It's funny, you reviewed a translator device you said you liked, but you never use it when it would actually come in handy, lol.

Mate not sure thats a fair representation of Chock Cai 4, its a massive area full Michelin Guide Asia award winning cafes & restaurant's. It has a huge wet market with 100s of food stalls on a evening and local malls. It has really no gentrification yet so no massive condo blocks, I would say its 99% Thai with loads of sporting and soical clubs to help you integrate with the local population. Its a place that feels really old school to me and reminds me of the Bangkok I fell in love with 25 years ago, would recommend any expats having a look at this area if wanting a chilled out city home.

You really do make the videos look easy. One thing that amazes me is even in a run down area you are filming, how little loose garbage there is on the streets. Like at 11:04, 11:07, & 11:13. You might see a six pieces of loose garbage in all three of those shots. Compare that to any major US city that is imploding right now.

I think the reasons vendors set up outside of abandoned buildings is that they don't have to pay rent. I had a GF who had a coffee cart outside of a Chemist on Silom Road and she had to pay the shop owner rent.

Sad that all the artwork is gone, places like that are great. There is a place in Miami called Wynwood walls and is nothing but art installations on walls and sides of buildings. SO many people go there that all kinds of restaurants and galleries have opened in that area. Used to be run down now its a prime tourist area. Have you thought about living out near Impact arena close to the pink line. Lot of events take place there and rent would be cheap I assume

This is what the elite rich thais forgot their beginning about those poor folks and now they acted like those people are the burden to society. They are among the most vulnerable, belonging to already marginalized communities that struggle to meet their day to day needs but but..... They are the nicest people whom had no problems giving you their last meals to feed you if you needed help

I hope you're not scouting this area to move into an abandoned building! Can we still convince you to NOT leave the heart of the city? I think I know the solution to your situation: you need a larger condo! Move up and out of your 'dorm room' and into a 2-bedroom 60+ sq m place and I bet you'll enjoy life so much more! And still enjoy being close to the action. The city center is so awesome!
