People forget how insanely over Cena was leading up to his first US Title win. He’d sometimes get louder pops than the people working in the main events. The crowd would always pop because they knew they were going to be able to join in on Cena’s promo and be able to roast the heel lol.

I remember. I was with him right until he beat HBK at Wrestlemania 23. That’s when it sunk in that he was going to be another Hulk Hogan who always had the belt. The whole Super Cena thing got boring really fast. Smackdown became way more interesting until the Nexus came along and made Raw exciting again. I didn’t start liking him again until he won the U.S. title and started doing the open challenge every week.

@@jmosworld332 as far as I know he admitted the Nexus SS match was wrong. I haven't heard him mention anything else about how he treated rookies though. Not just the story from FPJ, the way he treated Alex Riley while he was on the main roster. The issues with Michael Tarver. Or even the weird shit he does with The Miz. Everyone talks about this dude like he's a saint, I just get tired of seeing that when there's more than enough evidence showing he's like the wrestlers who have their share of bullying stories and are rightfully called out on it. Being well spoken and having good PR shouldn't exclude him from being criticized.

Smart man. The audience buys the tickets and comes to see the fights, so why not have connections with them? It's good for everybody involved. This guy has figured out what a lot of big name companies fail to recognize (looking at you, Anheuser-Busch!). If you give the people what they want, they will give YOU what you want.

This isn't just about the rapper gimmick. I saw Cena rehearsing his lines backstage before getting totally into character even having some backstage help be the person he was talking to so he could get some "feed back" by bouncing off of them. It was pretty cool to witness the behind the scenes stuff like that when working at the stadium WWE went to.

Wrong, it was because he was booked as Super Cena! Literally defeating the Nexus on his own, not putting them & other rising talent over like CM Punk. The same thing gets tiresome, even Hogan had to reinvent himself.

Yep, but he can believe what he wants. To actually think they disliked him due to how how came up with his promos is astounding. Dude was overpushed to the point that when he left there was nobody there to take up his place. They tried for years with reigns and only now actually did something notable with him, still was years too late. Lol.

@@DarkCloud3000 You can believe what you want. No wrestler gets into the business with the idea in mind they want to be misused or not even used. Just go look at the main event scene back when he was a full timer, he was overbooked and overused everywhere. That would garner resentment/hatred, not how/where you work on your promos.

For me as a wrestling fan for 33 years. your wrestling ability doesn't mean nothing if you can't involved yourself in the crowd. See the real OG's like hulk Hogan for example how many wrestling moves did hulk Hogan has? Man you can count on your fingers how many of them. But the fans love the hulkters because the way he connects with the fans and entertain them. For me that's the most important thing you do when you enter into the wrestling entertainment industry. Weather if your a good guy or bad if you know how to entertain them they love you the fans loves you.
