Why do your raw vintage cards sell for 3-4x other eBay sellers?

Kids didn't look for rookie cards back in the 60's. In fact, it was a bit of a bummer when you got one! No one "bet" on rookies. They didn't think of rookies as "hidden gems". More accurately, they were tolerated.

Gannon, I just happened to be checking out this video and saw your epic comment here! I hope I didn't scare you away from my channel with some of my obtuse humor! Please understand that I truly do not mind being corrected on pronunciations! However, I plan to do a much better job of getting it right the first time! I hope things are going well for you and your family! 😊

@@vintagesanctuary Oh hey Adam! You know, I guess I gave you a little space there. I knew you were just kidding around though. No worries. Also with the channels I follow, I don't always comment on every video. Only if I feel I really have something to say, which often can just be "Nice card!" This channel here is great. I just felt they were indulging in a little bit of revisionist history regarding what kids were looking for in baseball cards and rookies back inthe 60's. See you over in The Sanctuary!

I paid over $200 for a lower grade copy of this card. As a big Uecker fan, it’s a little frustrating that being a high number makes the card that much more expensive, but I had to have it. Uecker is a legend in Milwaukee!

In the upper right hand corner is Ken Retzer, of the old Senators. He was from the same small town in Southern Illinois, Wood River, where my mother was born. He gained national attention when he was catcher for the Senators on opening day in 1963 in Washington. At one time, the US President would show up and throw out the first baseball to open the season. In 1963, obviously it was JFK. Retzer caught the ball, and then Kennedy autographed the ball after the game. Pictures of Kennedy and Retzer made Nation wide coverage the next day. Retzer kept the ball in a safety deposit box for decades, until the early 2000s when he was older and he wanted the ball displayed in his home. Sure enough, the ball disappeared one day. The local police department (while very dedicated and good) were way in over their heads for something that was that valuable. The ball was never found, but one day it may show up. Ken Retzer passed away in a home in Arizona in 2020. I still have locals that want me to get them his RC to this day, but I explain to them go get his 64 common. Thanks...

Picked up a low grade one last year for $80 at a local show. HAD to have it. LOVED him in Major League, the Miller Lite commercials too. This card is a perfect storm. Legendary commentator, high number and a rookie. I've seen over 30 of these at shows, and all are beat up cards :(

I used to cut the 2-players rookies in half and even the 3 player ones. It used to be hard too find loose change on the ground. A quarter would buy you 5 packs. It was like striking gold 🥇 🥇

As a Reds collector, I needed this card for Don Pavletich. It's not even his rookie card, he had his own in 1959.

I hate when that happens. I’m a Tigers collector. Two Tigers are on Gary Carter’s rookie card and one on Keith Hernandez’s. Granted, those cards aren’t as expensive as the Uecker, but it’s still annoying to pay a premium for a no-name player. When I get to 1964, I have Kaline and Cash on a four-player card with Mantle and Maris to deal with.
