If you go over a piece with natural and decide you want a darker finish can you do a second coat of say dark walnut?

Thank you for you informative video. I was initially thinking of using Tung Oil but the 6 coats and long drying times were off putting. Though the Danish oil seems just the thing to use instead. Thanks. 🙂

Hey! I saw your video on stripping paint from wood furniture, but I can't seem to find it at the moment so I'm commenting here! Anyway, I've run into some difficulties and wondering if you have any tips. It's a solid wood cabinet (oak or maple, I think) that was painted over. I went at it with a sander, but it was very slow going so I decided to use Citrastrip. The citrastrip helped loosen up the paint, but underneath the paint there seems to be some kind of blond varnish that I just can't seem to get at with the scraper. I added more citrastrip but now I'm just left with a goopy mess on top of this varnish layer. I wish I could just finish the job with the sander, but the crud (mixture of paint and stripper) is making that really hard. Wondering if you have any ideas!

Hi! It sounds like you need to scrape off the goopy layer, if it's thick and soft, then scrub the remaining residue with mineral spirits and a paint stripping scrubbing pad. If your furniture has slightly sunken grain, it's probably Oak. Maple is smooth. :) Good luck!

I just want to confirm, you can paint with latex over Danish oil? Won't it react and peel?

Are you wanting to paint furniture? I wouldn’t use latex paint on furniture. It takes too long to fully dry and cure. So it’s easy to dent up. But, If you apply Danish Oil, wipe off the excess, then let it fully dry (per instructions on bottle) then you can go right over it with furniture paints (like acrylic and chalk paint).

Just curious if your thumbnail title was intentional or just a Freudian slip? lol.

I think you're stretching a bit to find a Freudian slip here. Maybe if I had titled it " soft and hard wood". 😂
