As a non-American viewer. I'm more keen for NYC content since every youtuber and their mom lives in LA, but in your shoes I'd definitely pick the city with more homies, better job, better apartments, better weather, more content opportunities. So enjoy LA :D

As a resident of NY for almost five years I can agree that NY can definitely be a very lonely city at times. Sometimes interactions with the guy at the bodega or the lady who runs your local Laundromat can really turn your whole day around.

Can your next video be how to make friends nowadays? I feel that as everything starts to reopen, many people forget how to socialize and make connections after graduation. As someone born and raised in LA then moved to the SF Area for better economic opportunities, it's pretty difficult socializing with new people and who are similar age after graduating :/

Jedcal I leave you with this word of advice. Make your own decisions on where YOU really want to live. Friends and family can always make suggestions/recommendations. But at the end of the day, they have their own lives and will drop and run if the next best thing comes along leaving you again at square one. Make sure where you call home is where you are happy, comfortable and content.

I'd probably live in NYC. LA is nice, and I have some cool friends there, but it's too far away from home in times of emergency. At least in NYC, I'd be on the east coast still. Also, my fam has a little history from there as well, so it'd be nice. Main prob stopping me.. - being broke 😅

Just some personal observations/suggestions as a native New Yorker (25 y.o.) - *I'm assuming that you worked and lived at Manhattan, especially below Central Park North/Cathedral Parkway. I've noticed that for whatever reason, it really can be harder to make friends in Midtown and Downtown Manhattan. Socioeconomic dividing lines might play more of a role in that than it should. *One possible reason: most longtime New Yorkers live in the outer boroughs. A significant amount of people in Manhattan (especially Midtown and Downtown) may tend to be transitional types who aren't that interested in knowing their neighbors, at least from what I see. So both are in New York for different reasons - most of those in Midtown/Downtown are here for specific goals where socializing is done mainly for career advancement, while those in the outer boroughs are here to make a stable living in their community. *It's only within the past 10 years that there is no working class majority in Manhattan. That has never happened before in City history, and undoubtedly that has had an impact on social dynamics within the borough. *Social trust and cohesion in American society has declined significantly, so in many ways, this is somewhat a national problem. New York has the benefit of being a pedestrian city, so it might not be as bad here as in other cities. *Strike up a conversation with the local shopkeeper, bodega guy, or barber (which again might be easier in the outer boroughs). I made some friendships that way. *In many ways, the key to making friends in New York is putting yourself out there. It's harder to find friends if you're not out there in a way that's visible. Join a club (maybe photography?), attend a class, meet people at the gym, volunteer someplace. There's always something going on somewhere in the City. *Don't discount the outer boroughs. They've got some very vibrant neighborhoods, institutions, and meetup spots that you might like. The Museum of the Moving Image is right across the East River in Astoria. The Steinway district has some of the busiest hookah hubs in the City. City Island in the Bronx has a plethora of seafood restaurants. The Queens Night Market in Flushing Meadows has a huge variety of food and crafts. There's a huge subway museum in Downtown Brooklyn (virtual now bc of COVID). The rides at Coney Island get really busy this time of year. These are all places where you can meet new people or spent time with acquaintances (which will hopefully become friends). Summary: You can make friends in New York, but it takes just a little effort. Be smart (especially street smart) but don't shut yourself in either. Put yourself out there, be genuine, be wise and discerning, and people will gravitate toward you.

@@jedcal No problem at all. I'm actually glad that you found something useful in what I said. I could tell even more if you want, depending on your interests. For example, in case you like MMA (since you're already into kickboxing), there's a really busy MMA gym down on Canal Street. At least, it was busy before COVID. I know a guy who goes there regularly. I guess a better question is - what are you interested in?

Each city is unique. I think it just depends on which city would offer you the most growth, which city would be best for your mental growth and health as well. Finances of course play a big part, but I tend to look at the physical and mental health benefits on top of financial when it comes to choosing a new city. Being a Native American who’s tribe is heavily rooted in that area of SoCal, I would probably choose SoCal over New York. Since it would check all the boxes of helping me grow physically and mentally and spiritually. Regardless of what choice you choose down the road, I hope you are happy and continue to grow and succeed in life.
