You do what YOU need to do & do what’s best for you and your family. You’re very talented, everything changes and difficult times will pass. I designed the Raven shawl & i’m making it with your purple nebula sock yarn- even if i NEVER get to make another one with your beautiful yarn, i feel EXTREMELY BLESSED just getting the chance to knit this shawl with it. Your yarn gives it grace. You’ve given so much of your heart, incalculable amounts of work, and you’ve made it possible for people to see the beauty and goodness the universe still has.

I've heard how hard it is to get various supplies. Even one supplier closing, which created quite the ripple. Totally understand your no pre sale decision. So sorry to hear of all the health issues. Hoping everything works out & everyone will return to health. Your book sounds very intense and exciting. I love watching your dying videos. You are so very talented.

I think this is a good decision. I wish more indie dyers would make it.

There are probably indie dyers who have managed to stay completely within the time frame they allotted despite all the challenges I outlined. But with Stitches going bankrupt and finding out that credit card processors are not refunding booth fees, but shifting the burden onto the indie dyers to fight as a creditor in bankruptcy court - a change needed to be made. If I extended my time line longer, I'd be endangering my customers ability to get a refund based on PayPal terms of service etc. If I had a catastrophic hospitalization with my long haul Covid, my husband would not be able to create and fulfill in my place nor run my back end for me. It just feels wrong to expect customers to shoulder that burden when the yarn, dye and time to process it is so unstable and unpredictable.

I am onboard with your processes and I think all products have gone up but people do not want to pay too much extra

You're right. I'm ending presales. I've been thinking about it. It's not knee-jerk. I would get anxiety like mad if I couldn't ship.

For me, it takes all the dread and pressure away when a yarn manufacturer is sold out or ships me the wrong base. Or a dye color is reformulated and I can't get the colorway identical. And no looming deadlines fighting with the needs of my very young children.
