Funny video, I think I - as a european - have a few things to add to this: The singers of Siberian Meat Grinder are wearing masks, because they're leftists in russia, that had to deal with a shitton of neo nazi violence and government repression (remember, Russia is a country where journalists critical of the government regularly just get shot in some back alley), so they do have a good reason to cover their faces. SMG is basically a side project of the political rapcore band Moscow Death Brigade, and they were guests in Hoya's (Madball) podcast a couple of months back. Wolf Down broke up a couple of years ago, because Larissa (the singer) accused some of the other bandmembers of seuxally assaulting her. She now has an industrial-metal something project, which is pretty interesting from a musical perspective. Since this probably already is the most european comment ever, I'll just shut up now.

As Russian, I'd like to comment on this. Nobody banned left here. War censorship affects mass media like news portals only. Many people of art and journalists do criticize actions taken by the government in their social media. MDB wearing masks because of their style or maybe excessive paranoia. If government would really want to take left down, they would start with someone bigger than underground rapcore band Moscow Death Brigade music is pretty awesome though

As a European I can agree that some of these are actually really wack, just like I've seen so many American bands being equally cringe at this amateur/intermediate level. But if there is a genre where Europeans have always managed to stand out worldwide is Metal. Influential bands like Meshuggah, Rammstein, Opeth, Iron Maden, Gojira, Black Sabbath, etc made it as big as many Americans. There will always be good and bad stuff everywhere at the end of the day. Nasty are hilarious, and I totally agree, one reason why this works is that they are fully aware that what they do is inherently ridiculous and they go all in on it (Nanowar of Steel are another example, terribly european, but so over the top...). Best example is probably the end of the "At war with love" video, the singer spinning the basketball on his finger, menacing stare to the camera, the ball drops to the floor, and he just stands there, finger raised, staring at the camera, doesn't even blink, like nothing happened... 😅 though from what I heard (primarily on this & the punkrock mba channel), it's probably a bit tougher for european bands to pull of this "tough guy" image when neither they nor their audience have any background in that. I don't think I ever met a single aggressive person at a concert. Especially the hardcore/beatdown shows. There is blood, not everyone leaves with the same amount of teeth that they come with, but everybody is happy... I got so confused when I heard you talk about people starting fights at shows on purpose, that is something I'd never ever expect to happen. EDIT: Being German, I think the most European thing to do now is to totally overdo it and make part 2 :D

European hardcore bands are just parodising american bands. That's all! To my fellow Europeans: Just relax if Finn is making fun about us. We are making fun of Americans as well, aren't we? I love that you have not mentioned Austria at all. You would not believe the insane amount of cringe that this tiny country was able to bring into this world up until now and i really mean that. Besides that, the main problem with European bands, as we all just witnessed here for the past 20 minutes, they REALLY WANT TO BE AS COOL AS THEIR U.S.AMERICAN IDOLS! So very few even dare to sing in their native language. And it is somewhat okay when the singer's English is above average but man, when it is not then it is ear bleeding time. Now say that with the heaviest Austrian accent you can and you're getting close. The difference between U.S. and EU bands is so big, sports and art, when i was living in the U.S. for a year in 1990/91 i met some cool people and they would practice every single day after school, just like the athletes, over here, when we started to get serious, in my case with my 2nd band when we were 19, 20 years old, and we would rehearse 2 to 4 times a week, we got the "uhhh, you guys really mean business, hu?" comments from our friends and families..... I have been working as a live sound guy in 2 small venues in Vienna for really interesting, niche, extreme or just off label music, and let me tell you, when there is a bill of one band from the U.S. and a local band opening for them, even if they make basically the same music, just the attitude is miles apart, like the Austrian band would almost be asking if it would be okay, if they were to play one more song, you know? That would never, ever happen with a band from the USA. Having said all that, there are some incredible musicians here and all over Europe obviously, but due to the lacking support system, which for sure got better thanks to the internet over the past 2 decades, but still, it is just not the same and you have to be so lucky to get some publicity when you are not trodding along in the same old boring major label garbage cringe crap they can put out to the drunk masses and rake in the cash, small labels are usually "you have to pay for the record yourself"....and i am now getting off track and this is way too long already..... you said to not send you good European music, so i won't, but i sure would like to see you make a video with some real bands, musicians instead of this copycat garbage but thanks for the laughs, i nearly lost it at "Stinky", haha...."'ello...vee arree Stinky, frommm Toulouse and WE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE!" yeahhhhhhhh!!!!

@@torstenscholz6243 I am a musician and live sound guy myself, so i am quite aware of what Austria has to offer to the world of music and there are some brilliant musicians and bands here, i also know the guys in Ja, Panik. Another awesome band is Radian for instance, myself of course.... ˘J˘ And yes, Falco and probably Georg Danzer in his formative years, Ludwig Hirsch, but those are a handful of individuals, compared to other countries, we have so much cringe and truly awful music here, a large majority just trying to be like some of their musical heroes, without any identity what so ever. Just copying what is already out there and top it of with a singer who is not fluent in the English language.... and the attitude on stage...the difference between a band from the states and from Austria, it is so vast, so immense, even going so far as the Austrian band would ask if it's okay, if they were to play one more song, i have done hundreds and hundreds of concerts, but i never once heard that from a band from the U.S. Although things have gotten better here through the internet, pre internet it was so hard to even get a good gig here, no infrastructure at all for small bands, nothing, so now that all that has changed, more and more bands get a chance to even get an audience, all this of course plays a huge part in this dilemma.

