"Dirty and in disrepair" seem to be a commonly encountered description of these systems in major cities such as NYC. However, I also wholeheartedly agree with the open kindness of Americans. I see videos from other countries often on KZitem where the victim of an accident (a fall, vehicle strike, etc) are bypassed by other pedestrians and wonder why the heck they aren't stopping to help. In the States, all the witnesses of an accident with injury would be tripping over themselves to help that person. All nations have their strengths and weaknesses, the US included. One day humanity will have to come together in the realization that we are all brothers and sisters. Solving our problems with war is not the answer ever. This is a great example of us creating prejudice simply because we don’t know how the others truly live, and at some point humanity has to come together to solve all of humanities, tough problems poverty homelessness, and starvation will be eradicated. Tipping is not about the food well unless your server got your order incorrect like multiple times then that means he or she simply is not doing the job correctly. But tipping is ment to positively reinforce good service because waiters and waitresses notoriously get paid horrendously low wages. So an easy way to figure out the appropriate amount you should tip is start with 10% so say the bill is 45.00 you simply move the decimal one place to the left and you have 10% that is 4.50 now if you want to be generous like if its a holiday or if you are on a date or having a large gathering you could double the tip to 20% which would turn that 4.50 into 9.00 which to make it easy you could just give the waitresses/waiter a $10. On the other hand say the server was very neglectful of your table and got several items incorrect and you had to ask for things like refills of water, bread, salad, or the bill at the end rather then him or her paying attention you could deduct as much as you feel appropriate or not give a tip at all if the situation calls for it. Tho no tip is an extremely rare instance. Hope that clears up confusion for anyone wondering.

Maybe in some places. The average waiter or waitress in California earns between $17.00-$25.00/hr US before tips depending where they work. They at least earn minimum wage like the greater population in California. So basically according to your post, every person working any job that pays at least less than $20/hr should receive tips. Tipping was strictly to reward good and highly appreciated service. Now, over five decades ago eateries could not afford to pay waitresses or sometimes did not want to. They would also have a backlog of orders. Customers began to tip individuals, usually strugglingling women or lost teens, who would pick up orders from the counter and deliver them to tables, and help out in other areas. This caught on and eatery service to become more fluid. It was the service etiquette, not just because they showed up to work that earned them tips.

@anonymousprivet1227 I did not say "Any" job, I was more specific than that. You write as tho you have never worked a minimum wage job. You write as tho you come from a wealthy family and dont need a tip from anyone. Do you realize how much money gets taken out for taxes and to pay for other people's SSI? More than 50% of every paycheck that a minimum wage worker receives(that is in every state, not only California). Then add onto that his or her mortgage or rent payment, then insurance, and car payments. How much of that is leftover for people to buy groceries/food for their families/their children. And any other bills like propaine, electricity, water, etc. Most minimum wage workers, regardless of the industry, are the hardest working individuals, and the managers dont even appreciate them. Managers are told by owners (and rewarded when they do this) to not give as many workers as possible 40 hours per week so that the owners/corporate don't have to pay out for benefits. That means workers have to use their hard earned lowballed, "taxed the crap out of" paychecks to pay for everything their families need, like medical and dental appointments. And we who get ill know how bad the medical industry is. NOW TELL ME, "TIPS ARE NOT NECESSARY!?! If you truly have not ever worked a minimum wage job like I suspect, then please go do that before you talk about things you clearly don't understand. (And no knowing the history of a thing does not mean you understand it)

@@cricket2182011 I have had to work three minimum wage jobs at once in order to make ends meet. You missed my point. If your reasoning is to tip just because of a minimum wage salary then every single minimum wage worker across the US, despite the type of work, should be allowed to receive tips. Otherwise, if kindness moves you because you are happy with your service, then by all means, go with your heart. Tips should never be required unless it's required across the board for all in the same situation. Tips should not be demanded just because someone performed their job.

Absolutely agree; it makes me so upset when I see other Americans treat foreigners disrespectfully. That's not how they would want to be treated if they went somewhere to visit. It's not hard to be nice to people. 🙂

Videos like this make me proud to be an American. We have created a very welcoming culture. We love and care for people. Though we do certain things differently, foreigners respect us. America is the dream of many outsiders. Politics aside, it is the best country in the world. Second to absolutely none and it's not even close. I pray for freedom in North Korea and peace with the United States.

look up Robert Park. His mission was religious, but he left NK, but came back to bring a message of love and peace. They mangled him up badly then returned him to the USA. Democracy, Capitolism, etc is not perfect. There can never be a definition of utopia Humans will ever experience. But after 10k+ years of figuring itself out, humanity came up with Democracy and the USA. We can only try, and make things better. Communism is a failure to the rights of the People. Thank you for sharing with us, we are proud of your accomplishments, they are astounding with respect to all I know about what is going on inside of NK. I have watched videos of NK people being crushed by steam rollers, and murdered in cold blood by the PRNK, I have seen and read the propaganda that gov't puts out. Authoritarian rule is human failure.

I will say us as ex military do have it better than most, yet it can still be better. Yet… we definitely have it better than most. So it’s hard to complain. If the VA hospitals were better with vets, then it would be a whole different story. Again though…. Many have it so much worse. So it truly makes it hard to complain but anyone that goes to war and goes through hardships. Shouldn’t have to wait 3-4 months for an appointment. Again, we do have it better than most. We all have to change for the better.

I grew up Hawaii....I had Korean friends from school, and community that way; even we we left that dream to make other things real....if you remember how to forgive each other somehow as younger generations being a difference of unhurt supports from, before, during, and after somehow. I believe someday we can be the living difference of love, and other de-warish hopeful love, with heaps of faith, practiced....we can organize meetings from younger people that mention how we want to put away the previous wars away and ask each family chance to regroup somehow.... all nations! alast!
