own eyes and also if that acrylic rips so does the nail with it… i hope this enlightens someone a little.

hey girlll. i did that too and my nails ended up super brittle and thin. like they would fully just bend. try to do it less or if you really wanna do them often you could buy a nail streangthener (looks like clear top coat but its helps streangthen your nails)

That is true unless a girl is prone to picking on her nails or bites them, which is worse than well done manicure

I have a 5th grade student who has short nail extensions. I don't agree with it but it's not my child
