I own several DW pistols, all of which cycle and function flawlessly. I am curious, if you were advised of the break-in period of 500 rounds and to not run any form of tactical ammo. They recommend that you use ball ammo and not hollow point or coated ammo etc during the break-in period.

Just wondering by chance if you sent one of the troublesome mags with the gun to DW and told them what ammo you've tried. Or maybe DW told you what ammo they tested with and what mag.
@ArmadilloArmament

The gun went back with a note detailing all of the ammo as well as with all the mags. I spoke extensively on the phone about the issues as well. 2 attempts back to them with the same issues until I threw in the towel. You can find some very similar threads online with almost my exact experience therefore suggesting that their 10mm line has issues. Once again, 2000 dollar pistol.

I had an issue with their customer service. There is a pretty bad looking tool mark on the frame that looks like a crack. I sent it back, waited for more than 3 months to get it back and they just responded that it's only cosmetic. Wasn't very happy considering how long I waited to get the gun back without them doing anything with it, but the gun shoots great without a single issue over 700 some rounds. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired for sure.

You have an issue with one firearm that nobody else can reproduce, so you condemn the entire company? If you had tried a few different DWs and consistently had problems with THEM, I might take this seriously. Given the totally of other reviews of DWs, I think it's safe to dismiss this point of view.

I have 3 Dan Wessons 2 specialists 45acp 9mm and one Gaurdian 9mm they are without a doubt the best non fully custom 1911s I have ever owned . I would not buy any other production 1911 made today Period. I have sent hundreds of thousands of rounds down range out the 1911 platform be it in the form of IPSIC completion to everyday range work and feel justified in my opinion. I am sorry you had a bad experience with your first 1911. I think it would be interesting to know if the the new owner of your Dan Wesson had the same problem . as far as a problems with finding a holster that would fit the specialists I used Milt Sparks wait time 8 months it was worth the wait fit perfectly as always The 1911 is not for everyone it requires maintenance to run well and practice to master but worth it when you do

NOT Once do you mention the BREAK-IN period. I have a couple of DW's, One had a few jams until after the Break-in and the other has been flawless, I have had some Brand New Gen 5 Glocks that had to be sent back to factory twice with no explanation. So according to your philosophy, Glocks are Junk, Stay away from them..... Tighter tolerances require a different approach, Most custom shops actually shoot their guns up to 100 or more rounds usually with quality ammo and mags before they do a final inspection and cleaning before it goes out the door.