The Pott in Pottboiz actually refers to the Ruhrpott (short Pott) an area of severeal cities that are border to border (like Essen, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen), which used to be a big part in mining coal. So no weed for anyone there. Never heard of most of these bands though lol and I'm not mad at Finn showing "us" the mirror. Oi! is way to relevant in europe (germany). i always hated this but everyone seemed to love it.

The concept and the music itself is pure power. I´ve known their music since, I don't know... 2014 or so, and it was love at first sight. Actually ROTNS is one of those bands that I'm always looking forward waiting for new music. Europeans have pretty good bands. When I was 11 or so I used to write lyrics in English and show them to my cousin who had just spent 3 years in the US. He'd spend minutes trying to make them grammatically correct, and even then, they'd still sound trash. The thing is, European English, even when proper, sounds very wordy, EU documents tend to be much harder to read than official documents from English-speaking countries.

As a Dutch guy I have to say we have some kick ass metal bands here as well, some very influential in the Death Metal scene. And for Techno our country next to the USA in the early days of House are also the pioneers in the genre. It got aggressive and more aggressive, eventually it became Hardcore Techno (around 1992/93) but the scene called it Gabber, it was a lifestyle in the early to mid 90's eventually died out in the late 90's. Especially the early days of our Gabber culture was the most extreme and could be in the same boat as Metal in aggressiveness. Atari Teenage Riot would be a good example if both genres are combined.

It's interesting that you mentioned Toulouse, because I lived in this town at the end of the 90s and there was a local radio station named "Radio Mon Païs" that had a program every week about hardcore and skacore, which made me discover tons of bands (No Use For a Name, Satanic Surfers, Bad Religion, Skankin' Pickle, Mu330, Reel Big Fish,...), never played on national radio stations in France. At that time, a good hardcore/surf-punk band from Toulouse was Greedy-Guts (two guys and a girl playing a bit in the style of the aussie band The Hard-Ons).

I think it's weird here because we get bombarded with US culture all the time so a lot of what we do seems like a rip-off of American stuff because it sort-of is, but not in a "we're deliberately copying this" kinda way, but more in a white people in California adopting some Mexican cultural stuff or people in the mid-West using LA slang from TV shows they've grown up with... it just kinda osmoses into our culture, but then gets blended in with our own stuff so it drops into this uncanny valley of generic "American-ness", which must just look wonky AF to an American. It's why we end up with the blend of random different geographical scenes all mashed up together - some dude watches The Wire and Saved By The Bell and it's all just "American". It's jarring to me, because in the UK we have a blend of US / European stuff going on and I'm completely used to it, but when I see the French version of that blend I'm like "That's so French and cheesy", and I'm the same with every other European country. It just looks wrong, but the UK stuff doesn't. It's jarring to see an American lump it all together and defining it as "so Euro and cheesy", but realistically I completely understand. I think European music is at it's best when it more or less completely ignores the most overtly "American" influences - not because those influences are bad but because even though they're so prevalent in our culture here, it will always come off looking like cosplay. Edit: British people just smoke and are sarcastic fucking creased me right up. ACCURATE.

No Italian in the disclaimer. I'll gaslight myself with the thought that we are excluded for good reasons and not because we don't have any relevance in the whole metal music industry Btw. I feel like there's no scene with more cosplay-bands than the European one and that's because every "alt sub-culture" related to rock and metal in the last 20 years has been imported either from UK or USA through the internet and few scenes started from real communities sharing values and real life stuff, they mostly came from wannabes and it's hard to create something you can share with an audience if the focus it's largely feeding your ego

making fun of other continents/countries is just so weird to me, to me it really doesn't mean jack shit where you're from, i mean its not like you did something for it , its just fucking random where you're from. this is the same reason patriotism is so fucking weak to me. being proud of something you didn't do jack shit for is just weak man i don't know. with that being said the video is fucking hilarious, have a nice weekend finn!!!!

You are a very confused person. To say there is no point in patriotism and being proud/supportive/spreading your culture, history etc. means you have no connection to anything. Sure, you yourself have contributed nothing to what was up to the point when you came to be. But now it is your turn to pick up the torch and continue. If the ones who came before you (and formed the country you were born in, the language etc. were thinking like you do, there won't be any country/language/historical identity or continuity. Cos we would all be like, f it, what's the point, I could be just some random person from a random place speaking a random language. Maybe I could've put it better, but I hope you get where I am coming from. Don't want to attack you, you are free to think and feel however you want to, but this is what I find flawed about your statement. And on a more personal level, what if you applied the same thinking to your parents and family. Sure, it's true that nobody chose who they were born to (just like nobody chose in which country or culture), but surely you are not gonna think of your parents as just some random people who you happened to have been born to. Or at least I hope you aren't.
