Not really surprising, I was in Michael's last week and they had already clearanced their summer merchandise. They had empty shelves and open boxes of Halloween decor ready to be put up. It was the black gothy looking stuff they had last year. At this rate they'll have Christmas stuff out in August, right alongside the full Halloween selection.

I went to Joann's the other day - there were FIVE aisles of brand new Halloween junk. I thought it was on clearance, but no. I assumed it was crap "hiding" in the stock room that they didn't get or get out last fall. They recently let their Inventory Control manager go, I thought because of this. No. They just got rid of every full time person, except for the store manager.

Imagine how frustrating it is to bust your butt putting all that out knowing what customers really want is quality fabric and supplies. It was frustrating. We only have one or perhaps two full time employees at our store. Everyone else's hours are being cut drastically.

I’m not a Halloween person. I just want nice fabric or craft supplies at a great price.

I went there last week to purchase summer decor. No current season. They were setting up for Halloween in June. I'm not storing items for 3 months to prepare for a holiday.

I complained about occult stuff in the stores. Hobby Lobby sells none of it, I shop for fabric there now.

How about good quality garment fabric? It’s nearly impossible to find!

All I want is some reasonably priced or discount cotton/spandex jersey in a variety of colors and maybe some fun prints. Bamboo/spandex would be cool too. Oh no, really I need overpriced skeletons that are going to spend most of the year filling up my closet.

They had weird skeletons last year too. Their problem is that they can’t decide who their market is.

I just bought the 8 foot one for $180. It was worth it.

I've noticed the occult creeping into all aspects of crafts at JAF for awhile now, fabrics and an entire wall of deco occult items since the first of this year, not Halloween related. I complained to the stores manager about the pidley Fourth of July aisle, it was pathetic really. Many stores have jumped on the occult theme, so maybe it is a fad? I don't know who their target audience is, definitely not representing me anymore. Thanks for bringing this topic up, as Halloween wares have taken over my Phoenix, Az store .

I saw witchcraft books in the stores. Teens think it us harmless, like ouigi boards and such. 5 Below has occult books too. The skeletons are creepy, goats especially. I see more and more people using these things on halloween. Pure witchcraft and most have no clue. Joann knows what they are doing.

I stocked the halloween stuff a few weeks ago. I was talking to a co-worker who has been at Joanns 20+ years. I was all, "What the heck? Why are they selling this stuff?" She said the 8 foot skeletons FLY off the shelves. They sell it because it sells like hotcakes. Huh. Who knew? We have received over 2000 boxes of halloween stuff. Let me mentally count how many aisles: Six. Six aisles of it. In June.

I would really rather not buy from stores thats sell occult items mermaids skeletons goats etc.. I don't need that in my life. I wish more fabric would be better quality and less filled with weird symbols. Figure out your sewing base like in hot areas sell more linens and light weight fabric for apparel thats natural fiber.
I would never have anything shipped to me from JoAnns they threw mugs in a box with no packing material and they arrived broken. After they refused to cancel the order i placed in error(wanted Cricut brand) accidentally ordered their off brand. And took 3 weeks to ship the order.

Actually, they are not in bankruptcy. They were bought and the new owners negotiated the debt. Now they are owned by someone else. It's the new owners doing this...

@@jilbertb I bet that's a pain. As a regular customer all I care about is the line at the cutting table. My local JoAnns is just awesome. I love everyone that works there and I hope these changes aren't awful for you all.
