If anyone needs proof that audio is a limitless pursuit, here it is in full color. We can be reasonably happy with our gear, but there is always that little voice that asks, "What else is out there?"

I was pretty obsessed with audio for a number of years. I am kind of at the point were I have other things to fill up my time. I think what drives the obsession is the quest for that "perfect" sound and yes music is an emotional hook. Now I just want to forget the equipment and just listen to music.

Yes audio obsession can maybe get out of control if you have that kind of personality But on the flip side I was listening to old school country & western songs from the 60's & 70's that l grew up with because of my parents, but never really paid that much attention, primarily because of the musical source at the time But listening to those old CW songs on my stereo rig was a whole new experience and made me so glad I have a stereo rig that made those old CW songs so enjoyable and so impressed on how well recorded some of they were recorded

Looks like you haven't delved down the rabbit hole of room treatments yet. There's another half year of diversion for you, LOL. All kidding aside, I'm with you on it turning into a passionless hobby. It's more of a technical pursuit at this point. But if it isn't audio, it will be something else that my mind's hamster wheel will spin for.

no issue with sound here.No one unless being here can judge the sound nor the actual room kayout and size.I got lucky as I would of never even built a system if acoustics were a problem . Rabbit hole though is real as you say will just come from another angle. No escape. But audio pursuit so to speak is not an issue in my life been there for done it.If you watch the theme of my channel its what I promote just let go and enjoy. No perfect system exists quit spinning the wheels there will always be a flaw the brain picks out .I have other things I focus on.This channel is just to try and help share what I have been through and maybe some will relate

Dude, you are describing exactly where I’m at right now. In 30 years of this madness, I’m in another rough spell. I’m buying cables for stuff I haven’t even bought yet. I’m buying multiple DACs AT THE SAME TIME. I’m buying stuff before my old stuff sells. Also, I’m doing all this for two different systems...my headphone system and my loudspeaker system. Ugh. I’m really disappointing myself.

Age has a way of organically ending or diminishing our attachment to the non essential stuff we have in our lives. Focus not on what one is getting rid off but instead what one gains, inner freedom.

I have had the same obsession since the 80's, just this year I've changed all my gear. At one point I had 14 turntables before thinking "why?" Pretty much the same with other hobbies too. I feel your pain, take care.

from my experience I found that I get to wound up in the material world and forget about the music itself. Been down that road to many times. We have to many choices now a days and looking for something better. I started my journey in 1972 in audio with an 8track and Lp system. All this is temporary, so what is going to take it's place in 10 or 20 years?😊

its a good question.Doing this type of content here has helped focus on others than self.Audio can be selfish, self centered and all consuming

It's hard to stop when you haven't reached your goal, and I submit that most haven't because they are going down the wrong road to achieve audio piece. Just stop buying new gear and instead learn about and do up your room with proper acoustics, when you manage that and the system then sounds way way way better than without the acoustics then finish it off by dialing in the maximum musicality, once your system has max musicality it is easy to forget about the gear and just dig the music. IMHO. For me tuning the system with materials and parts on hand is way more fun than buying a 5k$ hunk of gear and then being disappointed until you replace it with another more expensive piece, involvement in the purchase then endless disappointment in the performance. Cheers.

I do not trouble myself with any of it.If someones acoustics are so bad best address it.Im content with speaker topologies working in my room and it sounds very very good with no tretment.Would never even of built a system at all if my room was bad too start. Can it be better sure everything can be but in the end I just know its just a stereo and that is all is.I am here to give back what I have learned over 3 decades right down to the pain to how to buy right. It has got me out of self and thats a freedom.Im grateful for my channel

If you keep playing with cheap audio gear in the $300-$1500 junk you will never get out of the loop. Spend some real money on real hifi gear and you will find you end game gear.

I agree with that but I do not know if you were referring too me as I play in a much higher price bracket and not that I have anything to prove haha my components are very costly for most people my friend .I guess you are a bit misinformed as to what I own.Maybe watch a few more videos. You will see the reference systems. What is your “real”hifi gear? not that it is a comparison
