That's what I'm saying. People say that because Ronaldo's physique makes him look like he is working much harder than Messi but nobody is born knowing how to play football. Messi still had to work extremely hard but in a different way without relying on his physique that's all. Still takes time, dedication and effort to become the best. Really annoying when people say that as it takes all credit away from the greats that do work hard behind the scenes.

Talent is great, but you have to work for it. It’s also the same case for Ronaldo, he had talent to be noticed by top clubs, but he also put in immense effort to sustain his talents long term. Keep this in mind: Talent gets you in, but Hard Works makes you stay there or something like that.

@TrevorPhillips- I can't name 10, but Bojan Krkic was thought to be as talented as Messi as a young player, and broke his goalscoring records in the Barca youth and Barca B teams. However, he struggled with depression and didn't reach his full potential in the men's game. He's still got an incredible highlights reel though.

Some people don’t understand that talent without hard work means nothing, just because you don’t see Messi training doesn’t mean he doesn’t train, if you go back and check those other players that were once considered the “next Messi” because of their talents look where they are now, not on the level they should have been at because they didn’t put in the work, so again talent without work doesn’t get you anywhere

The point is that Messi doesn’t need to train hard because he’s got a natural talent that just comes through. Like John Daly, or Jon Jones or Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders. I’m sure he trains hard but he’s no CR7 or Kobe Bryant or Lebron. Those guys have a ton of talent but had to work extremely hard to fashion it into a weapon, Messi and curry not so much.

People failing to understand what KP means here, obviously messi worked insanely hard but like steph, Messi is freakish in an way we almost never seen before, 3pts and dribbling. Ronaldo and LeBron worked just as hard but made themselves well rounded in all assets of the game and mentality.
@sebfox2194

Messi isn't just good at dribbling though, he has a better goals per game and assists per game ratio than Ronaldo, and makes way more passes. So not only is he a similar level goalscorer to Ronaldo, but he's also a better passer, better playmaker, and has better vision to pick out teammates for assists. He's also good at free kicks. Moreover, he's won the most trophies out of any player in football. People talking about Ronaldo being more well rounded ignore the fact that Ronaldo is primarily a goalscorer and finisher, but he doesn't have the dribbling, passing, vision, playmaking, and assists that Messi does. So, wouldn't that make Ronaldo less well rounded rather more so? Ronaldo = goals. Messi = goals, assists, dribbling, passing, vision, and playmaking.

Yes, both of them do work hard. And I think Steph’s a bad comparison if you know his history and the work he put in. But Messi is a guy who used to vomit in games because he was chugging in junk foods, soda and fizzy drinks etc. He does put in work like all athletes but most of his magic, he was born with it. He could probably not even train, just basic fitness and still dominate. While Ronaldo has to put in 3-4 times more hours to catch up to him. It’s as close as we can come to God vs Man.
