//Chronicles of Spatial Violence: A Digital Archive Series//
In the wake of the upcoming elections in the US, we find this video pertinent in the historical context of voting rights and why voter education is important. Voting isn't the end game, but it’s the grassroots work of activists like Darian and the other young folks in this video that illustrate why it's critically important to understand the democratic process and its relevance to who gets voted into power from the federal, state, and municipal level. Filmed in 2016 on the eve of the national elections, Darian from Make the Road New York, ”the largest progressive grassroots immigrant-led organization in New York State” trains other young activists in how to canvas neighbourhoods, making sure folks know where to vote. Darian also features as one of the lead characters in “Not in my Neighbourhood.”
