“this film is not yet rated” is something on all movies before release date. Having periods shouldn’t be a controversial topic; almost every girl goes through one. showing it through tv movies or shows is kinda a great way to let little kids know it’s nothing to be ashamed about, because many of them are embarrassed.

The emotions being a mix of boys and girls could just be because most people have a mix of feminine and masculine traits. While some (like the mom and dad) are mostly just masculine, or just feminine. Or, the mom and dad only had one gender of emotions each for the moms vs dad's gag. A group of moms vs a group of dads.

It's just feelings, a part of the phase of growing and maturing rather than saying turning trans or whatsover. Turning red also had a big scene about periods... I think it's great more kids movies are touching on this subject, some kids as young as 10 or even under can get them and it's a perfectly natural process, not something to be ashamed about. Society not talking about it only teaches kids that periods are gross and, by proxy, their own body is gross. Considering periods are already hard enough (bloating, cramps, mood swings, cravings, body aches, etc) especially when discovering them for the first time when you're already in a really hectic time of your life and just entering puberty, seeing kids your age talk about them on movies, validate your fears and make you realize it's normal and not something to be ashamed of is awesome.

For real! It’s so sad how it comes to a huge shock to people that it gets brung up in a movie, it shouldn’t be so shocking. It’s only good if people learn about periods, no matter which gender. Because people have to stop alienating periods.
@claymationgloves3662
6 ай бұрын
I understand all of that but if I'm being completely honest this is some stuff parents are supposed to talk to their kids about themselves. Not a giant red panda shaking her ass at her mom. I think that should be enough to tell you the real reasons why people don't like the movie. And it's because it can be described as one thing. (Hint: it's a commonly used word on the internet to describe things that are physically repulsi-) yeah it's cringe. Even for a movie about teenagers. 😐 I don't care about the periods but the characters and the things they did were so god awful that I left that stuff 33 minutes in. Given the memes I've seen of the ending the rest of it did turn out about as awful as I expected. This is less of an issue about the fact that they're talking about periods and more of just an actual opinion on the movie. (Or at least most of the time it is when you see people crapping on turning red.)

I mean yeah they're obviously some things that you keep to yourself, I'm not exactly going to walk around telling people that I finally started growing pubes except for my parents, so I would think it would be common sense that teenage girls don't tell random people that they started bleeding from their vagina except for their parents. But other than that I'm pretty sure everybody knows it as a common thing at this point.

Honestly I hope they do touch on the topic of menstruation. It’s a normal function and shouldn’t be shushed just cause it’s “disgusting” or “inappropriate” it’s not inappropriate. And stating it as such just makes young girls feel ashamed or embarrassed of having their periods. Plus if the movie dives into puberty, then it would be weird if they didn’t mention periods since it’s like the first thing people think of when it comes to female puberty lol
@jerrylepoppin

I find it so sad that many women feel disgusted about one of their normal body functions, because they've been taught for most of their lives that it's gross. And it's not helped that men, who have little personal experience, have the whole process hidden from them so that when it does come up they will inevitably find it weird and uncomfortable. It's a never ending cycle of shame for something that's really very mundane.

As an adult with 4 kids... I actually like this theory. Most of my emotions since being a parent have been mostly my own parents. After about 10 years, only just starting to become my own person. Definitely without self awareness or deep reflection, it Definitely conditioning. My reactions were a mix of hormones and hidden in my subconscious, my parents emotions. Now, I do what my parents never did for me and I respect them, grateful for them... but communication and emotional support have made our household quiet peaceful and non toxic.

“LGBTQ+ gets so much attention these days! Can’t we just have a normal movie😡!” I’m sorry what😭? Let me guess, you guys who say this want ALL movie sequels to stay the EXACT same as the original cuz otherwise it will “ruin the movie”. You do realise that people can change. And lgbtq+ people have fought for centuries. Having a gender neutral character, especially a main character is honestly amazing! Seeing that there’s a chance that bigger movies aren’t scared of showing lgbtq+ anymore is a big thing!

I don't think Riley has mixed Gender or is Gender neutral, having a neutral name with neutral emotions doesn't mean your gender neutral, since this is a kids movie, it was trying to simplify the emotions that we all go through and of course we feel more, but this would make sense if they didn't want to make this movie too complicated, and I think that by the emotions combining at the end of the film sort of explains how the basics of emotions work. Her parents' emotions, being male and female in contrast to Riley's emotions, is probably to differentiate them from Riley's emotions. (Please don't hate on me. This hasn't been confirmed yet, so it's what I think)
@Kaczyfunny
6 ай бұрын
This is the only explanation i can accept. Too many creep are in the comment section speaking about the 11 yo sexuality. We dont have to put kids in boxes,/ stereotypes. The can decide themselfs what they like and enjoy. Seriously, this "non binary" trend sounds like a kind of new sexism.
@Arig16
6 ай бұрын
@Kaczyfunny agreed, we should just wait for confirmation rather than looking too hard into things. This is a kids' movie trying to explain emotions, not a kids' movie trying to explain what gender this child is.

Not healthy at all,I also have adhd and don’t take medicines,it’s difficult and I EXTREMELY relate to this one emotion. 6:49 I think it’s ok but if child movies start talking about this,movies might have more probabilities of not being for all ages,having a period is nothing to be ashamed of and I’m 10.
