Being a Yorkshireman myself, I have visited Brid many times in my youth (70's, early 80's) and always liked it. I have lived in Cornwall for over 25 years now, but visited Bempton Cliffs which is close to Brid a few years ago. I was staying in York, but there is a huge seabird colony and spectacular cliffs at Bempton, so we we stayed in a camp site close to the cliffs for a day to see the wildlife.

Eating fish-n-chips for you-lot is the most decent sentence that I've heard: You are doing us all a service! I'm just enjoying a 'huge' glass of wine, straight after cheese-on-toast! That took me back! Every holiday I had as a kid was spent in Brid. My late mother was born there and returned to live there after she retired. I lived there for a couple of years too. I have very fond memories of visiting Sewerby Park. I don’t think Brid is a patch on what it was once, though. The town centre in particular is awful now. Maybe I view it through rose tinted specs, but it never seemed that bad in the 70s and 80s.

Another winner -- even without the lovely Helen -- and this vlog brings back memories of the many seaside towns I visited when I went around the UK in the Fall of 1973. Even back then, I was on a real tight student's budget and couldn't afford fish and chips as often as I would have liked! In those days, lots of shops still wrapped your order in newspaper.

You're a lucky fella. Wealth isn't about pound notes and what you've got, it about this! Loved this! You're so watchable and natural - not everything has to be a pre-planned hectic travel vlog, your ones just flow casually by, inviting us all in, and these are often the best ones. It's like watching a relaxing, gentle sitcom at teatime or something (in a really good way!) Never been to Bridlington but would love to give it a go if we can take our campervan. Can you park ok around there? Also yes to scraps! Out of all price increases, I swear the increased price of fish and chips hurts the most 😢😆 We love trying it out on our travels but do it a bit less often now. MOST DEFINITELY!!! over here in Lancashire… they are known a ‘Bits’… but due to ‘health reasons’ many chippies don’t do ‘Scraps/Bits’ anymore 😔🫣 Once again - thank you for another truly wonderful thought provoking, memories are awash! Love seeing families getting together on a holiday. Today is our Labor Day holiday but being retired it's just kind of like every other day. We lived near the ocean so we usually went to a park that was inland. We'd get together with my dad's parents and his sister and family. We loved playing horseshoes or going into the stream for a dunk. Later in the day we'd play cards on the picnic table. Good to see that you have time for a family traditional get-away in Bridlington, keep it going as long as you can. Thanks for sharing your family with us.

The north beach chippy, spot on, always eat them on the picnic seats they provide or under the sheltered promenade if it’s raining. The Ship Inn was my grandads fave pub, me and him would catch the land train up there when I was a kid, his legs weren’t too clever, my Mum and Nannan would walk up to meet us♥️by the time they’d got there Grandad was a pint in and I’d been spoilt with scampi fries and pop. Happy days. Thanks for the great videos, all the best 👍

Holidays are for fun and to wind down from the weekly grind of work, enjoy your family time, my family always went on holiday in the UK, from lands end to john o groats, the family and my grandparents always met up at a caravan site, we often met our nighbors aswell, fond memories lots of photos, from me getting lost at a seaside attraction at age 8 i think, to rainstorms and water gushing up from the man hole covers, but the funniest and most enjoyable memory is collecting musscles from the rocks and then cooking them in a big aluminium pot on stove at back of the caravan... catching crabs on the pier... or harbor wall. or the time we got stuck at bottom of a drive way to caravan park and had to wait for local farmer to come tow us up hill with tractor.. or the time we went to scotland and inverness loch leven, really hot summer and we had a tandum canoe then and it was really good fun paddling around, fishing was great! We did the same with my kids, took them to the place we went to as kids, but the funny thing is a lot has changed and safety laws stopped certain beach side rides, cost is now higher... you said "daddy cant lift it" then your daughter said "its coz you not trying" that made me chuckle... which reminds me my grand parents had a jar for each of us grandkids and the change they got through the year they split between all the grand kids, then when we met up on holiday we got to use it on what we wanted, from buying a flag set for sand castles or play the kids arcade... one thing i will say is we stayed at center parcs nottinghamshire one year with our kids, they loved it, loads to do great sweet shop... great service... how ever for the amount we paid i could of taken the family to skegness for next 5 years... it cost us if remember right £3500 for 6 of us, for 2 weeks... i bet thats gone up since 12 years ago now... great place for super rich i think... worth the stay, but expensive... one thing i did complain about while we there was the chinese takeaway... we ordered what we liked and it cost £215 and the spring rolls were from tesco not home made, not as good as my local chinese.. and we got more from the local than we did the parks takeaway... the last few days we went into town in edwinstowe and got proper chips and fish from chippy...

Just come across your channel, what a lovely family 💖... Have to agree that Brid is no way the worst seaside town on the yorkshire coast! Why do they have these polls 🤷🏻♀️ I went as a child, we took our own kids and we've a granddaughter now so we'll be taking her too, we absolutely LOVE Brid. We are lucky to be able to go a few times a year, my cousin has a static caravan in Seweby on Fir Trees it's a lovey site 👍 We've been to Sewerby Hall it's stunning place. We walk into Brid calling in The Martonian and The Ship Inn beer garden (best beer garden on the east coast ) 🍺, it's such a beautiful walk, we walk right upto south beach to the caravan park it's just gorgeous. We were there a couple of weeks ago for Race The Waves weekend, it was so busy but a fantastic weekend. We were there for a week beginning of September last year we dropped on a heatwave, glorious sun every day it was amazing ☀️☀️☀️ dolphins swap past a few times, it was so special 🐬💙 it has a special place in my heart Sewerby and Brid, keep trying to get my husband to buy us a static but he's a tight Yorkshire man 🤣 Brill video loved watching it 😊 xx

My grandma had a caravan on Marton Road ( now a housing estate) we use to go every year in the 70’s, used to sit on the beach where u are. My dad used to wander up to the expanse hotel in the background for a tray of sandwiches at dinner time. Used to come back a couple of hours later with 8 pints on board and said tray of sarnies. Happy days and yes I still go back every year

I love Brid and have visited many times. Sadly it's looking a bit tired of late and could really do with a lick of paint and a tidy up. Lack of investment in the area really shows when you compare it to places like Whitby. I'm glad you had a great time regardless of the weather.
