Brilliant that mate. He's an artist, a painter, and that's how he plays. Maybe that's why his playing has such longevity and we still sit in awe of it. Its colours, shade, texture and brush strokes, not notes and chords.

@DaveyH when I hear people speak negatively about the stone roses it really makes me feel quite unhappy. The music just screams originality. I was a only 10 years old when their debut was released. It wasn't until about 1993 that I found a cassette tape in a kitchen drawer in me mam's kitchen. It wasn't an album just a single. I have a feeling that what the world is waiting for was a bside. I could be mistaken though. I new they were going to be good from the art work. After my freinds dad let us go through his 💿 CD collection I found a world of unexplored music, from the Jam, b'52s talking heads and johnny thunders heartbreakers the clash the smith's. I was hooked x

My favorite guitarists are the ones who blend rhythm and lead playing. Their stuff is just so fun to play. Ian D'Sa from Billy Talent is another player who is the sole guitarist for his band and he blends these two roles so well.

I have always like the Roses. My favorite guitar player is Gary Moore. It wasn't until recently that John's playing really caught my ear, and I began to appreciate his chord structuring and playing. He doesn't just shred his way through a song, and I quite like that. Now I am hooked forever and am a super fan. Johnny Marr, Steve Jones and Mick Ronson are some of my other favorite Brit guitarists.

Thanks Tom, much appreciated. I know, you are 100% correct. But, he also plays this song without a capo in standard tuning in the majority of the live shows that you can watch online. But either way it doesn’t matter as this wasn’t a tutorial on how to play this song. It is simply an ode to a master and an appreciation of his guitar playing.
