The IUD gave me chronic bacterial vaginosis , which is something I RARELY ever get. I was on antibiotics for about two months straight and I couldn’t do it anymore. I told the gyno why I wanted it out & she told me that I was wrong and that the IUD doesn’t do that. She literally made me feel bad bc I wanted it out of my body. I can’t stand when dr’s invalidate your experience. The IUD does work for ppl but there’s also ppl who have a bad reaction to it. Okay super tmi comment, but I’ve heard semen can actually cause bacterial vaginosis because it throws off your vag’s PH, especially if your having sex frequently, like daily. So if you weren’t using condoms/pull out in conjunction with your IUD, that could have been the problem, not just the IUD. But it still sucks that your gyno invalidated your experience like that! Everyones body reacts differently and they shouldn’t use generalizations like that to invalidate your experience.

I’m an ob gyn. It’s called Lo Estrin “eff ee” not “fay.” The Fe stands for the element symbol for iron. Some of the pills contain ferrous fumarate. You took/take 10 micrograms of estrogen in the form of ethinyl estradiol, not 10 milligrams. You probably had corpus luteum cysts; wise to switch back to pills. Try taking an NSAID like Motrin before a procedure, it can reduce cramping and might prevent what sounds like vasovagal syncope. Thanks for sharing this with your audience. I found you a week ago while in a state of severe disorientation in which I was beginning to recognize I've been in denial of much of my identity for my entire life. I had by far the most unusual week of my life last week. It was dominated from the moment I woke up by an almost nauseous awareness of the presence of a kind of split in my identity. One half of me was the person I always remembered, the other half this new person trying to take over and seemingly in a rush to do so. I had stopped the fighting the new person and was now even in some type of sadomasochistic relationship with them. There were many moments I questioned my sanity, but it wouldn't track very far. There was a physical sensation of being completely overwhelmed, in a far more expansive way than I had ever conceived possible over a far shorter period of time. I found myself feeling appreciative for my experience with psychedelics, in a raw psychological sense. I would find myself repeating "this is too much" at various times throughout the day as I felt like I was navigating emotional rapids in real time unlike anything I'd experienced before. A rush of consciousness. There was a manic element, but it was offset by the far more concerning feeling of tectonic plates shifting underfoot. Completely destabilizing. A kind of unique exhaustion that comes from having carried unconscious stress for years in your body finally being released, even though I wasn't tired. You would not be out of your rights to question my mental health given this description of symptomology, I certainly did. I've believed I'm bipolar for the better part of a year now and was convinced I've been experiencing delusions of grandeur. Delusions of grandeur were my old identity's last ditch effort to continue to be in denial. The reality appears far more terrifying, which is why I think my mind has been fighting it so hard. Turns out my mind is pathologically resistant to accepting responsibility and there's been a lot of unconscious intelligence at work trying to avoid it. After the first four or five days in this state I got to where I wanted to be able to observe the response of someone else who has been subject to a major psychological shock of this nature in an effort to orient myself. I was mistakenly dismissive of the value of fame because of my own value judgment, but it functions more organically with my attention now. I wanted as large a shock as possible and at as young an age as possible because I figured that would yield the most meaningful parasocial feedback. I never thought to consider the role the actual subject would have on the process because I didn't expect an outlier. I have been feeling very scared there aren't as many out there as I recently believed. I keep hoping I'm underestimating the number of people, but everything seems to have moved in the other direction and I start to feel like I'm negotiating with myself again. Hopefully I'm being narcissistic, I'm still very much in flux. There is real existential disappointment in the implication I'm anything special. That's probably been the hardest part to process, emotionally. Super isolating and worrying. When I was able to rationalize your success, it helped me process my ego dislocation without feeling as insecure about things that had hammered my self-esteem previously. More self-accepting. I'm still feeling insecure about feeling disrespected, which is my old ego trying to hold on. I'm grateful for how you've helped me to understand myself. A moral philosopher before all else. I always underestimated the role of hypersensitivity and viewed it as my own unique weakness. Anyway, I hoped my experience might hold some comedic value for you, specifically, and figured it was an appropriate way to say thank you. My intellectual hero is uninterested in such details, even though he draws on a vast ocean of empathy. I've been trying to think of ways to make it sufficiently anonymous to send publicly as I am intensely private as you might have guessed. The best analogy I've been able to come up with for how I've felt over the last week is that of a spy having their cover blown. Been rewatching The Americans.

