Sad. I'm a long distance runner and I stopped smoking cigars regularly because of this, as well. At most I'll have one cigar every two weeks, but usually once a month. I could do once a week, but I'd rather not just for performance sake. But I love both! 😥

I stopped smoking Cigars it’s been months since I’ve had one. Why you may ask? Because I live in the North where it’s very cold out and it’s winter here now. I would rather not spend the extra money on equipment to keep me warm outside and the struggles of keeping a cigar lit in the cold. I’ve been waiting patiently for spring and the warmer weather to come. I would move south if I could but financially I cannot right now. I know your pain.

The evidence is not 100% on this topic, but there does seem to be a solid amount of data showing an extended healing time for wounds particularly and probably for illnesses. It's obviously much more significant with someone smoking many cigarettes a day, vaping all day, using smokeless tobacco all day, or smoking cigars in higher volumes throughout the day, chewing nicotine gum or using nicotine lozenges or patches throughout the day, etc. But the impact does seem to be measurable even with only 1 cigarette's worth of nicotine per day. Some will be worse than others and how much is used will play a significant role but even just 1 cigar a day can possibly slow wound healing time even if it's barely noticeable. It's probably not absolutely necessary to quit while healing, especially from something like a surgery, but it's definitely the smart move.
