You could expand on the idea. You know those "surprise movie nights" in cinemas, where you don't know what movie will play? How about having surprise destinations for your airline? So, if I book a ticket and board the plane, I might end up in Prague or Kairo or Madrid or Timbuktu. Also, for flying back, I have to wait until the next time a flight coincidentialy lands at whatever airport your airline kicked me out.

I'm not so sure... Coronavirus may have caused a lot of countries to impose severe restrictions on air travel. But air traffic isn't really affected. Airlines can still run the planes empty, and so they do because of the bailouts. Corona isn't a disruption to air traffic, it is however a severe reduction in demand for air travel. Only event that was similar to the Eyfjallajökull eruption in the 2000's was the 9/11 attacks where all air traffic going to, from and internally in the US was grounded. COMPLETELY.

I remember watching all the Iceland Air flights coming in, as they were pretty much the only flights coming in at the time, my flatmate and I were sat with a beer in the balcony watching it. While there were operating in and out of Glasgow they were some of the only flights operating, so it was till very quiet around the airport during it

Being from near glasgow i can remember the chaos from the diversion and how GLA was very busy but also in any instance that closes Keflavik airport they will divert to glasgow as it is only like 840 miles away and it's runway isis 757 capable as Glasgow gets the A380

Love your work man, you seem pretty clued up on the subject of aviation but if you ever need any professional information on your videos, I am an airline pilot based in UK that can provide some insight. Keep up the vids.

Scottish guy here. I remember this vividly. We remember our friends to the north and and east of us. I think honestly we are more akin to Scandinavian countries and Iceland than people think lol.

We did the Icelandair hop to Denmark and back... it was interesting... but the lack of free meals (however terrible) on a transatlantic flight (at least the longer one to/from Iceland... they did give us free bottles of mineral water) was kind of annoying because we were forced to shell out for expensive airport food instead. (At least Norwegian air shuttle fed us terrible free food on our next trip to Stockholm.)

You should start a KZitem channel where you talk about planes. You could call it “Wendover Productions”. That’d be cool

We had a 2 week trip to Ireland almost canceled by this. We luckily still got to go on time and the tour company upgraded us to a more expensive tour because so many canceled their trips the original itinerary didn’t happen . Fun times I want that stress back.

I want to know more about Eyjafjallajökull. You should do a video about the unique place that is Eyjafjallajökull.
