I hadn't really thought about how I import games before, but it's actually really easy to just wait until I have several to order all at once. (It's not like I'm going to be playing any of them immediately anyway.) That's a really good idea!

Importing from Brazil can take up to 9 months to arrive. Besides, sometimes the posts steal from you or tax 200% of the value (including shipping costs). Its quite hard to be a gamer in the third world.

I'm going to start slowing down retro game collecting... I mean I have everything I've always wanted. All the games I wish I had in my childhood. The older I get the less time I have gaming. Also retro game collecting is too expensive if you want a CIB :(

Milla! Great conversation here, for me the whole having physical for me is usually coming down to cost as I get alot of stuff usually in sales haha, maybe its also my age coming into play as well, but your reasoning is a really good one! great topic to discuss :)

Getting physical games in sales is actually better than not at all as sometimes stores will just throw them out instead (GameStop US has been caught out on this before). Thanks for your insight (and for watching) John!

I agree so much on the accessability/quality of life features in remakes. I enjoy a lot of older games but the grinding really kills it for me in a lot of them so having the option to speed up, skip random encounters, etc. can actually make me enjoy a game I would have given up on otherwise. Also team all games should have an easy mode. Totally understand all your other points. I've never properly collected games myself since import costs to Iceland are just way too high and we don't get anything but the most popular games in stores here, digital is so much more affordable. Not to mention takes less space and, as you said, less plastic.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! And also, your perspective on gaming in Iceland was interesting to read! :)

@@millasgameroom Slightly relatedly and I hope it's okay that I ask you but are there any stores in the UK you'd recommend for game shopping? Especially second hand but also just ones with a good general selection. I'm planning a trip there for this summer (including London and Glasgow at least) and would love to shop while there ^^

No problem! CEX is your best bet for finding 2nd hand games. we only really have GAME for new titles, and they don't sell used games anymore. you'll have better mileage looking for local businesses in the places you decide to visit. There is an independent gaming venue in Glasgow (i forgot its name), i believe london probs has one too. hope you enjoy your visit!

Great video and topic, I understand your points even the environmental one, which I didn't think of it first, but then it clicked and I get that now

I’ve cooled down on retro game collecting. Honestly, ever since I got the Steam Deck OLED, I’ve been putting most of the older games I want on there via emulation. I still collect some retro games (mainly ones hard to emulate), but not as many as I used to.

We all have too many games. For the last while I’ve played the games I own rather than running out to get the latest title. Still buy a game every month but usually just one.

Great video Milla, I can relate to many of the points you raised here. I’ve not bought retro games in over a year now. I’m trying to play through my backlog before buying more.

Really good discussion, Milla. For myself personally, it's both financial reasons and time constraints in why I've been slowing down my game collecting in general, especially with Nintendo Switch. And with Switch 2 around the corner, I need to save money aside for that 😅

The Switch 2 does make sense to save up for, given it'll likely be backwards compatible and have a library of exclusives. Thanks for watching :)

I mostly stopped collecting retrogames around 2016-ish because I felt like I was getting priced out, and now that I've been getting into it more over the last couple years it's been less about games and more about getting Everdrives and Optical Drive emulators, and getting RGB SCART cables for everything so it kinda feels like a different hobby.

Well done Milla raising environmental issues in a gaming context. All that plastic is terrible! Companies just want to keep selling games and use FOMO to compel us to part with our money. Many games go unplayed yet cost the earth! Great take. Much respect.

Great video! I’ve definitely slowed down with the retro game collecting too. I’m happy with what I have on the shelf and I really do enjoy the quality of life features on new releases of old games like increasing speed of battles. I don’t have as much time as I used to so they’re very welcome.

Disagree 💯 with games like dark souls needing an easy mode. One of the appeals of a game like dark souls it refuses to hold your hand. While so many games bend the knee and make the games more assessable that's perfectly fine and all but then there's dark souls which markets itself as an experience and you take the experience as it was designed for. Full transparency I'm terrible at souls games. It is what it is. They don't need to water down their game so I can easily progress.

Going with the "not all games deserve a physical release". Not every person deserves to share their opinion online 👎🏻

Yeah screw that, I'd love to own a physical release of Castle Crashers on Xbox 360 and/or Xbox One - but alas none exists. I care about the environment, but I don't think it should come at the cost of physical releases. There doesn't just have to be one solution to this issue

That train/truck/plane carrying that game you bought is making it's route regardless if your purchase is on it. Amd who are you to decide if someones work deserves a physical release? "Now that i have a giant game collection that ive amassed over years and years of collecting, im going to start acting morally superior to other collectors". What about the environmental impact of your KZitem channel? Have you ever seen the energy use of server farms where these videos are being stored?

Trust me you will regret it later if you still keep being a gamer.. You will find time if you care about something.. A single electric car battery causes more damage to the environment than probably 1 million games being produced
