Just to add for the interested readers. Genocide is defined by the United Nations in Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948) as "ANY of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

The US Constitution was written for a society without politicians. American historians like Gordon Wood stress how different the world was in the 1780s and 1790s when the USA was formulating its first idea of itself. George Washington imagined a world of institutions rather than politicians. He warned against political parties. But by 1800 that world of the US Constitution was clearly giving way to political parties and political democracy. The US Constitution is a document from the 1780s. America has always managed to reform without sacrificing the Constitution, but we've come to a point where the world has changed so much, a Constitution from the 1780s is no longer able to govern public life.

Doesn't believe Australia is a racist country - but perhaps not to him. A country that denied an indigenous voice to Parliament in its most recent referendum; a country that to this day, denies the genocide within its own history. Indigenous people were sport to the White Australians of past, and most indigenous peoples are still marginalised today and fair no better. And now, he thinks he can step in and offer an opinion on Palestine? Not impressed. The only thing good that came out of this was some people got an audience with Prof. John Mearsheimer.

Not unrealistic. The 'Israeli' (replace with religion) claimed that they are always hated in Europe because they are second class citizens without their own country. The argument was that if they had their own country, Europeans won't hate them. Three candidates were chosen : South Africa, Argentina (or Peru?) and Palestine. The British occupied Palestine at that time and 'gave' 'Israeli' people the land without permission of the Palestinians. USA was created the same way, but the Christians decimated the native people, so they cannot fight back. Palestinians could not be decimated ('Israeli' people tried, several times). So the war continues. Israeli people should seriously consider moving to Ukraine or Germany. These countries used to hate 'Israel' people the most, but now they have switched. So they would make excellent homes. Of course, history could repeat, Germans might again switch back to their original attitude. Australia won't work because 'White Christians' of Australia are unlikely to welcome 'Israeli' people.

Israel, has been trying to get rid of the Palestinian people since they had set foot on Palestinian land and they still haven't been able to deal with that problem in their eyes, the Palestinian people are still there and have a bigger population than Israel only by a small margin.

I used to appreciate Hollywood movies a lot coz I thought they were the heroes and they, the Americans, represent the true value of the greater good. But not anymore, now I would keep asking myself, is it true? Too many hypocrites from the US makes me critical and skeptical of I was watching.

For uk it seems there is a real nostalga for ww2- when they still had a functioning society, economic base and military. Very little contemporaneous based stories these days ...

The prof didn't have enough time to go further back in history. Some quick points: Jews have lived in Palestine for a long time, but Zionists are European and Eastern European who have no ancestral ties to Palestine. Zionists do not care about Christians, Muslims, or even Jews. Jews do not support a "state" for themselves (according to their religious beliefs), but Zionists do. Jews, Christians and Muslims have lived together (peacefully) in Palestine for a long time. The biggest threat to Jews are Zionists (Jewish and Christian Zionists). Jews in America and Israel who are anti-apartheid, anti-genocide and pro-peace are not given air-time to share their views.

How is it not apartheid when some roads in Israel are only open to Jews and not Arabs? Isn't that the definition of apartheid right there?

Prof. Mearsheimer should consider what would happen if there was no Oct. 7th and no IDF invasion. The Saudis would have recognized Israel, the US would give the Saudis a nuclear reactor with capability to build nuclear weapons in return for recognizing Israel. What would Iran do in such a situation? What would the powers behind Iran do? What is happening in Gaza is horrible, but nuclear proliferation in the Middle East could be even worse.

Professor John Mersheimer might be correct. Because I read in a book by Nietzsche (Human all too human) that there are no altruistic actions, that humans are naturally egocentric and that even love and helping others is really caused and moved by egocentric objectives. People should realize that
