Kim Wood, executive director of the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, discusses the different reasons there is an increase in homelessness among seniors.
I’ve got a feeling that the younger generations of people will be living in the same position as these homeless elderly people!

Things do not look so good for us baby boomers. We may need to have living arrangements the way people did it back in the sixties. Great grandparents, grandparents, children, grand children and great grandchildren all lived in one large house. This is why you should buy a house early in life and pay it off as fast as you can, forsaking every thing else until you pay off the mortgage.and never borrow money against your mortgage.
@lelaine61

That works until something happens job wise health wise then you can’t pay your land taxes which also increases through the years, then the govt steps in and auctions off your house, this happens to many people/seniors😕 First off when you pay off your house which tax is included that should be yours 100%, no more taxes until you sell your property to the next person. I’m so done with this crap 🤨 Saving your money for retirement is only a dream to most folks due to living paycheck to paycheck, no caps on rising costs, a medical disaster or possibly a job loss etc....Beginnings are scary Endings are sad It’s the middle that counts.... when I heard this saying it rings so true with our society and we should be ashamed that the sad ending could be you dying homeless 😐

I agree 20 years ago when I divorced I bought a small house back in Illinois where I was raised took a 30-year mortgage to pay my house off in 14 years with no other debt I do fine living off Social Security two years ago I qualified for the senior freeze so my taxes went down $416 this year they went back up $13 but I'm still ahead and I can afford my real estate taxes, house insurance, and utilities on my social security check only and still put $200 into savings every month. If I had to pay rent now I would probably have to dip into my savings, my 401k or Roth IRA.

A normal working person with bills and especially in America with crazy health care just can't save anything in their working life. Most get by payday to payday. Unless they are greedy and unscrupulous and love money it's a struggle for many. It's annoying when commentators talk about the elderly with savings. What savings. I'm in another country and fairly secure (for now) but I don't take it for granted. However people need to get saved and born again and walk with Jesus daily (not religion) and they will see miracles and provision but they must repent of sin and turn to Jesus and His Word. Hell is real for all sinners (humans) unless saved and born again. Sinners are banned from heaven as scripture tells. We are blessed with free health care at hospital but doctors visits can be quite expensive.
