It sounds good to take time before go to work, but especially when I work from home I feel to rush on my desk to do not waste time and to be finished with work earlier. So for me it’s hard to take this time with feeling not stressed inside 😟🫣

For the last month everyday I spend 2-3 watching your videos over and over staring at your Adam's Apple bouncing up and down. So I'm closjng in on almost 90 hours of watching your throat in a month

Been fantasizing about what I want to do to that cartilage my hands are abnormally huge like 13 inches I have huge hands you have a long skinny .......... I think it would be fun for both of us if I was able to get my hands on it and more than likely it would break I break everything with these hands on accident they are strong

Oh my God, I'm not the only one! I stopped everything, yoga, meditation, lemon water with ACV, intermittent fasting... I was killing myself, trying to get my mental health in order and trying to lose those extra pounds. And guess what! I'm skinnier than I've ever been, less bloated, and I'm still working on my mental health. I often fall into the rut of wanting to be overly productive, burning out and beating myself up about it. I love your honesty and how you're not proclaiming this new lifestyle to be THE thing, but simply, what you're doing and sharing your experiences. Lots of love from Portugal

I have done the same thing as you. I was obsessed with morning routines but somewhere along the line I just stopped and let myself sleep and then when I woke up I would let myself do what I wanted and I never looked back. The only difference is I tend to spend the first two hours in bed where I sip my coffee, read, journal or whatever I desire. I love being in bed. I could honestly live there.

Checklists so quickly become tyrants in my head, too. Agree on having the space to choose… I love that you keep experimenting & noticing. And that you keep it real.

OMG you are SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE. I feel better knowing someone else FEELS the same way I feel. I am a Single Mom and my biggest hurdle is getting my kid to school on time and he gives me a hard time almost every single morning which throws me off + with juggling so much right now while I do Gig Work / Freelance work while looking for a full time job -I can't seem to get into a strict routine. I recently started finding as many Slow Productivity videos just to ease the way I feel when I can't get everything done because I have so much to do! Things popping up going wrong, one time deadlines + upkeep of my body, skin, my household = it's all driving me nuts in my daily life. It's too much and life is burning me out already. It's only when I work for someone else with that structured full time job I can put everything else in my life naturally at a routine. My days are NOT the same. If i suddenly get an Etsy order - that is my first priority to get it to the post office THAT DAY so I can keep my Seller Status in good standing. Somedays I get out and do Gig Work first thing in my day, while other days I need a full day to relax a little into content creation and being on a laptop most of the day. I too have reached a point where I will ditch my huge To Do List for a simple post it! Just b/c sometimes it gives me ANXIETY to see anymore than 2 or 3 things to do THAT DAY.

Omg this is def me and I’m a productivity person too. This was so helpful. I have felt that morning routines stress me out bc of the “checklist” nature of them and feeling like I needed to do things in a certain order. When now I realize I would prob also work better if I ask myself - what do I need this morning to ground my day. That is such a huge mind shift! Thank you for this!!

Mariah!! Thank YOU for being here!! (I was literally just thinking about my January videos from last year this morning and how you always left such kind thoughtful comments!!) I feel you SO much - I get how they can be such a helpful tool for people, but for my personality they added so much stress!

I love that you said that after quitting your morning routine, a lot of the things that were such a struggle before became natural. I know that was not your goal, but I do find it so interesting and wonderful. As a Christian I feel we are truly spirit beings and taking the pressure off is nourishment for the soul and part of experiencing Gods love. I am going to try this "unroutine" as well, so thank you! I also like the keeping the phone away from bed. I find its too easy to reach for in the morning and stay in bed, feeling that angst as well.

I like what you said about not starting work until 9:00 after waking up at 6:00. I tend to look at my never ending to do list within a few minutes of waking up, and before I go to bed. I think I'll make it a point to check it an hour after waking and an hour before going to sleep instead. I love the slow living movement, it has been so inspiring and helpful to me since I live with chronic stress and anxiety. Thank you so much for the video! 😊

I’m a huge routine person but this makes a lot of sense. My routine used to be super concrete. Up at 6am, workout, personal growth etc. but now a days, I’m pregnant with my first child and having a routine has been difficult since my sleep is hit or miss and a lot of hormone fluctuations. I’ve woken up with the same frustration of feeling like I’m starting over. I may start implementing this and just do what I feel like needs to be done in the morning without having a set schedule. With a baby coming, I’m sure it’s going to change every day 😂 I’m new to your channel but your videos have been very helpful so far. Thank you for all you do! ❤️

Thank you so much for making this video. I really enjoyed it. Especially the point about getting right out of bed. The snoozing of my alarm and getting “5 more minutes” is not actually giving me more rest it’s, like you said, making me feel angst. Also, the importance of the morning in general, how it sets the tone for the day…and the encouragement that we can start the day as a different person from today…is so motivating. Thank you! I am a new subscriber and really finding value in your videos !

I have been looking into slow living more recently and just discovered your channel. I have tried morning routines but also found them hard to stick to and forced. Since the pandemic I now predominately work from home and I have also found that how my morning goes carries through into the rest of my day. So for example if I’m on my phone a lot in the morning I usually end up struggling to focus and feeling overwhelmed at work. Since working from home I have naturally moved away from routines and into mornings where l give myself time to get ready more slowly (so I don’t feel rushed) and trying to stay off my phone and be present. I’m not perfect but I am trying to reset my mindset towards slow living with less focus on productivity and perfectionism.

I have some non-negotiables: drink water (first thing), get something in my belly (and coffee) and walk my dogs, and put on clothing/bare minimum hygiene routine. But every morning is somewhat different.

Change your checklist to "What Have I Done Today?" This is what I did, and it made a world of difference. Instead of looking at unchecked boxes, as failure, the checked boxes give you a pat on the back for accomplishing so much. It certainly is a head game, but it really does make a huge difference.
