Great install, and two video series! It's sure is tough to beat the Battle Born with Victron setup right now, and that Victron CCGX is a thing of beauty! Enjoy your new system, and once again nice install 👍🏼

Hello, thank you for your video. I completely agree with your philosophy and want to migrate from a 35' class to a large truck camper. Currently we are partial to the HOST Yukon, the 1165 is also very nice. That said ... 1. The new ACs seem to start on a 15A without need of a soft start 2. Dometic has a new 8000 BTU 12V (that's right 12V) air conditioner. Would that be enough? On ecomode it draws about 300A ~25A. So, it could run for ~10h with your system. 3. How do you manage your parasitic loads? 4. You should get a set of isolation foot pads for your generator. They can make 15dB of improvement. 5. Eagle Cap now does this Grey color. Can you still order white? Thanks for the video. Travel safe. Henri (RVing with Henri)

How's this setup working out for you after 3 years? Considering the same in my 1165. I'm looking at the new heated BB batteries and keeping them in the stock battery box.

with conventional batteries you only get a 50% discharge rate so you get half the available power... for off grid people lithium makes sense but more sense when the price comes down

I have a Lance 992 with 2x120w solar panels and 2xAGM batteries. I boondock 24/7 for 6 months every year. I am only limited by the fresh water I can carry. Replaced all my bulbs with LED. I watch satellite TV every night or watch DVD. I can even use the microwave for popcorn or nachos. Why in the world would I spend this kind money?? How much power do you need???
@NJRenewableEnergy

If that works for you perfect. Its all a matter of what you needs are. The batteries allow us to run any AC product we have. We hate generators and love the ability to even use air conditioning while on battery power.

what about a alternator upgrade due to the lithium lower resistance and creating a heavy draw on the truck system

my wire is so small you can't get the flow. I wouldn't mind running a larger wire so that I can charger at a higher rate while driving.

Great video! I just bought an Eagle Cap 1165 and am going to install 2-175 watt flexible solar panels with a 40A charge controller. My Eagle Cap came pre-wired but I am struggling to find where the PV wires come in, are they in the access panel behind the TV in the bathroom? Where did you find them?
@NJRenewableEnergy
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, on my 2019. They were in the access panel in the bathroom. Mine were already attached to the existing charge controller. Not sure how they leave them in pre wire.

I came across your video looking for a good image on how the Eagle Cap sits on the truck. Very good video. Do you think Battle Borns are something to use in Canada? We get up to -40C sometimes in the winter. Another question, this camper seems to be back heavy, do you really feel it driving? Does it feel stable enough?
@NJRenewableEnergy

We love our Eagle Cap. Sorry for the delayed response. Yes Battle Borns in canada. We added tork lift stable loads, uppers and lower. Things are basically level. Reluctant to do airbags, but it would improve things slightly. Just drove 9000 miles over 2 months. Truck handles well.

I have this camper on my 2002 Dually Crew Cab 4x4 Silverado. Truck has upper and lower overloads. With the stock wheels & Tires... TERRIBLE. We upgraded to the 19.5" wheels to use G rated tires. That combined with the torq lift stableloads helped tremendously. Feels just fine now. It's been two years and everything is going great. We are in the Washington state and drive over mountain passes all the time.

I saw a video about the lithium batteries not charging below 24F or something like that. Is your install in a heated compartment? I am considering an Eagle Cap 1165 or 1200.
@NJRenewableEnergy

correct. they will discharge at those temps but not charge. Not a problem if you have them in the living space or heated part of the camper. 1165 is better in my opinion.

You're argument for lithium batteries is only an argument for batteries in general. A much cheaper agm battery system while heavier, will allow one to eliminate a generator

Not true. You won't get nearly the same depth of charge, voltage and a whole bunch of other things including rate of recharge. Granted lithium batteries are more expensive, but AGM aren't even in the league.

BB's are not expensive if you look at the whole picture of what you can use, and how you can use them, and how long they last, and with no maintenance. There is more to the story than price.

Lion Energy UT1300's are 10lbs LIGHTER and you can get 4 batteries for the price of 3BB batteries and have a lifetime warranty too. So, BB is kinda over-priced for what you get. --Just saying.
