Two things about the sunshine and the age of residents (1) The thing about the sunshine and rain here is that while it rains a lot (in terms of inches), we don’t have many days where the whole day is gray. When it rains, it rains and gets dark for an hour or two and the rest of the day is sunny with scattered white clouds. Not dark gray ones. (2) The average age in Tampa is 33 now. There are not many retirees in Tampa at all. Maybe if you drive an hour outside of Tampa, yes. Same way with downtown St. Pete

I. Am born and raised here in Tampa. Hillsborough county all together and if u plan on going anywhere at 5 a.m to 8 a.m in the morning or at night between 5 p.m -7p.m good luck traffic sucks. The school board is waisting money and now the government is buying up all the property around for affordable housing. If you buy a house buy one in ybor city or central Seminole heights. I love my city there is so much too do at all times ..we have a awesome night life as in bars and restaurants

Been looking at Florida for the past 4 months. Went to Florida for the first time ever last month and fell in love with it (West Palm Beach). I’m currently a teacher in wisconsin so I would have to wait til summer but hoping to move down when I can. Just loved seeing people out and being active/healthy lifestyle.

honestly it's very costly to live in the nice areas of FL; rents will continue to rise so unless your in a career that can move up in salary overtime it's best to look at other states because tampa, west palm, miami and orlando will continue to rise in costs

The amount of wealthy northerners buying up the houses here and immediately flipping them into rentals is disheartening. Some subdivisions in Tampa Bay are around 90% rentals, that's not going to be healthy in the long run for the local economy. We are having the hardest time finding a house for around $300K where as a few years ago (wish we didn't wait) it would've been no problem at all. Three contract offers turned down in favor of three all cash offers, it feels conventional isn't good enough anymore with the amount of cash people from California and New York are bringing here with them. If you're going to move here make sure you have a solid income because it's not going to get any cheaper with the amount of people fleeing to this state from politically bankrupt ones. In about 5 years we may have to kiss our current "freedoms" goodbye in Florida with the amount of people moving here that vote for the exact problems they are currently running away from.

You’re not wrong on the affordability issue. It’s changed so quickly. I literally just cut a video called “The Dark Side Of Tampa’s Housing Boom.” As for the political aspect, only time will tell. I hope we’re not going down the road of less freedoms, it’s part of what makes Florida, Florida. Good luck on the home search! I’m sure you’ll find something.

Yes….as far as “Freedom” goes the Tampa Bay area is tops. There have been….at least for the past 50 years that I’ve lived here…..plenty of nudist resorts (Lutz, Land ‘O Lakes, Hudson) in Pasco and lots of strip clubs, gay bars, swinger’s clubs and “massage parlors” in Tampa/St. Pete and Clearwater…….and this has always been true regardless of the right-wing Republicans who run the entire state legislature. It’s a big anonymous “live and let live” atmosphere and always has been. Welcome!😁

Great Question, Kim. Without knowing the ins and out of your offers, there are a few ways that we’re using to win in a multiple offer situation. 1.) And the obvious one is price, but it’s not the only thing that matters. 2.) Terms: i.e. closing date of the sellers choosing, free post closing occupancy to the sellers, buyer pays sellers closing cost, escalation clauses, hassle free private inspection, etc. 3.) Hire an great agent that know what lever to pull, at the time it’s needed. Hope that helps. Auto insurance and flood and homeowners insurance very expensive. Housing expensive. Poor infrastructure. Property taxes expensive. Hurricane Charlie in 2002 was bad. We had 5 storms that year. Temps in summer stay around 93. Compared to the north salaries are much lower. You're a clown.

Where in the world are you from if you think the property taxes are expensive? My aunt and uncle live in a 10,000 square-foot house on a beautiful lake that is skiable and they pay $5k a year and property taxes🤣 In other states, a small house costs twice that much in taxes. Also, Tampa hasn’t have above a Cat 1 hurricane hit in over 100 yrs.
