I regularly gig with it since 2 years: in pubs and small venues it can easily go without the PA, and I've used in big venues or outside venues sending it to the PA and just using it as my reference cab, and it works pretty well. the real top characteristic is that it's small and weights nothing, so I can put it on my motorbike or on public transportation here in Rome (Italy), without moving my car.

I bought the 40 based mostly on Josh’s Bass Buzz video and recommendation, and I’ve been very satisfied with its overall performance and frankly quite impressed with its power. I’ve rehearsed at high volume with two different bands - full drums, electric guitar(s), keys, and multi vocals - and although it’s sometimes having to be cranked to about 75% gain and master vol., it *does* produce enough volume to be heard and still sounds good. The tone is very nice and quite versatile. Personally, I like to run the vintage and bright buttons simultaneously; it gives you a full bodied low end with a touch of added clarity. For live applications, I set the 40 on top of a borrowed Rumble 200 combo for a nice little mini stack 😂 How, you ask? By splitting my signal as it comes out of my Boss looper pedal! (I don’t use the looper live; it’s on my board for messing around at home with guitar and bass. Like I think all Boss pedals, it’s stereo/dual mono out, so “free splitter” 😂) Anyway… Eventually, I aim to get my own 200, or 500, or maybe even an 800 (the new one with the 210 neo speakers). But I’ll probably never get rid of my little 40.

Hey wanted to put my own personal experience with rumble amps here. I play for a R&B band for my HS. I bring my own bass but i use the schools amp. They have an older model fender rumble 75 and a fender rumble 100. And lemme tell you that fender rumble 100 is soooo gooooood. The fact its actually smaller and lighter and LOUDER than the 75 is so useful especially when you are having to lug it around by hand around the school. And i actually use the OD circuit occasionally for songs that have a more fuzzy tone. Id say that if you're doing small gigs the 100 is more than enough. Definitely going to invest in a 500 when i get out of HS! 😌😌

I just bought one of these for playing/recording at home, and low key rehearsal or open mic sessions. It works great in all those settings, even when there's a drummer this amp keeps up fine (as long as the drummer isn't playing too hard!). I never use the overdrive as I prefer it clean, and to get the sound I like I have all the eq flat and the vintage switch on. After that any major tweaks can be done from the bass, a Bass Centre Betsy which is a 64 jazz replica with active EMG's. Love the feel of this bass and it couple's perfectly with the amp which is wonderfully lightweight for getting to other places.

The Rumble 40 was my favorite home amp for several years... 'till I overstressed the speaker, likely with my Stingray (it was getting farty/fuzzy). Replaced it with a Rumble 100 which has served my home well for the last few years. When used lightly, the "Overdrive" section sounds good to my ears... but less so as the knob continues clockwise. Thinking of auditioning the Ampeg Rocket 200 (15" speaker version) as a replacement soon...

I completely agree about the vintage on and dialing back the bass knob. I practice with this and often find it enough meeting up with a group to jam with in a room. When I play out I stack it on my R100 and find them generally sufficient for bars. Soundmen often don't bother PAing me.

I dont understand why would you DEMO an amp with ONLY the DI. I know your excuse, because you said why you did it. But just using the DI is not the full picture . Why not just use a DI and EQ pedal? An amps equation has a speaker as part of that equation.. This video does NOT give us the info we need to know what the "AMP" sounds like in real life. We only hear a DI and not the whole picture.

Whenever I start to hear a demo on KZitem with a cheap ass little microphone or smartphone recording it, I don't waste my time. There is no good reason to use a microphone for these sorts of demos unless you are using a high-end $1000 plus dollar studio mic placed by a competent audio engineer. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. It's going to sound like crap and not give a good idea of what the amp actually sounds like. There are way too many demos of bass amps here that sound like the speaker is broken and the sound is only coming out of the tweeter... all because someone thought it was a good idea to use a cheap mic placed in a stupid spot, or worse yet, recorded on a smartphone. And ultimately that gives a very bad impression for what may well have been a very good amp. I've heard demos here of high dollar boutique amps, which are obviously top notch, that sound like they were practice amps from 1975 with a two inch speaker built by a teenager in daddy's garage out of old radio and TV parts.

That amp is garbage. Luckily, I have an electronics pro friend with the proper equipment to fix the unintended shut off feature Fender failed to mention. Any great bass guitar work Fender is known for is wiped out if their amps are cheaply made. Go with a company that SPECIALIZES in amps. Marshall, Ampeg, etc. If the company specializes in a different product, then tries to take a piece of the $$$ from another market; DO NOT FALL FOR THAT BULLJIVE! The low price and temporarily loud, good sound, effects, and low weight is to ENTICE newbee suckers looking to save cash! That's all. 🤔
