Women only make up less than 10% of the national construction workforce.
Reporter Kathryn Brenzel interviewed dozens of women who work on both construction sites and as executives at some of the city’s largest construction management firms to get an idea of why the lack of diversity persists, what challenges women working in the industry endure, and how management firms can help create a more inclusive environment.
Special thanks to Kim Neuscheler at Turner Construction for the construction tour at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care.