I’ve had some weird things happen with mine too (one of the strings just completely fell off one day, which my OB/GYN said they’d never seen happen haha). I know ovarian cysts can be a side effect of Mirena unfortunately. I don’t want to scare people off from IUDs, especially since the internet is flooded with horror stories - they’re a great and uncomplicated option for a lot of women, hopefully myself included! the pill is extremly onhealthy for your body
@KayraR1221
3 жыл бұрын
I think the pill is worse though, especially when you try to get off it....I just think condoms are the way to go, and after you've ovulated by checking the 3 signs of it (cervical mucus, cervical height, and temperature) then you can go without a condom until your next period

I have taken the pill but now I have an iud. Its painful to get but in my opinion it was worth it. Everybody is different though. Regardless I would recommend looking into a non estrogen pill since the pill longterm can be somewhat dangerous

When I've taken birth control pills (belara) it made me CRAZY. I didn't realised it was because of the pill, I was moody, irritated all the time, jumpy, my depression came back, anxiety, you name it. I stopped taking it because it also made me hungry all the time and I was good with only eating when I was hungry before the pill, but while taking it I found myself constantly snacking and I've gained quite a lot of weight. Stopping was the best decision is my life.

CLAUDIA, HOMEGIRL! I’ve been reconsidering getting an IUD.. the f*ck I am now.. there’s no way. I mean everyone’s experience is different but this confirms it just ain’t for me. I just don’t love the idea of having something in there for years, glad you’re feeling better so far.

I rarely write comments but i think have to this time. GIRL YOU OPENED MY EYES. I used to feel this awful pain in my pelvis area from time to time (like few times a year) like a week before period should start and i didn't know what was going on but since my mom had told me that her periods were so so bad i just thought well that's just who i am. The pain was agonizing and i had to take strong pain killers to let it go. And the shivers were very strong and i couldn't have stop them. And then i had the worst pain in my life. Long story short i had a cyst that broke and it started bleeding. So i was rushed to hospital and had surgery and lost almost 2 litres of blood. From that moment i take birth control and never had that again. But was i was trying to say is YOU made me realise what was going on in my body for years. And i am so thankful you're open about this topic and can help educate people. Sorry for my english btw

The only time I’ve had ovarian cyst rupture was after getting my IUD. It can happen due to the increase of adrenaline in your system I’ve read. The doctors don’t tell you but I’ve looked up on online forums and tons of women report the same experience. Doctors don’t always keep up with patient symptoms which is definitely the case in the OBGYN arena.

Oh my god, I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured after sex and it was the WORST pain I've had in my entire life. I know EXACTLY how you feel! I had to have three rounds of pain killers just so the pain would lessen enough that I could lie down without crying. My OBGYN also put me on the pill to prevent the formation of anymore too! Thank you for talking about this! I know it's so much more common than people realize and I honestly was never educated on it till it happened to me.

I totally appreciate that this is your job and that you love finding new pieces of clothing, but I think it would be really great to see some transparency from you on what you do with old clothes, any research you have done into slow fashion brands, etc. When promoting brands like Fabletics that normalizes buying new clothes every month, I think it would be great if you could help the other side and at least tell us what you do with the old clothes you don’t wear anymore! I feel like you’ve always been open to learning new things about health and products you use, so I’d love to see you use your platform to talk about this issue and what steps you are taking personally to learn more about it. Thank you and keep up the great work!
